Here's a classic I made over about 5 hours, albeit spread over a huge amount of time. Started off with lots of enthusiasm for it and then kept forgetting about it! I believe it's all working as it should. If you find any errors do please let me know. I've used the MFME font for the heart and fish symbols - if they do not appear as hearts and fish (see attached screenshot!) then please download and install the MFME font found here : Layout notes included with the download :
  2. I can see where you are coming from, but I'd be shocked if they are making any real money from it. Any that they are making will probably barely cover the costs of their production so as above, if it leads to more people seeking it out, and I'd say it's fair enough. Now, if they were directing people to 'buy' the games, that would be another matter
  3. Many thanks, missed the Kickstarter last time! Got a Vega through Indiegogo (crap!), forgot to back the Vega+ (dodged a bullet there!!). Kept meaning to pack this but ultimately forgot. Decided to hunt around after people started receiving but refused the prices they were going for, so hopefully these are sensibly priced and I remember this time
  4. ... how did I miss that?! Also the layout looks a bit washed out on this monitor. It looked fine upstairs, so either I've done something wrong while archiving, uploading and downloading the layout on this other PC, or it was always a bit washed out looking and just didn't look it on my other monitor. I'll almost certainly be revisiting this at some point, I'll also gladly scan the flyer and upload to anyone who wants a high-quality one so they can do a better job!

Well here's a DX of Red X, there are some points to note here which I will look to sort out on future layouts! 1) I have used a lot of blended lamps. I hope it runs well for you, it runs fine for me. If you PC does struggle with it, let me know! 2) I really needn't have made the layout at 2160px tall, especially when my base art was a grainy flyer! 3) If you open the doors you will need to enter EDIT mode and go to the right of the layout graphics, where you will find a button called 'LOCK', and a checkbox under it. To clear the DOOR LOCKED alarm you can just click the 'LOCK' button. If that doesn't clear it, you'll need to check the checkbox under it. With those bits out of the way - I hope this is a fully functional DX for you. It works fine for me! It's not perfect but I think it's about the best I can manage at the moment. Hopefully better resources appear at some point RED-X_DX.zip
  6. I've got the flyer here, quite fancy a go at doing a £15 layout myself? Flyer isn't great but is on the original £15 which is a positive I guess

Well here it is, one of my favourite (or at least most memorable) AWPs of the past 20 or so years. Maybe it was the music, maybe it was the amount of lamps, or maybe it suited my 'forcing' style and the locals were too scared to push it, resulting in it paying for many a night out Notes (copied from the layout) : I forgot to thank @Mort for the ROMs again, so am thanking him again here. Cheers!
  8. Valid point, I wasn't sure if they wouldn't or not but I guess I've not seen many machines where they spin upwards. Absolutely fixable. Will redo the reel positions and update the layout later on. Obviously it works as-is so there wouldn't be any need for people to download again unless they were annoyed with the reels (edit) @Wizard - I've set the reels to reversed, set the symbols to default numbers, and saved the layout. I then reload the layout, start playing the machine in real money on auto-play, and start dragging the symbols into place according to the alpha display and lamps. However, this doesn't seem to work. It's almost like the bands are moving throughout play. Any ideas? For example, the first position on top reel 2 (reel 7 in the reel editor) seems to alternate between a horseshoe and a sheriff badge at random! Happens to lots of other symbols - just when I think it's sorted, it seems to go out of sync without erroring. Any idea?

Here's a nice simple game from Vivid - nothing particularly amazing but couldn't see an existing layout despite the ROMs being out in the public domain Additional thanks to Wizard for helping me several times when I was about ready to give up on this, as well as obviously his continual work on MFME, and also thanks to @infection for his image of the machine so I could at least see what it should look like. I've deviated from it a bit but it was a big help Layout notes below, and as always, any issues /mistakes please let me know and I will endeavour to update the layout to fix anything!

I feel this layout is about as complete as it will ever be, so here it is! If you find any issues with it, please do let me know by replying here or by private message and I can upload a fixed version As I've mentioned in the layout release notes (quoted below), the note acceptor may or may not work. Doesn't work for me but did work for vectra666 who I sent it to. Same thing happened with my Wheel of Wealth layout, so if it works for you let me know... if it doesn't work let me know too. Any feedback and / or suggestions more than welcome! Enjoy

    On The Up

I played it with real money while testing it, I was trying to work things out rather than play it well so it'll owe a few jackpots from when you open it If you want a more realistic experience you can reset the RAM via the config screen

Here's a £25 layout that I've been working on the past few days (like you haven't noticed the way I posted so many updates as I worked on it!) I'll gladly make a £5 version tomorrow, won't take long, and would use the existing ROMS. Just thought I'd get this out now as I was late back from my trip out and really need to get on with some exercise now before it gets dark Here's the notes from the layout. Worked fine for me before release, so I hope it works fine for you now! Any issues just reply here or chuck me a PM. Have fun
  13. There should actually be a piece of artwork covering the bottom of the reel - it's probably where the reel opto sensor and stuff were hidden on the original machine. If I get around to doing a fixed version I'll implement it

Well here it is, my first attempt at a DX. Made my own classic to start with. This layout will be far from perfect as this has been as much about me learning the ropes as it has been producing a new layout by finding some ROMs and a flyer for a machine which I don't believe has been done before. It's pretty much a standard £25 jackpot Bell Fruit machine but with a disc reel rather than a band-reel or superboard which most machines of this era have. This machine will have flaws - like I said above I've been trying to work out what I'm doing and already know thanks to @vectra666 among others that I've been doing things in a very long winded way when there are tools in the emulator to do things much more quickly! I've mentioned a few bits issues in the notes section (quoted below), if you find anything that needs fixing feel free to post and I'll do my best to fix the layout. Apologies to Reg for the chonky filesize! Enjoy, and if you don't, feedback is welcome!
  15. I dread to think. Possibly £200 or £250 rehashes of existing £500 B3 machines in pubs limited to £1 play? To be honest I'd probably rather play one of them than some completely dead compensated cat C that somebody has used methods on and left dead for the next player. Don't quite get why private members clubs are limited to £400 jackpot at £2 play when you can walk into an arcade or bookies and play for £500 at £2 - the exception being B3A lottery machines which I sometimes did well on, and sometimes were utterly appalling. Note - I'm currently in a 'gamble free' phase do don't intend to gamble in pubs or arcades even when they do reopen (except possibly £5 jackpots and pushers e.t.c. at seasides!)

[Note - this is my first layout and was an experiment to see if MFME v19.8 had better multi-coloured lamp handling than previous layouts - it does, and the lava lamp is working perfectly as far as I can tell]
  17. Well this is interesting (to me anyway!) Before stopping last night I worked out the cash trail manually, as well as the bits around the features that light up, 'Fat Bastard' mystery choices and a couple of other bits. I'd tried lamp test at the beginning but it went straight to the 'flash' test, which tests all lamps, making it useless to me. I assumed that this was because all lamps were visible on the layout (albeit not labelled) and therefore it assumed all the lamps worked. I've been having a play about in the config screen and checked the 'lamp test fail' checkbox - and now it's giving me all the individual lamps! Should be nearly done now, just working through trying to get the lamps for the names, reels, and a couple of the characters on screen, as well as working out how to get the LEDs around the 'disco' button to work One little snag though - I seem to have locked the width and height of the layout! I can't drag my window to the right any more and now have sliders at the top and the bottom. Any of you more technical types know what I've done wrong?! Thank you all for your help, I know it's not a new layout but it's given me something to work on the past few days and it's actually been pretty therapeutic, bit like a logic problem (with the way I'd been working everything out manually up until now due to not knowing what I'm doing!) P.S something that made me laugh - I knew this was a clone of King Kebab, but didn't realise the test mode would have all the King Kebab lamp names!
  18. I thought it would be a lot faster using someone else's reels but it's still taking ages! I mean it saved me a lot of time (cheers Johnnyafc!) but the actual moving things about and making things light properly is taking a long time. Just a case of messing about in demo mode until the bits light that I need! Looking a bit better now mind. Got the desired result on the lava lamp - the new version of MFME handles the multi-lamped things on this and King Kebab significantly better (from memory!). Just got to work out the lamps for the cash trail up the right, the mystery options, and the characters then it'll be pretty much done. Oh, need to add a legend for the winplan too. Got rid of the purple background. Tried a few different shades but something didn't seem right!
  19. I've been working on this on and off for a few days (don't judge the layout harshly at this stage, I'm still working lamps and things out before doing any real tidying up!), was going to attempt to work out the rest of the reel symbols and thought I'd see if there was another classic as if not I'd release it publically, if there was there wouldn't be much point! Turns out there already is a classic in the legacy area by Johnnyafc from 2007! I'm still thinking that a new classic would make sense for me as it'll have all the working lava lamp sections working since they have 8 lamps (2x4 coloured lamps) per section. I've worked all of those out and still plan on completing the layout. Something I did wonder though is Johnnyafc seems to have all the correct reel symbols for his layout (if you see my pic I've been working from scratch). Am I allowed to use these other symbols or do I need to source my own? I don't know rules of decorum for resources on here. Ta!
  20. @justme2019 Here's the layout complete with ROMs and a RAM I've been playing with. Owes a fair bit so will give a few invincible boards from the off. £5_25p.rar
  21. So much easier when you find the location of the second test switch! Really wish I'd kept my old Austin Powers (don't remember if I scrapped it or sold it), but wish I'd kept the reels and decals if nothing else. From memory the main differences were just more rounded bar symbols with the word SWINGER across them instead of BAR, and the sevens were more... funky? This will keep me busy tinkering for a while. Won't reply to this thread again as don't want to keep bumping it up the front page but thanks again Wizard and everyone else on here
  22. I don't believe it! That was about the first thing I set to disabled and was convinced I'd changed it back at some point but hadn't! Cheers
  23. Austin Powers : apow02s.p1 > p4 King Kebab : kbab11s.p1 > p4 Odd thing is I actually had Austin Powers boot! I then saved the layout, saved the game and reloaded. Now it's back to ALARM 30-51 m5austin.zip m5kkebab.zip
  24. Hi all, Wanting to try making a few classic layouts. I could just modify existing ones but that isn't my style, so starting from scratch is what I'm trying to do. Having got some MPU5 ROMsets loaded from planetemu.net and changing a few settings I can't get past these 'ALARM 30-51' errors on the alpha. According to the MPU5 field service manual these are MUX errors I think? I've tried playing with MUX5E checkboxes, making sure I've got all the lamps I can physically fit onto the screen, but still no luck. I know these machines are Genesis so have left that selected. I'm sure I've tried every possible permutation of options within the Config screen and still the same!! Can anyone shed any light onto what I'm doing wrong?! Ta
  25. Many thanks for that! I think I replied without refreshing so didn't see your post.
