I will later on, for now I'll just keep chipping away at fixes in this repo so they're safely on github... I have to get back to work on the Layout Editor before too long, so maybe then I'll pass them over to David or James to get them into the head repo I saw from testing Eastenders Queen Vic (different sound chip to the Bar Gain one above), that has an issue where the trail letters count up to slowly, and also the lamps (I think above lamp number 127) are mapped wrong... so hopefully a couple more Maygay M1A/B fixes in the pipeline 3 [ Arcade Simulator ] Pre-alpha installer: https://tinyurl.com/2kcrkprh | Donation info: https://tinyurl.com/yzvgl4xo [ Community Drive ] The drive: http://tinyurl.com/yckze665 [ Fruit Machine Database ] Initial google sheets (WIP): https://tinyurl.com/2c5znxzz [ Fruit Machine ROM Archive ] The archive: https://tinyurl.com/3jhzbueb [ Fruit Machine Settings/Tests Guide ] https://tinyurl.com/yuebw8b5 [ MAME (fixes/improvements) ] Commits: https://github.com/johnparker007/mame/commits/master/?author=johnparker007 [ MFME Launch ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/MFMELaunch [ Oasis ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/Oasis [ Sound ROM Editor ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/SoundRomEditor

johnparker007
Well - so I've been looking at these scrambled lamps in Eastenders Queen Vic, kinda making some progress, but then I thought - let's just try some other rom revisions - hey presto, they have correctly working lamps! Eastenders Queen Vic - scrambled lamps ROM sa7-496.zip I then tried the ROM in MFME, and the lamps are also scrambled in MFME! God damn lol So I'm not sure what is going on with the lamps, maybe a dongle is required to unscramble them? Since Chris didn't emulate/fix these lamps in MFME either, I'll move onto something else... as we can simply not use these affected ROMs (like we do in MFME now). I could 'fix' them given time, as it's simple a 1:1 mapping, so I could even make a basic lookup table... however that table may then only work for Eastenders Queen Vic, and then other M1A/B games might have a different scrambling, needing figuring out again. Once less thing to have to sort out anyway 1 [ Arcade Simulator ] Pre-alpha installer: https://tinyurl.com/2kcrkprh | Donation info: https://tinyurl.com/yzvgl4xo [ Community Drive ] The drive: http://tinyurl.com/yckze665 [ Fruit Machine Database ] Initial google sheets (WIP): https://tinyurl.com/2c5znxzz [ Fruit Machine ROM Archive ] The archive: https://tinyurl.com/3jhzbueb [ Fruit Machine Settings/Tests Guide ] https://tinyurl.com/yuebw8b5 [ MAME (fixes/improvements) ] Commits: https://github.com/johnparker007/mame/commits/master/?author=johnparker007 [ MFME Launch ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/MFMELaunch [ Oasis ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/Oasis [ Sound ROM Editor ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/SoundRomEditor
Altharic
I loaded Fairground system 5 last night and it doesn't seem to work anymore wonder if there have been regressions? Hard to say how it's not working it's like playing itself and being random I've seen that before, some machines go into a 'demo mode'. Perhaps a feature for trade shows or something? If it didn't happen on an earlier MAME version, then sounds like a regression - might not be too bad to figure out the breaking change as a starting point to investigate. Been looking at the Oki MSM6376 sound chip sound/speed issues on M1A/B... though when I fix some things other things break lol [ Arcade Simulator ] Pre-alpha installer: https://tinyurl.com/2kcrkprh | Donation info: https://tinyurl.com/yzvgl4xo [ Community Drive ] The drive: http://tinyurl.com/yckze665 [ Fruit Machine Database ] Initial google sheets (WIP): https://tinyurl.com/2c5znxzz [ Fruit Machine ROM Archive ] The archive: https://tinyurl.com/3jhzbueb [ Fruit Machine Settings/Tests Guide ] https://tinyurl.com/yuebw8b5 [ MAME (fixes/improvements) ] Commits: https://github.com/johnparker007/mame/commits/master/?author=johnparker007 [ MFME Launch ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/MFMELaunch [ Oasis ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/Oasis [ Sound ROM Editor ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/SoundRomEditor

Inferno uses the 'Oki' sound chip, rather than the NEC part - so this is the chip I'm currently doing battle with lol I'm hoping to get it working properly like seen in my Bar-Gain before/after video above (Bar-Gain uses the NEC chip). I am currently using Eastenders Queen Vic as my Oki test machine, when I have the sound working in that, it should be working in all Maygay machines that use the Oki sound chip (i.e: Inferno). At least that's the plan! 1 1 [ Arcade Simulator ] Pre-alpha installer: https://tinyurl.com/2kcrkprh | Donation info: https://tinyurl.com/yzvgl4xo [ Community Drive ] The drive: http://tinyurl.com/yckze665 [ Fruit Machine Database ] Initial google sheets (WIP): https://tinyurl.com/2c5znxzz [ Fruit Machine ROM Archive ] The archive: https://tinyurl.com/3jhzbueb [ Fruit Machine Settings/Tests Guide ] https://tinyurl.com/yuebw8b5 [ MAME (fixes/improvements) ] Commits: https://github.com/johnparker007/mame/commits/master/?author=johnparker007 [ MFME Launch ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/MFMELaunch [ Oasis ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/Oasis [ Sound ROM Editor ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/SoundRomEditor

dec1962
Inquizitor was the first BFG SWP machine using the Flare chipset. The BFG boards were Viper, Cobra and Cyclone. Other games were every second counts, treble top, beeline and a few others. Also a pinball style game Break Ball. There's no readable floppy disk for Inquizitor so the PR was just to correct the mapping of the ROMs.

niallquinn
Off topic, but the whole Atari Jaguar is a good story. Sinclair Research, remember the Loki, a super Spectrum, designed and built by Martin Brennnan? Sugar takes over Sinclair and sacks everyone. Brennan goes onto create it as the Flare1, then flare2, then the great Konix (saw it at the PCW show in 89 complete with chair it was mint), Konix goes bust, takes the tech to Atari, creates the Atari Panther, again scrapped, reworked it into the released Atari Jaguar. Now imaging having the Loki in 86, instead of 93?
Altharic
Atari really fucked up the company with these consoles after the Jaguar tanked it should have worked in making the falcon more affordable to compete with the Amiga A1200 sadly by this point they were fucked too much vapourware and not enough product

thealteredemu
I never had a Falcom as I was an Amiga user back in the day. It’s such a shame the system wasn’t a commercial success as it seems somewhat superior to the A1200. Did any software houses cater for it at all? J Sadly not it didn't have the userbase it was about £600 for the basic model and with that most software needed at least 4mb just to run that then cost daft money. slotsmagic
Never owned a Jaguar but came close. There was a video game shop in a city near me - I don't think it was EB but was something similar. They had a pile of Jaguars and I believe they were £20/£25. I think mum or dad must have talked me out of spending my pocket money on it! I did have an Atari Lynx, that was a cracking console. A huge unwieldy thing for a 'handheld' - unless that's just the fact I would smaller and younger back then. But great fun, even if I mainly played a Boulderdash type game on it, Crystal somethingorother. Regarding BFM SWPs, the only one I owned was Top of the Pops. Unfortunately I was unable to make a backup of the CD due to scratches (which also meant it would freeze during certain scenes). I feel that putting CDs into an SWP was a bad idea, as obviously clubs / pubs would pull the machines about whilst turned on (to reach power socket, e.t.c.) I do recall it being a Cobra (possibly Cobra 3?) board, but can't remember much else and it's long gone. Edited January 12 by slotsmagic Happy non-gambler since 1st January 2025! niallquinn
There's one on ebay now, sadly I don't have a spare £1800 to buy a Falcon. Demos are really good for it, past amiga standard in some cases. There is a project to replicate the board, and sell that. Sure I read it on Atari mania. THe Falcon itself is severely flawed though, it's 32bit, but can only run in 16bit etc. Atari Falcon - Wikipedia
