    Gold Fever

There's a small DX available for this machine. It'll work on V19 gf.zip
  2. Follow the guide and you'll see it is pretty simple. There are some issues that make things more difficult. 1/ Lack of imagery and for me the main one 2/ When a machine has rubbish test modes, making lamps and reels difficult to work out, although it's still normally possible to finish a layout. Other issues can be setting up a machines reels, meters, doors and security in particular, but you can seek advice or look at other machines of the same tech, to get most issues sorted.
  3. Thanks very much, all up and running. Just completed the easy course, without issue. Few points to note for me: 1/ On fibre, download of Outrun file, didn't take more than 10 minutes. 2/ Extracting the Outrun file, can take quite a while, about 15-20 minutes for me. 3/ Had trouble setting up controller (wired xbox one pad, also wireless keyboard). Make sure general x-input is checked in game settings, if having trouble. Also make sure you move the controller left and right, when setting it up.
  4. Maybe just the thing to get me back into some retro gaming. I've seen videos of this before and I'm sure other games also run on it IIRC. Thanks for the guide and links will look at it later tonight.
  5. The original DOND was pretty unique, as you played the DOND game differently. I like some variants such as one where you get a DOND chance immediately. Also the first one that offered an extra gamble after the box is revealed. Other than that obviously the first true traditional DOND game was interesting to play. Double and treble DOND boards also mixed things up, as it gave the player a chance of working out what could and couldn't be in the box, after the first amounts were removed. Also I gave my first fruit machine playing tip in a long time to someone who didn't know that if the amount wasn't still available on both/all 3 DOND boards it wouldn't be in the box.
  6. Fairplay was the brexit of FME back in the day. A virtually 50/50 split community, with some thinking about the damage it could do short term to their favourite emulator and some looking at the greater long term picture. Hopefully by now, we can simply look back at it, as part and parcel of the history of FME. Ultimately everyone was a winner, the emulator survived and those who wanted a sticker got one.
  7. Really enjoyed that video. It was good that the machine didn't behave how you thought it would in the early stages and then showed how brutal it could be, if you stepped up to one that had just been jackpotted. As for the machines side by side, well I can take it or leave it, but I didn't find it distracting at all.
  8. Happy New Year everyone. Not been around much, not a 5 day hangover, but I find January and February horrible bleak months, so it takes me a while to get back into the swing of things.
  9. The C64 was by far the best for 8 bit music. Some stunning tunes. Love listening to slay radio. The Spectrum was OK, but not a patch on the C64. I do remember though discovering on the Spectrum, you could play the tunes through the tape deck you loaded the games through. That took it up a notch, although the adults in the house, weren't so impressed with Jet Set Willy or Manic Miner repeating for the hundredth time at high volume.
  10. Just dropping in here to say Happy Christmas to you and your family Degsy.
  11. Looks great, shift F3 mode is perfect for these sort of devices and others that can be used in portrait mode. Definitely a hidden gem, for those who don't read release notes.
  12. It's possible the slaves are off the screen at the bottom as it looks like you have a very low screen resolution. With the left shift key on your keyboard held down, drag the top box up, by using the left mouse button. You should find they appear. If they do appear and you get everything into view, then press ctrl Q and it'll close everything down, then reopen and it should remember the position of everything.
  13. Have you made sure v19 is up to date, load the emulator, click on about and then check for updates.
  14. Does anyone have any pictures of this machine, pretty sure it's not been done before. I have it up and running in a starter layout, but not sure it'll be done without a picture for reference.
  15. Damn it. Oh well it's not layout/game breaking, so I guess people can add them themselves. I forgot the number reel lamp as well. Hopefully with the artwork available, we'll see a modern DX of this.
  16. Converted Firecracker, a JPM machine. Looked into due to a question by infection http://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/topic/3823-jpm-firecracker/ Jpemu original by Pook, Disc reel sorted out by A:E. Firecracker - Jpemu conversion.zip

Fruit U Sir. An MPU5 machine by Red Gaming. Thanks to the rom provider. Thanks to the FMDB for the pics used to create the layout http://www.fmedb.com/fmedb/index Thanks to Brucegeorge for the use of the card reels, thanks to Wizard for the emulator. KEYS: Cancel = `, Collect = C, Hold 1 = 1, Hold 2/Hi = 2, Hold 3/Lo = 3, Stake = S, Take Feature = F, Start = Space, Gamble Feature = G, Gamble Bonus = B, Insert £1 = 0. A member mentioned this over at fruit-emu, Tommy set the challenge with a base layout and no one took up the challenge, so thought I'd give it a go. Originally was going to be for v6.1, but with the new angle feature for lamps in v19, I think it's made for a better layout.
  18. I must admit, I learnt a few bits from that last video, I had no idea that Apache wasn't just a reskin of Big Chief, until l watched the video. Certainly does improve on the Big Chief gameplay. Pretty sure I played an Apache in real life. Did it come in exactly the same cabinet, colour and everything else? Never noticed the hi-lo reel cut out and feature exchange points on the Big Chief cabinet before. I wonder if Big Chief was rushed out as a bit of a tester and the gameplay already thought up, saved for a secondary machine, namely Apache, providing Big Chief was a hit. Looking at the even better use of the DMD in Apache, they were really impressive for the time and if in a machine in colour nowadays, still would be. I thought the Ace DMDs were good (which they were), but seeing these Barcrest one again after all these years, they aren't quite as impressive.

Trailblazer £15 25p 82% An Epoch machine by Impulse Gaming. LAYOUT IS CURRENTLY MUTE. This version of the layout will work on MFME v19.6 and later. (there's a slightly different version, with less graphics for v6.1, pm me, if you want it) Keys: Cancel/Collect = ` Holds 1-3 = 1-3 Cash or Burn = C Exchange = X Start = Space Left HI =W Left LO = S Right HI = D Right LO = E Collect Cashpot = P Thanks to Wildcat for images used to create layout (I've reduced the pic size, but sure a DX could be done from them if sounds found), Vecs for symbols from Funny Money, the rom provider and last but not least the main man Wizard for the emulator. N.B, no cars were harmed in the making of this layout.

    Bikes !

Ahh, ok, I must admit, I've never been a massive music fan, other than Slay Radio.

You don't deliver bread up a steep hill with it, do you?
  22. Working at Paddington Station for 7 years I'd be OK understanding yer.
  23. He could probably do it in a Northern accent, but that means subtitles needed for the rest of the universe , so guess it depends on time constraints.
  24. It circumvents the download restrictions I think. Just the ram and gam files, would be useless to someone who doesn't have the layout. I did think when updating and uploading Jpemu conversions, it was a bit dodgy, but there weren't any download restrictions in place back then. Although at fruit-emu it was probably a bit naughty in the DIY fixes thread but no one seemed to mind/care and most were years old.
