  4. Oldtimer (Barcrest) [Dutch] 1996

    Hey Everyone!

    A new year, a new release! I hope everyone will enjoy this one.

    Oldtimer, released by Barcrest for the Dutch market in 1996. It was the answer for the new runners by Errèl.
    At the time, only the Random Runner could steal a point from the bottom game to play the top game.
    The 0/1 game then was THE TRICK to tackle this problem.

    This version is one of the more famous cabinets in the timer series with many re-releases.
    Classic lower game, a 5 credits (4 with a 0/1 game) upper game with criss / cross win lines and 4 piggy banks!

    Enjoy Oldtimer!

    Cheers, Dymies

  6. Overload - Barcrest

    So here it is my first layout (well technically second as my first was Rich & Famous many many moons ago). Its been great fun to be able to do layouts again especially with the new tools in MFME. Lamping is so much easier nowadays compared to years ago! Decent photos were used for stitching together and the reels were recreated from scratch.
    NAME: Overload
    MANUFACTURER: Barcrest
    CABINET: Genesis
    SYSTEM: MPU 5
    STAKE: 30p 85% £25 Jackpot
    Thanks to the following for help with the layout:
    @Wizard For the greatest emulator ever coded.
    @Steveir For the classic layout which I used for the lamp numbers and configuration.
    @infection For pointing me in the direction of the artwork
    @BL4K For the YouTube video which I used many times for reference
    @vectra666 For help with the overlays and testing
    @slotsmagic For the reel images
    @bungle For Lamping help and general guidance.
    Finally thanks to the following for Beta testing and spotting some silly mistakes:
    @Reg @Chopaholic @wearecity @vectra666 @slotsmagic

  7. Party Animal £25

    thanks to wizard for the mfme and work to enable such joy.
    also thanks to @MikeyPosh and his brother for the image and others i have to play with...
    and of course to the classic creator (unknown) and @dad for the reels used, @Tommy c for the button off images used amongst a few others as the original photo had mixed decals that needed to be changed, that and there was no simple way to make the monster icon for the bonus. thanks guys
    i had a few issues and it's mainly the font finding, i made as good a replication as i could but hey ho.. the mega and super text is imo the worst of the attempt.
    another gap filled in the library and from scratch instead of editing the only two decals that are different, coz hey why not haha..
    lastly big up's to @Ze Frog who's got the bug and @logopolis too!! keep em coming guys!
    enjoy and keep it mfme in 2023.. bin the virtuals and long reign the home builds.

  9. Psycho Cash Beast Club

    Firstly, I must apologise about the quality of this release.  I am still working through old layouts and I came across this one and considered that it was of very low quality and not to the quality of some of my previous work.  The trouble with this was the flyer may have well been a mirror it was that glossy and it was a pure pain in the arse to do.
    Rather than delete it, I figured I'd share this so you can choose to keep or delete it!

  10. Psycho Cash Beast Redraw

    In memory of Chris J. Wren
    Thanks go to..
    Wizard for MFME
    Geddy & Bugs for their classic (used as a base for this)

    Shortcuts included in the text file

    This was redrawn from the flyer by me in 2008 and has sat on an old hard drive since, a case of me being disillusioned by the fact that the more elements i had to redraw i felt no closer to where it should be.
    So i have decided to release it the way it was finished back then, probably a purists nightmare..
    Take it for what it is..
    Nick.

    **Update**
    Should be fixed now, knew i would cock it up.

  12. Red Rose

    Many thanks to @Mavroz for this one, without the rom he provided this would not be possible.
    This is looking like it was a failed test machine so this is one of the wonders of MFME that we can play machines we would never see in the wild.  There appears to be no pictures of it available so this was done using common sense and hope that it has been done right.
    An interesting machine, worth a play for the unique way it plays.

  15. Rio Grande £1000

    thanks to wizard always..
    thanks to @JamieGTR for providing me in situ hi res images and many many more of my little requests were accommodated also... thanks bud
    thanks to @Clo06 who got the pesky meters running for me, a simple fix i imagine but when you don't know there's always clo to help..
    against jamie's wishes i've left the garage background in place as i like to think its more realistic to the viewer. i did ponder on whether to do some side art for the gamble wheel art to be enlarged and also to allow for the meters to be in view during gameplay but i've been offline for ages and tbh i have been delaying this for long enough.
    the nudge font is not the same and is a sympathetic attempt to match it as best i could, happy to allow any bored fml heads with spare time to reproduce and improve.
    thanks to the previous dx/classic designers who had a £500 version in the legacy section with which i was able to find lamp numbers and test etc.
    small changes made to existing reel bands to improve the resolution on the wild and rio grande symbols.. imho i think the reels i made may have a few off pixel placements but it may also be my eyesight!!
    please feel free to send any mistakes that need improving as usual i will eventually do what i can to make them better.
    i have another glorious wip in the making with thanks to another user, it's not far off but i'm doing more health things that are taking me away from the screen and mfme i adore.
    as always best wishes to you all..

  16. Road Hog by Barcrest.

    Road trip back to the 90's...if only.
    There's a perfectly good example from @Ploggy, but this might be a little clearer on big screens just because the advances in image software and emulator since then.
    Massive thanks to;
    @vectra666 for his assistance in fixing a few snags regarding the hi lo reel and his pointers along the way when needed.
    @steve phipps for the classic.
    @Ploggy for the reels and original layout.
    @slotsmagic and @dad for extra image resources.
    And anyone in the thread pointing out things which were incorrect such as top glass sizing.
    Controls are;
    SPACE = Start.
    ` = Collect/Cancel.
    1,2,3 = corresponding reel.
    E = Exchange.
    0 = £1
    9 = 50p
    8 = 20p
    7 = 10p
    6 = token.

  17. Rock On (DX)

    This layout requires MFMEv19.4
    Hi Guys
    Here we have Rock On from Barcrest, made in January 1981, running on MPU2.
    Firstly...a special thanks to the following.
    hitthesix for setting this project up.
    RobT (fruitemu.co.uk) who owns the original machine, and was kind enough to send me helpful pictures, and give valuable feedback throughout the creation process.
    Richy1976 for collating and providing sound files.
    And finally @Wizard Who ultimately made this possible, and also updated MFME so that MPU2 and MPU3 tech runs brilliantly:))
    Short cuts and further info can be found in the Read Me file.
    Now go and give this machine a good thrashing:)

  25. Spiker The Biker - £5, £15 and £25 4K DX

    Here's a trio of Spiker The Biker layouts, made using my photos that I took at Skirlington Leisure Park. At least I think that's what it is called. It did have a retro arcade section but based on recent videos it looks like it's no longer running retro machines. Let that serve as a reminder to people - grab resources while you can, you never know if you'll see the machine again
    Anyway - back on topic. Layouts are £5/10p (I'd suggest upping to 20p if you want a faster game), £15/30p (you can drop to 25p if you want a slower game) and £25/30p (again - you could run at 25p but I prefer the speed of 30p at the higher jackpot).
    It's a brilliant machine in my opinion - I owned one years and years ago and still kick myself for selling it. Must be coming up to 20 years now since I owned it. For some reason it was never cloned. I'm sure others from the same era weren't either, but I don't get why it didn't perform that well. It's got a cracking sound package, decent art, interesting upgrade system, and quite a few 'hidden' things.
    Maybe it didn't do very well as it's a bit predictable - but I used to feel very 'safe' playing it?
    Hopefully the layouts are fully working with no issues - I've had a few lovely people - @Mort and @Boulderdash - cast their eyes over slightly earlier versions and they both picked a few issues up which I hope I've now corrected. Knowing me however I've probably introduced more issues as I've made those corrections. Fingers crossed I haven't!
    Some of the suggestions made I have not implemented but I will definitely consider implementing some of the ideas on future layouts!
    Thanks for @logopolis for providing a couple of different ROMsets for me - the £5 and £15 are running early ROMs (named : BIKE) - which is odd as I've only ever seen ROMs named SBTR before? The £25 layout runs the SBTR ROMs as the earlier ROMs aren't switchable for £25.
    Thanks to Adam on Facebook - I think he might be a member but he's not made himself known on here. He sent me great photos of his decals, insisted it was no bother and he wanted to help. Got me a bit more motivated to complete this release as without those decals it would have been £5 only and the decals I originally had looked terrible!
    Thanks to @Reg for the site. I'll still tag him even though the account is closed. Thanks to @Wizard as always for MFME and the last 20+ years.
    Thanks to everyone else who puts up with me and my ridiculously off-tangent WIP threads, waffling posts like this one, and who downloads and plays this release.
    Regrets? I built the layout on a tatty old 22" 1920x1080p display and only when I moved it up to my 65K 4K TV last night did I spot even more issues. From now on I will exclusively design on that screen, at 4K, from the off. Way, way easier to spot issues. Probably would have allowed me to get a more even result as well. Working on large art on a small screen at about 1/2 resolution makes no sense. In edit mode you can only see a teeny bit at a time

    Enjoy what is left of your bank holiday - and if you find any issues do let me know! I'll swear, punch my monitor, and then fix them (in that order)

    *NOTE* - I have unpacked the blended lamps, but this might be a bit hard for older / non-gaming PCs to run, especially during busy lamp cycles (jackpot sequence e.t.c.).
    Runs fine on my old and new gaming machines at 1080p and 4K respectively. If needs be I can release a fix with no blended lamps for those who need it. Will see what the feedback is like first.
