  1. I had a quick download before I had to head out, but didn't get much time to play with it. I will say though that it's definitely knackered. Hope someone can get it going as it's a shame so much was put through it and now it's conked out!
  2. Similar thing with the Lord of the Rings (Two Towers?) Club machine, I seem to recall it was impossible to gamble out the cash ladder, you had to gamble to a couple of values below jackpot, exchange in and aim to get cash knockouts. Off to work now but I know what I'll be watching when I get back later
  3. It's a tricky one. While £25 was definitely an update, I was never a fan of rechips, and would rather play the machines on their original stake and prize. When the JP gets increased, but the stake changes the same, something has to give - and that's normally gameplay, at least on machines which don't streak much. On those which do it's probably less of an issue as they just change the streak, so rather than being say 5 x £15 jackpots in quick succession, it might just be 3 x £25.

  5. I'm a bit lost here and sorry for being a pain - the email I use here is a Gmail account and I only use it for here and other FME sites. It's 'disposable' in that it's a Gmail account. Will these changes impact me?
  6. I got absolutely battered by a £5 / 10p example on a holiday camp a few years back (Haven or Park Resorts, can't remember which). I thought being a Barcrest it wouldn't be too bad, think I was about £40 in when I gave up. Must have been something on it, surely?! (Edit) Sorry - forgot to say thanks for the layout! Cheers
  7. Back in the old days there were some that were a cheeky nod to a franchise, these days it's just taking the piss. I know I've mentioned them before in other threads before but Big Bank Theory (Big Bang Theory) and Cash Bandicoot (Crash Bandicoot) are some recent Bell Fruit examples.
  8. Either somebody has paranoia issues, is a lying bellend, or someone on here actually did that. Which I seriously doubt unless they gave their address out (which I doubt donations do). So one of the former then. I'm surprised that someone on here would do that (request a refund) unless they became a member to use layouts for profit purposes, got found out, and have proceeded to throw their toys out of the pram.
  9. Used to do the same in the day also with discs from SVP. Seem to remember I had to buy discs with Taiyo Yuden or some special Azo dye, think they were normally RiDisc or Ritek. Used to use Lovefilm too, built up a great DVD-R collection... Having to decrypt the films and then remaster them without extras. Quite enjoyed it, despite being more effort than just plugging a portable HDD into the TV. Used to use businesses like MicroDirect for PC bits, they died years back.
  10. How much RAM does your lappy have? If it's only 4GB and it's sharing that with the GPU it'll probably cause bottlenecks. If so look to see if it's possible to put another stick of RAM in it Both my desktops have 16GB and that's the least I'd recommend, 8GB is probably fine though so if you only have 4GB and you have a spare DIMM socket I'd just grab a matching 4GB DIMM. No promises it would fix it but would be the first step I'd take.
  11. Awesome, the sort of thing I'm in to Can I be cheeky and ask how you find these things out? I used to do simple 'cheating' on console emulators for example, but it was normally tools built into the emulators to search for strings. Simple things like getting extra / infinite lives by searching and comparing values using a built in 'cheat scanner' to use uneducated language. Is that the sort of thing that can be done in MFME? I fancy trying to break a few games, even though it's utterly pointless and wouldn't achieve anything, I find tinkering with things like that puts a smile on my face

  13. Did the same with my Pi4 arcade cab, cut it down to just a few hundred games. It was just too overwhelming. I used to fall into the same trap with modded consoles, once you could access everything you stopped focusing on the games you loved and had actually invested in and they became more of a 'tinkering' device rather than someone to actually play games through to completion on. As for the original device mentioned in this thread, it's interesting but I've tended to stick to Pi simply due to the amount of people supporting it. Does sound like a decent enough device though, and the price looks reasonable for the hardware.
  14. Great stuff, remember when this turned up in a local arcade. Managed some rather nice streaks on it, mind you it wasn't cheap to play. Giving this a shot later on, thanks (Edit) Have given it a good play, and it's obviously Super, Smashing, Great! I played it a fair bit when it on site near here. Probably aimed more at players like me (players who would play Reds on Mega Spins and not bat an eyelid when £10 lasted 20 seconds on a £35 jackpot machine!). Didn't seem to get much love from other lo-tech players, I guess that's because the £2 spins didn't make sense to them when you could get crazy amounts from the Monopoly WOWs and similar at 30-50p stakes

  16. Looking forward to seeing what it actually looks like! When I put the layout together (released it quite a while ago now) it was based on a lot of guesswork. Given the issues I had with the guessing how the number trail worked, I look forward to seeing how it should actually be, and if it'll be possible to make it work correctly in the emulator in a DX layout.   17. I've been playing without plugging, the reel blasts tend to hit the lower values first from my experience, so while taking blasts with JP in view is risky, I've not had it force it on me (yet).
  18. From my experience of 'random' slots, I'm still not totally sure about them. I've got several random games on my own T7, and without wanting to be too technical, I can repeat the same behaviour on the machine, from the same 'state', whereby it'll block the jackpot for around £800, then drop in a couple of £500s in quick succession. Even if they are 'random', there appears to be some form of compensation / blocking behaviour taking place on the gambles at least, even if not the base game itself. Mind you not as bad as the Astra compensated slot I was playing yesterday, took £1100 before it offered a feature despite playing on the 'enhanced feature entry chance' £2 autoplay setting. Biggest win up to that point was £35, all gambles would lose before that point. Anyway after £1100 in it offered a feature, paid £335, gamble to £400 lost. Another couple of spins later, another feature, this time for £360 - and the gamble to £400 lost. After a few more features within the next £40 or so it caved and gambled out, then gave another feature for £335 or so which lost the gamble, then another feature for £365 or so which I took. Was utterly gobsmacked by it - I appreciate it's compensated but to take that sort of cash while blocking and then paying back-to-back jackpots (effectively, the second £365 I reckon would have gambled out shortly after just like the first) was incredible. All the more reason for owning machines and staying out of the arcades and bookies I reckon.
  19. I do have Pure Madness £100 on my Magic Party (Novomatic / Astra cab, same cab as iPub), will have to have a session on it. Also has the original Bar X game on £100 jackpot, had £100 hold yesterday for £200. Prefer the range of lo-techs on this to my T777, although that does have original Clockwork Oranges (£70 JP I think) whereas the Magic Party cab has Clockwork Oranges 'Five Alive'?. Also has Cops N Robbers themed copy of Casino Crazy Fruits, and some interesting other games, along with the usual 'community' lo-techs with dings for wild reels. [edit] Just had a quick go on it. It's got the 'Name Fill' thing on it, a bit like the Bar X Extreme and similar. Didn't have a long session but was interesting nonetheless. Have attached a quick photo of it anyway! Also, despite me saying £100, it's an odd one. It seems to be £25 jackpot on any stake, but does upgrade the values of the symbols somehow - when on the feature my £25 bells upgraded to £50?? Weird. Never a big fan of long sessions on lo-techs in arcades except for things like Bullion Bars, must have been stung a few times on some of the volatile lo-techs in the old days and it put me off them!
  20. Cheers for the video, and a pleasure to bung a layout together in 24 hours! So we had a Lotta Luck in the arcade, it was 10p / £5. Something I always thought was odd is that it had a weird 'fix' applied to it, whereby the test button on the MPU5 was obscured by a metal plate, like a quick bodge earlier in it's life. The reason given for this was that people were emptying it by dumping the hoppers - I now wonder if it was actually people doing the method shown on it, and the operator at the time didn't know how it was being done and just assumed people were somehow getting into test mode? I knew nothing about this method at the time, surprisingly similar to the Psycho Cash Beast / Frenzy method

Unless you can get them to show correctly, I couldn't I Did make a red art as I assumed the same, so it would be easy to implement, but like I say I don't think they turn red on this machine. Thanks for the feedback all, I will be revisiting this layout at some point I think for a bit more polish but I accomplished what I wanted to do (which is to take a flyer from my box and make a decent layout within 24 hours). I'd like to make my own number reels and probably sharpen up the base reels, and release it 100% fully working Something I did think was odd was that the red lamps on the trail do extend all the way up the stack (according to test mode at least!) but only positions 1>8 and START actually turn red when invincible. Maybe they'd intended for the whole stack to go red but it would confuse people who might think they had Taxi and Extra Life when they didn't?
  25. Apologies to the 1 or 2 who downloaded this layout as soon as I uploaded it. Seemed fine on downstairs PC. Uploaded it to site, went upstairs, thought I'd download it and play it on my other monitor for a change... and found out the red lamps on the trail weren't lighting. It was a transparency issue, sometimes (for reasons I don't fully understand!) I keep needing to 'reset' the transparency on lamps. Even though the trail lamps aren't transparent, they won't display correctly unless you select, and then deselect transparency. If you wish to do this yourself - enter EDIT mode (Ctrl+E on keyboard), then right click each of the trail positions on the right hand side of the machine, then click 'properties', and on each position you'll need to CHECK, and then UNCHECK the little box next to 'transparency', and then click APPLY to save each position. Once you've done this for each of the trail positions, save the layout (Menu at top of MFME window : Design > Layout / Game > Save Layout). Then exit edit mode (Ctrl+E again) and you should be good to go! It's a pain and it'll be something I am doing that causes this to happen. It shouldn't be an issue for anyone else that downloads it. Any more issues though do let me know
