  3. Meant to be doing real life stuff today, but managed to squeeze in some initial work on MAME lamp scraping/data layouts Some tech info: MAME ultimately won't need data layouts as I have the source, so can expose the raw data (which will reduce 1-2 frames of input lag which is great)... but since MFME works on data layouts, I've decided to do this as an interim approach, in order to get things moving Also I'm playing this via a few keys directly into MAME itself, there's a whole thing to figure out for getting hopefully some automated remapping, so then the keys/clickable buttons will work the same as the MFME ones. DIP switches/jackpot keys/percentage etc are on MAME defaults for now, again this all needs sussing out.

  7. @johnparker007 , thank you for the reply and explanation, much appreciated. I certainly hope that you reach your goal and can implement MFME as a bolt on withinn your project as at this stage it looks very impressive.

  8. MAME is far more reaching, but in terms of fruit machine emulation, has a fair way to go. Most of the first users of Arcade Sim would be MFME related users I would have thought. It is an exciting thought that one day Mame will emulate fruities as well as MFME does, and I am glad you are looking at ways to implement MFME within the rules set out by the late, great Wizard. I've been following your thread on this, and have enjoyed it immensely, it's looking really good / promising, and wish you all the best with it.

  9. That's a great summary @depdawg and that's pretty much where I am @Mavroz I think that side will be ok, it was discussed recently on here, already Virtual Machines are really good (i.e. performant, whilst they are on the same architecture). Also, with what Apple are doing with x86 -> arm emulation, I think while it may be slightly more fiddly, it will be possible to run MFME 20.1 in the far future, probably indefinitely. After the strong reactions after my recent post about dropping MFME as the core FME engine ...I will be keeping MFME support and my thoughts around this were pretty much what you've written; I think it does make sense to ultimately move to a unifying open source tech such as MAME, but until that is there and at least as good as MFME the best interim solution would be to have MFME as an optional bolt on. As Reg suggested if MFME is detected then the Arcade Sim could add the supported MFME machines for selection during the arcade creation? I guess the downside of not having MFME bundled would be that online arcades that have MFME machines in it wouldn't be accessible to the users that don't have MFME installed, but I'm sure the Sim could easily recognise what arcades or machines are valid for the user. So some kind of autodetecting system, but new users would not see any of the MFME-requiring machines until MAME is at that level (or they install MFME). It could even be on a machine by machine basis, so the Arcade Sim can download fresh binaries of MAME as they are released to its internal directory along with the updated compatibility list from the Arcade Sim server, then slowly enable currently MFME machines to the user, as they become emulated at a good enough level in MAME for use in the simulator.

Roll Up, Roll Up, take a seat and go for a ride in this fun filled roller coaster of a slot from project coin (cir1996), have the thrill of your life on the big wheel or the dodgems, make a splash on the log flume or join the show in the Big Top. Collect golden tickets to hit the jackpot!!! Thanks goto @BL4K For giving images of his machine to @infection including the reel symbols and especially the orange balloon, not sure what the hidden feature symbol is on the 2nd reel so made it a big top tent. Also thanks goto @hitthesix for the original classic i made my classic and now this dx from @Tommy c for font help and maybe Mr p's for the original roms from his machines uploaded a few years back via the mecca Now onto the layouts... the £5 seams fine but the £8/£10 version is asking for its stake/jackpot key? which it then defaults to its £8T/20p program also some of the lamps may seam out of place when you collect a win etc, but doesn't affect the fab gameplay inside shortcuts are as standard Plays in Mfme v201. Percentage switch / checkboxes now added to All thanks to @Ginge text file included within each file for the various percentage settings Enjoy and Happy gaming

  12. Common questions that maybe asked by New Members to this site - I will build on this list as and when needed. Nope. This site you have to be over 18 to access the content. If you are found to be lying about your age you will have your account closed. If it is believed you are lying about your age, you will have your account closed. Gambling is a very serious problem and we do not encourage minors to be involved in this hobby. New Members now need to be welcomed to the site by multiple exisiting members. This is done via reputation responses using reactions - your account will automatically be moved to member status when you have the apporiate reactions. If a new member for some reason has no ability to post and society has collapsed to a point that they consider it impossible to do a new introduction post, in some cases I will support if they reach out to me - but not all. It has to be a damn good reason. Rep goes up as well as down. If one if these was clicked on marked in green, then that is a -1 and that can prevent you hitting the right level of reputation before your account automatically moves to Member status and out of the reputation cycle. This means if asked a question by a member in the introductions, please be respectful with your response. New members are welcomed on reputation and that is solely in the hands of the existing membership. Too much bad reputation and it's "Game Over" in the introduction forum - remember members can only react to each post, so if you spam it's quicker for different members to react to this or you are offensive and knock down your reputation. Members are asked to only react once in a welcome thread so you should effectively need a series of members to say no and it cannot happen with just one member. Rep goes up as well as down as mentioned above when we speak about New Member status. You may have got yourself promoted by spamming threads and people have liked some comments in the New Member area, these have then been tidied up to add balance as you end up with a double like and this pushed you back to where you should be. Otherwise, you get into the forum and posted comments that generated a negitive reaction so you dropped back into New Member status when the reputation hit less than four. This one is a little too long to answer here, take a look at this thread, this will detail step by step instructions on how to setup the emulator and load your first game. Note that you will need to have interacted with the coummunity here to access the downloads in some areas on this site for the games. Loading MFME for the First Time You are likely to be a new user who needs to increase their reputation. Try posting in the introduction forum. There are download restrictions in place for members that do not support the site. At the time of writing the FAQ these are what they are set to assuming you are in a standard membership group. The limits above may go up, they may go down. The only way to remove them is given something back to the community on an ongoing manner or support the site. It is a manual process to do this - please wait as the PayPal needs to be matched up with the donating account. If concerned, send a PM to @Reg. This site is not like other sites, it's multifunctional meaning several download areas as it has different areas that do different things. There are two core areas as follows: From the top menu you have a Downloads tab, this is layouts from many .FML Artists. From DX'Cellent area you have multiple forums with downloads attached. These are all layouts from @Pook as this part of the site belongs to him and he is effectively hosted here and we share the same membership base. It is always possible to make layouts to play, but you need resources and the emulator to support the technical platform of the machine in question. If the following questions all have a positive answer, then the chances are yes in terms of resources. Does the emulator support the technical platform of the game. For example MPU3, SCORPION2, IMPACT ? Assuming yes to the above, the following now needs to be answered. Do we have a complete romset for the game - this must include in some cases both game and sound files ? If I am wanting a DX, do I have suitable pictures at the right quality and resolution ? If the answer is yes to all of the above, the next step is to get the layout made. You can either do this yourself otherwise post all the resources to the FML Artist's Corner of this site and see if anyone is prepared to do it. Everything that is done by designers is a free service - do not expect and simply be thankful for what there is already out there among the 2,000+ games that are currently available. Banning people is really not what this site is about, but there are some clear highlights here. Even if you have supported the site, you can still be banned and your support will not be returned as being a supporter does not put you above the rest of the membership in terms of what you "can" and "cannot" do. Accounts will never be deleted or posts removed, but I do trash the password and login email. If requested sometimes, I change the username if you are banned. eBay sellers are what we work towards stamping out here. They profit from other peoples work. If you support an eBay seller and think that it is "okay" to purchase the goods they sell without permission from the owners of the layouts or MFME ( that it breaks the T&C ), you will be banned. Duplicate accounts. Sometimes this goes into the redemption queue, other times you just get banned. Roll the dice, see what happens. Trying to sell illegal services on this site such as unofficial modifications to hardware. Anything else I have missed. You are a guest on this site.

Here's my flyer-based DX of Crazy Money, a machine first released as a classic layout by @Reg, and released here : I hope I've done it justice. The layout was designed at 2160p (4K UHD) and is 2160 pixels tall, so should fit a 4K panel in Full Screen Max mode without any scaling involved. As usual that's pretty much overkill when dealing with a tiny flyer, and does mean the file-size is a bit large (18MB!!), but it's easier to work at larger resolutions, and MFME will scale downwards for those at lower resolutions anyway I have made two versions of the layout - the one called Crazy Money UHD DX is the standard layout, with the video screen implemented on the top glass of the machine as it should be, albeit resized to take up as much free space as possible to make it as playable as possible within the constraints of the artwork. The other layout is simply a copy of it, with the video screen, 'shoot' button and 'rotation' lamps moved to the side, to give the video screen greater space. So - for a more accurate game, use the UHD DX download. If you prefer a much bigger screen plonked to the side, choose the UHD HD SIDESCREEN layout I'll attach the layout notes below, but firstly thanks to @Reg for the classic layout on which this layout is almost entirely based (just added in a few unused lamp numbers among other things), made it a much easier job having a top-notch classic to work from, with good controls for the crazy golf game built in. Also thanks to @vectra666 for suggestions based on a quick playtest for me, and supplying the original gold cabinet frame I have used here, as well as the correct fruit symbols on the reels for this era of game (should match the winplan graphics correctly). Finally thanks to @Wizard, without whom we wouldn't be doing this, and the more I design in MFME, the more I realise just what a complete package it is. I have made minor tweaks to the layout after I sent versions out for testing, so if any new issues have arisen in these new versions, let me know and I'll get them sorted

  20. Good luck with that one mate. I had to chop my old van in a few months ago. Bought a second hand car from a dealer, it's been back to them several times now, as it has a disliking of oil, and throws it on the floor! It's always a bit of a spin on the roulette wheel, unless you plan to get something quite new.

  24. I could perhaps do something along those lines, so it detects they already have MFME installed, so they can manually get those machines working in some kind of local mode, outside of the core MAME system. I'll put the unoptimised sim back together enough (was part way through optimisations, so lots of things disabled), and start working on getting MAME working next - probably just a scraper/data layout at first, similar format to MFME, as that'll be quickest to get up and running. Later, I'll do a custom MAME build to pass video/lamp data (and perhaps audio stream) direct to Arcade Sim. Edit: have sent A:E a message to see, I hope he still stays a member

  25. @johnparker007 I am not really upset - I am just defending my dead friend to represent what I knew of him for 20+ years. There is no need to apoligise - this never actually got nasty and I have no ill will towards you - although I am pretty fucking pissed at another comment on here tonight. That will pass... If you want @A:E back, he asked for his account to be closed - I know you know him personally, check if he still wants it closed and if he does not can you let me know and I'll open it. He does have my personal details as well from when he's done work for me, so he cna also reach out. I think you are missing a trick here and should look at the @slasher method. The Arcade could detect if MFME was installed and carry on as normal by checking registry enteries and if not, perhaps a splash screen saying one component is needed from this which is from here. That way - we keep Chris and his program isolated. Let's be honest - you have the bigger auidence here for Fruit Machines and resources. This also gives you a compromise where people will happily support you here to get you things you need and if you did the check for install and if not, give a splash screen it's not really a bad relationship - is it ?
    1 point
  26. For both sides of the story, @johnparker007 posted about including MFME in the build and such, my response was this... Chris was very precious for his emulator and knowing the pain that was caused years ago with the MAME blow up and I need to sleep at night with what happens. There is no reason why the project cannot still use MFME, but no, a huge U-Turn is being made and to all intents and purposes the toys are being thrown out the pram here because there is seperation. Much the same way when we used to run older versions of MFME we needed to intstall the runtime for DX9. Much the same way that when we play emulators, we run on an operating system such as Windows that is already present. Good luck with your project - I am sorry that we are seeing a different version of you now you are not gettiing what you want. If at any point you had made a statement saying that you would require MFME to be part of your install, this would have come out sooner. Fact is - you don't - and you are just stopping support because people will have to download it from here. It should make no difference really to what you are doing, you have enough ( and will have enough ) glory to on release - it's not an all in one package and clearly too much to have - oh and you need this as a dependancy. I hope that you refund all members that have supported the costs, you can keep my donation BTW, I knew it was a risky one but I also was not being strung along. Depending on your reaction to this @johnparker007 where you are being unreasonable in my opinon to the membership will depend on if I close this area over the next few days.

  28. Hi Guys. Seeing as my mini cab is still going strong after well over half a million plays, and I am still progressing with it, I thought I would do a quick update as I have recently done a few upgrades. My main upgrade was a massive TV stand with a 100kg load limit, and adjustable height: Cost 2550 Baht (60 Quid). I then added my Cheapo (6,999 Baht 166 Quid) 43" TCL 4k smart TV, only to find out that the upscaling is none existent. So unlike my 55" Samsung, it is only as good as the layouts permit. Next I added a 12v tower lights from China, and sprayed it chrome: Cost 230Baht (a little over a Fiver). Eventually I will add another Pacdrive/relays to illuminate it via specific bulbs in MFME, as my other Pacdrive is maxed already with my buttons. My next step is to build an adjustable shelf for the buttons, which clamp on to the twin spine of the TV stand, and add 2 coin mechs where the speakers are. Eventually this will split off in to a new cabinet so I will have 2 MFME cabs. Hopefully this will give some of you some ideas and inspire you to be creative:)
