  1. I had a quick look - these look like interleaved program ROMs (for Manic Miner), that have been quadrupled up.  So the files are 512kb each, but they are the same 128kb repeated 4x in each file.  So the total 1024kb, is really 256kb.  I see text like 'Proudly presents Whitbread Games' etc... so don't look like sound roms.

  2. Nice work, you can't beat a youtube slice 'n' dice! :)

Just yesterday I see there is a fresh video of this machine on youtube by a user Cherry Warrior ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0sOLMAP-A4 )  - he's a a bit shaky but does close up in focus footage for the most part - would need more stitching, but potentially higher resolution available, here's a quick frame I grabbed:

We have roms now for images?

The Fruit Machine ROM Archive only contains ROMs (an online mirror of @Geddy's full collection).  It is separate to the Community Drive, which only contains images.

I'm unsure about images, but there appears to be a great many Andy Capp ROMs available in the Fruit Machine ROM Archive, so you might find that £10 ROM you requested :)

Sorry for confusion, they're two separate projects:

    [ Community Drive ] The drive: http://tinyurl.com/yckze665
[ Fruit Machine ROM  Archive ] The archive: https://tinyurl.com/3jhzbueb

Hope that clears things up! :)

  4. Nice work Tommy, thanks - classic machines these ones :)

For future ref, there's a potentially better quality image source on the Community Drive (http://tinyurl.com/yckze665) for this one - might be useful for a future ultra high res 8k version or summats with some fettling, like this I did from a quick edit:

Right I'm off to have a quick play on your layout for some nostalgia! :)

Hey @vectra666 nice layout from @spa's arcade photo! :)

I had a very quick tweak with the blance on the reel image, in case you want to use them, no worries if not :)  Here's the comparison under the lamp masks in the layout:

...and here's the MFME .fml with the updated reels if in ya want it :)

Haha @Ginge pulling practically DX ready photos out :)  I see manufacturer Project, unsure if a newer platform than current FME?  Looks like a basic video ROM with probably an existing controller for payout etc... hard to say if/when will be emulated suspect it's a platform not yet covered... it all starts with ROM dumps and board photos/specs....

Would Joker Poker and clones run on mfme?

Do you mean one of these three similar video poker games?

None of them have the standard 'fruit machine prefixes' to the ROM names, someone could have a bash though, rom names are in the MAME window titles in the screenshots above.

I couldn't find anything either but the following comment from riche100 over at the mecca got me thinking there may be one floating around: 'alan road runner has dumped my rom and will stick in downloads, soon as he can for anyone interested'.

I looked at all RoadRunner's uploads, none of them were the rom unfortunately - I see you added a comment over there, maybe they'll turn up.

In the meantime, there's always even more queen games lol ;)

I am sure it was called   zillionaire's challenge by pure leisure, and the jackpot was £25.

there should be a classic of it somewhere.(maybe in the legacy section?)

Holy smokes, it's another queen game! :)  Was indeed in legacy section:

  11. Looks good @vectra666 :)  I have AI upscaled those new reels, and updated the layout with those new high definition reels, looks much sharper (especially on portrait monitor or 4k monitor) - here's the zipped layout, only updated the 4x reel images, not touched anything else, so hopefully easy to update your release:

    Add a Note £4 Dx+UpscaledReels.zip

Very nice work, with the new buttons, the original ones on the bottom were practically blank I remember! :)

All cash on these barcrests plays a better game it’s what I remember from chip shop days in 90’s Nickelodeon is great on £2.40/£3 cash they another I must update sometIme I’ll have to ask @johnparker007 to upscale on of those layouts??

I've just checked, @Tommy c did a version around the same time that had a (different?) higher resolution base image - note the buttons are legible on the TommyC (left) image but not the Vectra (right) image.  I think if possible you'd get a better result with an upscaled version of Tommy's image, since it has more detail?

    What do ya reckon? :)

  13. Nice :)

I did actually use to play the 2p Sunset Boulevard back in the 90s, it was in the front area of an arcade known locally as 'Big Smithies' (as Mr Smith also owned another, smaller arcade on the next corner of the same block - that one was known as 'Little Smithies').

If you have more of these MPU3/4 ROMs with chr problems, feel free to sling them my way, and I can have at least have a try, though I can't always do them with what I did on this one (I couldn't do Vectra's one the other week), so no guarantees of success ;)
