  1. Yes. I got Royley screwed over by one of them in the Crystal Rooms Leicester Square. I believe there's an emptier or similar for it, it took about £30 off me before it even gave me a board.
  2. Well definitely emulated. Looks like the layout for it, is possibly from the batch released just after v9.4 was leaked. The red lamps were an issue back then, as a sweep of the lamps, would wipe them out. Such a well known machine back in the day, that seemed to be everywhere. Definitely a modern makeover for this one would be great.
  3. It very simple Download v5.1 https://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/files/category/71-legacy-releases/ Open the .dat file layout in v5.1, then when you close the layout, it will ask to save it, say yes and it will save it as a .fml file, which will open in v20.1. Simple. As an aside.... Something you will discover, is that you will need to read the T&C message every time you open a different version of MFME, to the last one you used. So make sure you convert several layouts at a time or better still convert everything in one session. I would suggest you open v20.1, before you open v5.1. Otherwise you'll have to read the T&C's for v5.1, then read them again when you go to open v20.1. When you go to close both versions, close down last, the version you will open next time, so you don't have to read the T&C's again on that version. If you do it in that order, all the time, you'll only ever have to read one version of the T&C's.
  4. I had no experience of a Metroid game, until I played one on a Gameboy Advance emulator. May have been a remaster of the original NES or SNES game. I ended up sinking a good 20 hours or so into it, which is a lot for me for an emulated game. I was really enjoying it, before getting to the last section of the game, with Mother (IIRC). I just then got frustrated with it and never did complete it. Looking back, that was a real shame, because I had spent so much time on it and was my most played game, over that period of time. Never realised it was a female character. I also, thought it was clever, how the levels, unlocked in parts, when you get new abilities to access certain areas, that you couldn't get to before.
  5. This was a great game back in the day. I'd never had a PS2 or PS3 or original XBOX, so had no real experience of a Burnout game (since learned how brilliant they are). Got Paradise for the PC and loved it. Got the remastered version, a couple of years back and must say didn't play it for more than an hour though. The Forza Horizon games are very much like this and I've played the last 2 on PC, but I must say, even they get samey after 20-30 hours play.
  6. Seems very strange, they took so long. Try the Dxcellent part of the forums https://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/forum/26-dxcellent/ I don't believe the downloads in that section are affected by your download limits. You'll find the download links for the layouts, in the first post, of the release threads, rather than the download section. If you fancy donating, to remove all restrictions, you can find it on the portal page https://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/portal/ But, as we are a small community, it's just as important for people to get involved including joining in on the forums etc.
  7. Version 1.0.0

Gold Top A Maygay Machines, machine on Epoch Tech. £25 Jackpot, 30p Play, 82% Pay out As pointed out by PekoJPF, the machine is virtually a clone of the Epoch Coronation Street machine, (classic by Clo and DX by Socialdragon available). It's not quite 100% (the Gold Top feature is an addition on this machine), but it gave me a basis on how to lay things out. Sadly like the Corrie machine, this layout is also MUTE. No pictures of real machine to go by, so decided to lay it out as per Corrie. I decided to not put the word bonus on some hi-lo reel numbers, but instead try something different and have gold numbers for numbers which give a bonus (a bit like when a machine has red numbers indicating no-lose hi lose or super cash/feature). Also there doesn't appear to be a Trail Held lamp, although I'm sure it probably exist on the real thing. KEYS: ' = Cancel 1 = Hold 1, 2 = Hold 2/Hi, 3 = Hold 3/lo, C = Collect, E = Exchange, Space = Start P = Collect Cash Pot, F= Collect Feature 0 = Insert £1 THANKS TO: WIZARD (RIP) for the wonderful MFME emulator The program rom provider Pook for the standard reels and Vecs for the jackpot symbol (not the real one) Maygay for leaving FME alone, all these years
  8. Yep a great looking DX, hopefully one day, the bigger jackpot brother version of it, will get a cracking DX.
  9. This was the first game I loaded up on my C64. I got my C64 second hand and it came with several games. Immediately I was convinced, yes this is a step above, my Spectrum. I found the game to be so, so and fairly difficult, after the first couple of levels. Also, I attracted to how I saw it, the gamble feature, after the level, probably because it reminded me of a fruit machine gamble.
  10. I couldn't see why anyone would object to a layout being in the current arcade. I assume later down the line, people will be able to choose any machine from their collection to put in it anyway. With regards fruit-emu layouts, I think there was an issue well back in the day now and they all had to be reuploaded. Hence the vast majority saying ady.
  11. Hi. I've sent you a private message, which hopefully will solve it.
  12. Yes they are amongst my most wanted, along with another spAce tech machine called Circle Line by Ace (video of it on YouTube) and more Phoenix Electrocoin machines, like Mr Do and the Space themed ones. Perhaps the PCP space ones may be emulated in MAME one day.
  13. If you only have the version in the downloads here it will be straight v20. If you've never run the update, it won't have updated to version v20.1 which you need to update to, to avoid a lot of the newer layouts not loading. Check the about screen in the emulator and see if it says v20 or v20.1. If you've already got v20.1 then it's obviously something else. Let us know.
  14. Try to update MFME, click on file, then check for updates. Then try to reload it.
  15. Until FME, I didn't even know different technologies existed. But it's largely down to the technology used. But also the availability of roms. Thirdly that there may be something on a machine, that isn't emulated, such as coloured lights and it locks up the emulator. Scorpion 5/ MPU5 is the most up to date technology that can be emulated. Many modern day releases from about 2012/3 are on Scorpion 6. MPU6 is also quite old now from when it came out, but isn't emulated either. Going back even further some techs from the 90's/early 2000's aren't emulated, so it's possible some machines from that era also won't appear emulated. Some companies, still use Scorpion 5 though, so it's possible to see machines from 2019 or even later that can be emulated. We have a rule of not releasing layouts for machines where they are less than 3 years old. So it may seem strange even though a machine from 2013 can't be emulated, one possibly even from 2022, will eventually become emulated.
  16. First try using the update option in MFME, File/Check for Updates. If that doesn't do anything, then follow the below. When you install MFME, a file is created in the MFME installation folder, called gamesv20.0.db, make sure it exists and is not set to read only for instance. Another copy of that file, will also be created, where you select your main game folder, in the game manager. So click on game manager, then on database, then set the folder where you keep your games. If you keep your games in individual folders say Mfme/Games/Barcrest, Mfme/Games/Maygay, then just set the folder as the parent folder Mfme/Games Then do a scan all.
  17. Jumping Jack, such a simple idea for a game, with as simplest graphics, you'll ever see. But it had one of those, just one more go vibes about it.
  18. I did laugh when the dog bounced off the TV. Obviously a very frustrating game, but back in the day, we would have perseved, because we had spent our hard earned pocket money on it.
  19. I must say, I'd just come back home, after two 12 hour shifts this weekend and knew that while progress was being made, other hurdles, were still going to be faced, to get this in test mode etc... as it was really sensitive to the slightest wrong set up. But I'd had enough screwing around with it lol. So I'm pleased to wake up and see that it's been sorted now.
  20. It seems to be very sensitive to wrong button presses. I have it to asking to read meters with the following set up. Button 32 is start
  21. The answer is.............. Change the hopper type to serial.
  22. Never played Road Rash, but Rob Hubbard was a C64 music god.
  23. To be honest there are so many great games, it'll be impossible to select just 6. You need different lists really. They seem to have gone for those that they felt push the Spectrum to it's limits. I never liked those Head over Heels type games, always found the controls awkward and trying to jump onto items difficult to assess correctly.
  24. I just do it by the way Andy said. Sometimes it's frustrating, if you just want to find them out and stop playing a machine, as you may need patience for tokens, if you've had the streak from it previously and it's holding onto the jackpot. Like Vecs and Zippy said, you can just look at others for the same tech, normally it's the same I find for most machines of the same tech and manufacture. Only real difference, sometimes machine don't pay out 10p's. If it's coins only, most of the time, you could just put £1 in all the boxes, because coin sounds are normally the same anyway. But I do like to have it correct, if I can.
