Bit of a long gameplay video here, been working on various things... - attract modes look scrambled on all machines (except Happy Hour as the recording was write protected), this is due to new converter feature, so it can now record these automatically as part of the conversion process (saving me time/hassle). Will fix the new scrambled lamps bug soon. - 'MFME lifecycle' system working well so far, on each of these I'm pressing enter to launch, escape to return (then the machine returns to displaying attract mode recording) - new machines being played: Fiddle 'A' Fortune, and Eastern Promise. - all machines playable (except Happy Hour, once I turned volume up, I realised it wasn't starting due to a RAM error) - plus other misc stuff. There's a big pause somewhere in the video, that's because someone from work rang and needed a code for the underground car park, so I had to deal with that! Next, planning to work on getting those automated attract mode recordings unscrambled, along with more on MFME lifecycle (full screen windows client, keeping MFME always hidden behind but still operable). I'll prob do another video when those things are implemented, as it'll all look a bit more ship-shape

  2. Well that escalated quickly, I'm not sure that suggestions of murder (or at least inflicting serious injury on a person) are an appropriate reaction to someone being rude to you on Facebook. Yes I know you didn't seriously mean that we should start shooting DVD sellers, (well, hopefully not at least), but all this is doing is starting conflict and introducing bad blood into a situation where there are no good outcomes. This is like the war on drugs, it's futile and just leads to harm. The demand is there, it isn't going to go away, people want an easy and relatively inexpensive way to get an FME collection, the DVD/USB sellers are providing that, and whilst the demand exists it will be met, whatever the apparent 'sanctions' are. The way to fix this is to provide an officially supported alternative via the main FME sites, we can talk about the specifics of how it'd work and what it'd look like in due course, and frankly, that'd be a far better use of everyone's time.

  3. I was noticing it takes a very long time to the machines to initialise, and I'm impatient ...plus it's not great for the online arcade experience. Anyway, so I've been doing some R&D (well the research side, I haven't actually made the proper system yet) - to speed up those initialise times with some good old fashioned hacking Excluding the time to load the layout (which I should also be able to speed up once my data layouts are generated from scratch with no image resources), these are the speed up results on my PC (which runs at a fairly fast speed of 4.7ghz): So on the older techs (Scorpion 4 and earlier), the machines will get to their playable state near-instantly, on the latest techs (Scorpion 5 etc) the times are around half to third (on a ~4.7ghz CPU) Here's a quick video of Monopoly Road to Riches (Scorpion 4), first showing normal startup (approx 42s), then turbo startup (approx 3s):

He tried to force me to buy part 2 and I was like don't think so pal you think I'm that stupid in falling into your trap don't think so I'd rather support desertislandfruits then your pocket mate then he started to be very aggressive toward me when I said this website so I thought fair enough mate I've blocked him reported him and then suddenly his page went from Facebook.. But the worse part of it he had over 200 people in the group and he was selling this slot r us crap via usb/cd/download... People like that need shooting!! Rant over

  5. HI wondering if anyone can help get rid of this error , using MFME20.1 I;ve had a look at the ctrl-e config but i dont see any options to reset things using the buttons The only way I can play is by ticking the S-Door. thanks in advance

  6. This is the way forward and will lift the fog. FME is confusing to the average punter with all the different MFME builds, gam files changing to fml, 20.1 only running on W10 and so on. It all needs cleaning up and making more simple. In the meantime someone could try and get hold of the two discs that fat cunt is selling, and they can be hosted on this site. Cheers for your hard work you fucking parasite - we'll take it from here

  8. You could be right, I'm honestly not sure. My memory isn't what it was, that's just what I recall and it was a long time ago. Just felt compelled to post RE:MAME as it's a common misconception that you can basically do what you want as it's free, and it seemed relevant at the moment

In that case I stand corrected - as for the MFME and MAME argument, I don't know the specifics but I thought that was only in the older MFME and that he contributed some stuff back to MAME to shut everyone up... I am probably wrong again here, but that's what I thought was the case. There are many people that have been around FME a lot longer than me that will know otherwise. EDIT: Quickly scanned over the MAME FAQ and it looks like people are not permitted to be selling MAME either.

  11. This is how a programmer that laughed at slow boot times (his were all fast) described it to me... Everyone else's machine software does checks one after the other, so coin des, hopper des, note des, reel checks, etc and they're all slow to reply or do their little dance. His software did everything at once

  18. Think I’ve seen DVDs sold on Amazon as well. Whichever way the seller tries to look at it or to justify their reason for doing it, they morally can’t as it’s basic theft, no excuse! The problem is the seller, they don’t care who’s sweat and time they rip off for a quick buck and that’s where the problem lies. In an attempt for the FME sites and designers to combat this, I kind of have an idea but don’t know if it would be easy enough to put the idea into practice.

  23. There's never really been much the industry could do about FME; they've tolerated it over the years - a scene where everyone does stuff for free for the benefit of everyone. I mean fair enough a few donations take place here and there to cover site costs and group buys and so on, but no-one has ever sought to personally gain financially from it in any great way, because after all when you strip FME down to its core it really is just another form of piracy. Not even Wizard sought to gain anything other than being able to share his work and make people happy. If he did, various manufacturers would be baying for blood, hence the disclaimer on the front of MFME. So it's galling and frustrating for members when some chancer comes along and tries to monetise FME for himself in such a blatant way. Whether it's their layouts being sold, the emulator itself or potential donations being diverted away from a site they've worked hard on over the years, everyone who has participated in FME at any point in its history knows that it goes against the spirit of what the scene is all about. But there's a reason why scenes like this one is free - it's because of the aforementioned piracy element. As soon as you start selling a company's intellectual property without permission, for your own financial benefit, you're in trouble. What you're doing is no different to selling knock-off DVD's at car-boot sales, or streaming football matches on a website you have to pay to join - you're ripping off large companies, and they don't like it. With regards to FME you might say 'Yeah but all I'm doing is offering a service...', but you're still selling representations of the trademarked products of those large companies, potentially diverting money away from them and into your own pocket. It's theft, no matter what way you look at it. That's why some people selling Kodi boxes years ago ended up in jail or facing huge fines. Inspired recently purchased Astra Games and Bell Fruit for tens of millions of dollars - all those big trademarked brands like Party Time, Cops n Robbers, Bullion Bars...they are all owned by Inspired now, a huge American company with an impressive legal department. Inspired will be wanting to utilise those brands in the future to recoup their outlay. They know all about FME of course and they tolerate it as much as anyone else - a free co-operative scene where no-one seeks to gain financially fro...oh dear. Who's this guy, selling our trademarks and intellectual property without our permission? Doesn't matter if it's not your emulator or even your layouts - you're selling them and personally gaining financially from it. And it's all over the internet, Facebook, eBay...a massive long trail. You've even got your own website up. Maybe Inspired have instructed their Legal Team to look into this? Maybe they're in touch with eBay's Legal Department right now, asking for records of every sale you've ever made that contains an Astra or Bell Fruit product, so they can build a case against you? I mean they're counterfeit games really aren't they, when all is said and done. They've laid out a fortune on these brands and they'll want to fiercely protect them. One seller today becomes 10 sellers next week, 100 next month and before you know it, it's all out of control like MAME. They'll be looking to nip this in the bud and send a message out to anyone else thinking of doing similar. I mean it's not as if you'd get a jail sentence for it - you've probably only made a few grand over the years, if that. Nothing like those Kodi-box sellers. But the fines you might get - they'd wipe those profits out for sure. And then there's the legal fees...I mean those are going to be devastating. And who knows how many other manufacturers might fancy a pop whe...if Inspired are successful? You can be as thick-skinned as you like, but ultimately you're in the wrong, and you won't have a leg to stand on. But you never know, Inspired might be happy paying $120m dollars for a few companies including Bell Fruit and Astra, and then watching some plucky entrepeneur sell discs on eBay with Crazy Fruits and Reel King games on them, without their permission? And keep all profits derived from the sales? I'm sure you'll be fine mate Sleep well tonight...

  26. Hi John, I have been watching the progress of this forum thread over time and I have to say how impressed I am with what you are doing. It was a really sad and continues to be difficult time with the news we all had in this scene with the passing of Wizard. I cannot begin to imagine how pleased he would have been to find that gifted individuals such as yourself would continue to innovate and add to the already brilliant work he did with MFME. Good luck with all of this, and looking forward to seeing it continue to progress over time.

  27. Beginnings of HUD rendering, plus a little progress on MFME lifecycle work. Here I'm pressing enter when viewing Wok 'n' Roll / Fiddle 'a' Fortune and it's loading the correct data layout under an MFME instance. Then when I press Escape, it kills the 'engaged' machine instance, and goes back to viewing mode to continue exploring the arcade
