Road Hog Mad
Ohh No... I have certainly caught the Cab Build Virus (I Blame @Reg :D) In my previous builds I had an old Paragon Pro Quiz machine converted in to a home build and a bar top machine using an old laptop. The issue I had with the other 2 builds was space (and the wife constantly moaning), they were always in the way. Upon browsing eBay like I do periodically to see how much machines are selling for I saw an old none working wall mounted fruit machine, I think it was a German design, I thought that's an idea.. a wall mounted fruit machine in my den under the stairs. After grovelling to the wife for 30 minutes, rubbing her feet and cooking tea for 4 nights in a row I was granted permission to build a wall mountable fruit machine! I have posted a few pics of where I am up to, I have done a design and already have a 22" open frame touchscreen monitor (£80 off ebay with all the wires, not a bad price if you ask me), I have also ordered some I-PAC stuff from www.arcadeworlduk.com which I have used in the past. I also thought about trying a different mech (see pic) less wiring up, I'm going to have a 20p and £1 hopper as I had endless trouble using a 10p hopper (in fact I smashed the last one up in anger). The price was £5 less for each mech when I ordered, dunno why they have jumped in price!?!? Hoppers... I'm not that keen on using the Azkoyen Hoppers again as they're bulky (cost about £60 each) and the last one wasn't reliable at all, so if anyone has used different hoppers please let me know in here, I also need them to have overflow for when they're full (Azkoyen ones don't and I had to make my own which was a pain). The depth of the wall mounted machine I am aiming for 6 inches as I should be able to squeeze everything inside. Attached: Machine Build No. 2 (Bar Top Edition) Comments and Suggestions WELCOME!! Road Hog Mad
To keep the wife happy, I'm just doing a bit at a time, I'm conning her by incorporating in with other house DIY jobs lol. Today I have made a wooden bracket, this will hold the monitor in place on the front of the machine. Cost = £0.00 (wood, 2x2's left over from media wall I built and the wooden battens are from the packaging of a new tumble dryer we had delivered today). There is about 1/4" gap between the 2x2's and the top of the monitor (not flush in other words) that's because I'm going to have the screen slightly out of the front part by 1/4". So it's like a pronounced front, the play buttons will stick out 1/2" and the payout tray a lot further (unless someone has a slim line pay out tray, I'm thinking of using an old Bell Fruit Scorpion style one. Road Hog Mad
Note. This will also help with any crud jigsaw cutting out as you can seal around the edges with silicone and when painted it will look neat!

I had a few issues getting things to work as I believe you have to use a common ground for some of the wiring and laptops don't have one. It's a good concept yeah, but fecking fiddly! Plus... the laptop kept screwing up (I think it had bad memory or something, I had to keep re-formatting and loading windows as it got stuck in a boot loop). I prefer the PC way to do things

Getting everything into a 6 inch thick box will be amazing. Or impossible lol. I think it can be done. I've altered my original design, a lot of stuff will mounted on the front including the hoppers and coin mechs. It will also be a front opener. Gonna see if I can get a but of cutting done this evening and will of course upload some pics. Edit. Picked up some wood from b&q last night and they kindly cut it fir me. £33 a sheet of wood and nails. Road Hog Mad
@foiltravis So now you can see... the monitor will sit in the door like this... I decided to put the coin mechs down below which will go direct in to the hopper with a cut out in the door for the coins to spit out in to the payout tray. That's enough for tonight. @Reg Edited January 12, 2023 by Road Hog Mad

Road Hog Mad
A little more process this afternoon Installing some wires etc. A redundant i3 8gb motherboard, already have a 128gb ssd hard drive and 2gb low profile graphics card, did a quick power up and it booted to dos so it looms like it's good. 1

I could just subtitle it, couldn't I? I've got 2 large cooling fans so will probably put them in after. One lower than the other so it gets good air flow, also the motherboard has spacers which probably can't be seen. I've ordered some chrome sticky stuff off flebay too (to finish it off nicely) so I'll put that around the monitor when painted as I was pissed whilst using the jigsaw.
