Been working on getting the new fast renderers working for gameplay :) 

Plenty of graphical glitches etc, dot alpha doesn't work yet, clickable buttons don't work (only some keyboard controls). There's an inconsistent issue where MFME loading breaks after a few machines, seen at the end of the video.

Wonderful to walk around the arcade with the attract modes running.

It's a wonderful thing you are doing here John, I can't believe what I am seeing honestly.

One very minor point for the future but please don't forget invert Y axis for camera/mouse :D

Thanks man :)  I've added an 'invert Y axis' task to my Controls backlog, will get it in at some point down the line.

Hmm I guess I'd have expected it to crash when trying to actual load up/render an arcade running it through a VM.  That's just the launcher/patcher stuff - should just be accessing the internet to talk to your server, then DIFs server.

I wonder if its connection to download the files is non-standard as it's going through the VMs network layer...

I think the performance wouldn't be great even if it did work, inside a virtual machine... or is the 3d gaming performance good these days under VMware?

I've only purchased the basic version of the patching system, so I don't even have the code for a lot of what's going on during the patching engine (where it compares for missing/different files between local and server)... so I currently very likely can't fix this. 

I'll add it to my Trello as a todo to look into, and ask the developer about - but it will probably require either source code (~124 euros), or the patching system developer to do work to fix...

Sorry buddy, as I know you're not into Windows!  :) So I guess you don't have a dual boot machine with (non-virtual) Windows 10 on it..?  As I'm pretty sure it's going to be down to trying to run this in a virtual machine.  

Another thing I guess could be to try it under Wine for Linux, might work! :)

Also - just thought, if you're running it on VMWare, could try VirtualBox (or vice versa).

Well like I say, my guess is networking related - so maybe there's a slim chance might 'just work' if you try it under VMWare instead, in case that does some low-level stuff differently - I just feel bad you can't have a go yet  :) Though running on virtual machines is not something I'd have expected to work well/at all to be honest man! ;)

Nah it's all good, the videos give me a taster anyway. Might change the network settings and see if that helps... possibly disable adguard too. Hmm wonder if it could be down to my main connection being 4G

Oh interesting, it'll be cool if you can get it to work in a VM :)  Hopefully the framerate won't be too low/choppy if it does work under VMWare 🤞

Server is fine ( this side ) it looks to me that the installer is not where the redirect points to, this is one for @johnparker007 to look at if it's the files here - he has full access to make any changes he needs.

Sorry guys - I did a load of work, but then had problems due to the patch system I'm using (it falls over if a files is readonly, inside the precompiled patcher code which I don't have source for)... and couldn't fixlas night, so I just had to take the files offline.  Going to redo some stuff, and try get something working properly tonight.

Right, I believe I've sorted out a workaround solution for the patcher bug.  Hopefully, this will work for those who already have it installed (@dad) , but it might not!

If it doesn't update/restart etc and eventually get to the Arcade Simulator main menu - let me know on here, and I'll give manual steps - hopefully my workaround can work retroactively though.

In future, I'll get this all more robust, including a local testing area before I put the patches live and potentially break stuff - and other things so that it can start up when it can't find the patching server root online (because I've disabled it).

Remember this is pre-pre-alpha still and there are many bugs!  Please don't send me any bug reports yet, they will not be helpful :)  

Onto the good news for those early adopters ;)  If you have the latest MFME installed, this latest update 'might' work for you (it's not very robust at all yet, requires exe to be names MFME.exe, other things have to be set up as default settings in MFME etc), but, if it works on your setup, it does allow you to actually play the machines (by pressing enter when viewing a machine).

Big bugs to be aware of:
- your RAM won't be saved, so it'll be the same game each time you restart the machine
- the clickable buttons don't work yet since redoing lots of stuff (you have to use keys, some may also be missing)
- the dot alpha displays don't work
- if you have some momentum when you 'engage' a machine (with Enter key), you will be drifting along while playing, so when you disengage from the machine (with Esc key) you may be somewhere completely different!

...plus millions of other bugs - but this is living on the edge releases for the technically curious! ;)

Still not working for me.  The updater got to 125% then stopped with the 'failed' message.

Its fine though, I know you're putting a hell of a lot of work into this and I'm happy to wait till the bugs are ironed out.

That is amazing John, my system did crash but it has been playing up of recent, had a fiddle about and looks fantastic, I got to the root menu and moved a few things around first but also had two MFME's open at the same time what a twat. I can lose myself in this lol and you will end up doing the same thing Chris did to me when I first joined, I'll end up taking a week off work and was a great idea:D

Ok, for a quick fix you can navigate to:

- C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Arcade Simulator  (Where you replace John with your Windows account name)

- Delete everything in that folder (make sure Arcade Sim not running while you do that). 

- Then re-download and install, and you should be good :)

Well that's great, it sounds like you have patched ok :)  

If you walk up to a machine and press enter, there's a vague chance the machine will then load up (with mfme emulating in the background), and you can play on keys (0 for coin, space for start etc).  But it could very well not work!  Early days this :)
