    MFME

Back in the early 2000's, in work, we set up an old 486 processor based PC with Windows 98 on it. Back then in work, the internet was off limits for non work wise, as it still wasn't seen, as pretty essential in life. So It wasn't connected to the internet, but I put MAME and MFME (which was actually called MPU3/4 emulator then) on it. It was great for playing during breaks and downtime during night shifts. I guess you can have an old Windows 7 computer and not have it connected to the internet. There may come a time, when a Windows version comes out and MFME stops working on it. I'm pretty sure many members will have by then an old Windows 10/11 device, to make sure they can still use it. I certainly will.
  4. If you have issues with the layout in v20.1 I uploaded a fixed version in this thread.
  5. Have you looked through the Barcrest Gallery. Sort by caption if you want alphabetical. Of course it wouldn't be uncommon for another manufacturer to rip off the idea https://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/gallery/category/8-barcrest/
  6. I'd actually be interested as well. I never liked Cash Counter, but lots here did, so hopefully someone will know it, as I don't remember any such machine and probably would have avoided it.
  7. Just open up the cash door, let it initialise and then during its message on the aplha, it should show the target percentage.
  8. Surprised no one has answered this, but no is the answer. The only real restriction, is the technology that the machine runs/ran on, being emulated. There's not many, but some older techs and a couple of the newer techs from 2011 onwards, can't be, or haven't been emulated yet. I think most companies, with the exception of Nintendo, realise that you are not going to stop emulation.

    Deathchase

I got this, as one of my first Speccy game and one that would run on 16K (although I had a 48k model from the start). I remember reading a while back, that Retro Gamer magazine, were hoping for an interview with the game author. Can't remember if they did, get it in the end. Overall it's a pretty simple game, but I didn't care, as I had a ZX81 beforehand.
  10. The admin @pete_w will be able to assist with that.
  11. Back in the day, I used to have my collection on CD, still have a few CDs on my shelf with them on. Eventually I then moved to USB drives and then sticks. Now it just about fits onto a 32GB drive, with another slightly outdated collection on my laptop As for Ebay discs, well they've been frowned on for years. But I'm still 50/50 with that, as it's the easiest way to start, but do think then going forwards people should support the scene and not ebay sellers.

    Up'n Down

A very tricky/hard game whenever I've tried it. The Atari 2600 version, isn't as hard.
  13. I'm probably being thick but what's the connection between quiz machines and Scorpion 6 fruit machines.

Screen Play on 5p play, with a £6 jackpot. Not as awful and it may sound, as the lower amounts on the pay table have been set to reflect the price of play. I couldn't see a 5p layout, so thought why not. I guess the £6 DX could be redrawn to reflect 5p play as well, if Pook can be arsed lol. KEYS: `=Cancel, 1-3=Hold/Nudges 1-3, C=Collect Cash, Space=Start, R=Red, Y=Yellow, G=Green 0=Insert £1, 9=Insert 20p Token THANKS TO: Wizard (RIP) for the Screentastic MFME emulator. Pook for the 20p/£6 DX, which made making the layout much easier. The rom uploader/s Maygay and whoever owns them now for leaving FME alone

    Wadzilla

Doesn't look like sounds are available.
  16. The admin @pete_w will sort it out for you, as it's not automatic. But shouldn't be long.
  17. Stunning stuff. A massive shame, Wizard is no longer with us, he'd of loved seeing what could be achieved.
  18. I think they meant, the last time they used MFME, video based machines, couldn't be emulated. So they must have had an older version than v5 from 2016.
  19. I changed phones a while back as well. Same issue no email ever arrives. Luckily I'm still logged in on a couple of devices to the site.
  20. Not sure if you know, but on the Spectrum, Kevin Toms Football Manager, during the highlights part, if the opposition had a chance, you hit break, so it would go to the basic command prompt, then you type, goto 292 and they don't score. So once you went 1-0 up, you could just do the above and never lose. Or even if all the highlights were the opposition chances, you'd end up 0-0 doing the above.

Gold Digger A Bell Fruit Machine on Scorpion 5 tech. 10p Play, £5 Jackpot, 82% Payout KEYS: 7=Insert 10p, 8=Insert 20p, 9=Insert 50p, 0=Insert £1 (buttons for 10p=50p off to the right in edit mode) '=Cancel, 1=Hold 1, 2=Hold 2/Hi, 3=Hold 3/Lo, C=Collect, S=Stake, T=Transfer, Space=Start B=Bonus, K=Bank It, G=Play Gold Digger, D=Gold or Bust (think Deal or Bust) NOTES: Note changer, just for show. Buttons for 10p-50p input go into edit mode and drag or extend to the right. Can only be played on 10p stake, so change stake button useless, except for test modes. THANKS TO: Wizard (RIP) for the Golden MFME emulator Infection for the image of the machine to go by, a huge help in getting it done. The rom provider/s BFM and whoever owns them now for leaving FME alone. Gemini AI for creating the reel belt symbols.
  22. I do similar, with standalone emulators. I discover one, get some games, play them and then move on to whatever is the next thing. PS3, GameCube, Wii and Wii U was my last real obsession for a few months at a time. Semi interested in 3DS, PS Vita, but not the Switch, nor PS4.
  23. Discovering Mame back in 1998 possibly 97 was so exciting. Then I realised I don't like 99% of arcade machines. I remember keeping uptodate with it for a few years on and off. But stopped well back in the early 2000. I do and don't see the point of huge emulation collections on the one hand it's cumbersome and 99.9% of games you'll never play. But on the other hand, when you discover something maybe on YouTube or a mag like Retrogamer it's great to have it to hand. I very much drop in and out retrogaming, for months at a time.
  24. That's a great offer, it does appear to be on an unemulated tech though Scorpion 6. But then in the past many resources like pictures and roms, were gathered for techs that weren't emulated. I'm not into that sort of thing, but I'm sure if others who are, are interested, they will let you know. @infection
