Welcome to my DX version of Reel A Win. Firstly, I would like to wish you a very Happy New Year and hope that 2023 will be a good year for you Without a do, thanks go to the following: The late, great Wizard for the superb emulator. Wearacity for the classic and allowing me to do the DX and release it. Dad for the image that I used for the machine (I adjusted the bottom section to make it look like a real machine). This is the first machine that I have used almost all the lamps for the off-image as I realised that one of the features uses a darker version of the amounts when the lightened image repeatedly scrolls from the bottom to the top and without the off-image, it didn't show any of the lit images at all. I used a slightly different number reel along with a slight edit for the colours for the background of them. It's not totally authentic but the colours were nearer to the actual machine rather than the blue that was originally used for the classic layout. Finally, enjoy the machine

  3. I've mentioned this before.... like the top two lamps on Test Your strength missing...... One of the replies I got was that Chis (R.I.P.) always wanted to see perfection in the emulator - and I respect that.

Please find attached a small layout mod for Reg's brilliant CCnR DX. The purpose of this originally was to simply test different ROM sets and sort the versions we had. I made some small changes to the existing DX to facilitate this work, and with Reg's permission it made sense to now release these to the scene for anyone who has an interest in playing the CCnR game at different stakes/prizes/rom revisions. Notes: 5 DX's using different ROM revisions: 5p-£75 (750-190 v9.1) (ROM date = 20/01/1994) 10p-£100 (750-628 vK.1) (ROM date = 02/02/1996) 20p-£150 (750-154 v5.3) (ROM date = 16/11/1993) 20p-£200 (750-118 v1.2) (ROM date = 20/07/1993) 25p-£250 (750-859 vL.1) (ROM date = 02/09/1996) Lamp masks Blended lamps on win matrix bottom glass Pay-out custom sounds Meter effects Changed colours on Dot matrix and 7 segs to match original machine a bit closer (personal preference) Reel gradients Added one of Reg's casino backgrounds for ambience in F3 (full screen) mode BUT original art remains if you want to drag it all back into view (the reel bands on the side art have been added as an image to this download post) All ROMs are included as a separate download with a visual guide AutoPlay profile added and used to get CP's full around £3000/£4000 IN Added flyer/cabinet/game photos and .db files for MFME Game Manager This mod was released with Reg's approval, and the credit must go to him for the original classic and DX layouts. Cheers, Mort.

  5. Fair point They bought out the DOND licence aswell. Both these franchises are on the blueprint digis of course, they must have thought the familiar brand would attract the players.

  6. Maybe not new software - but new artwork and a license fee to ITV / Endemol to boot! Betcom weren't paying a license fee for Baking Bad and all those. At the time of the death knoll for AWP's - i'm surprised they were forking out money for licenses.

  7. Exactly... at a time when the industry was on its knees... I find it pretty amazing - especially as they are so poor. The DOND itself success was the fruit machines second coming - and last hurrah - but an insanely popular (even now) mech for non players.

  8. How many DOND games did Bell Fruit release in the end? Must have been at least 50 (across all sectors, not just pub). Plus there were some by Betcom, Games Media, Barcrest, Storm and others. I can't think of any other licensing agreement with such longevity.

  10. A great topic this. I do like when a layout has some imperfections. Machine looks a bit battered, maybe a little bit of sunlight on the glass etc.. Vecs released a layout, that had another members lighter, still resting on the machine.

  11. It came to my attention whilst having a dabble on some of these fruit machines, that It was so rare to play a machine in real life with all the bulbs working, no buttons sticking etc. Part of the joy of playing machines back in the day was never knowing if you had more nudges that were lit up, or where exactly your skill-shot landed on the money climber. Not to mention the double nudges of reels when the button got stuck down! Anyway could it be an option to have random bulbs that don't work for a real authentic experience?

  14. this has made my day ! i had this about 13 years ago, got it up 4 flights of stairs into my first flat ! Transported from 70 miles away in the back of a Corsa ! Such an amazing sight to see it operational again in emulation form, going to have lots of fun playing this ! I've seen other threads with talk of AI image upgrade, is this layout the current with highest res artwork avaiable ? I'm new to the forum but if I knew how to extract the artwork, I'd have a go at upscaling it to higher rez to improve this, Welcome contact with DM, see if I can assist !

Wow, what a fantastic release! It's always great to see the old ones being done up so well and this is lovely. Only extremely slight criticism is that the bottom right reel could have been angled slightly to follow the contours of the outlines but that certainly doesn't warranty and stars off Happy Christmas to you!
