  1. Can you send me all the pics you have of this machine. I'd certainly take a look at it. If you could zip the images up and PM them to me that would be awesome J
  2. I loved to watch the LaserDisc games. Remember Mach 3. Can anyone remember Star Rider by Williams, it blew me away. Loved art style, mixture of film and overlaid graphics. I always remember it had a rear view mirror on screen. Here is a youtube link. I added this version as someone has overlaid a soundtrack to accompany the visuals. I don't think the original had any music but the soundtrack added to this video is inspired, really goes with the visuals. J
  3. No seen one in years personally. Were have you seen these? Mr P's possibly? J
  4. One of my favourite consoles, I still have my SNES. I played 3 games to death... Super Mario Bros Super Mario World Donkey Kong Country 2 J
  5. Loved the soundtrack on this, was pretty manic. Sorry I meant the Tehkan version not the Tecmo games... J
  6. I remember Tecmo World Cup, there were a load of little tricks to score, I remember that it was possible to score from the goal kick in some instances. Nice tracker ball game for sure. J

    Pink Panther

Many thanks for this Reg. I think it’s possibly a Mazooma machine. J
  8. So fond of those 8bit days. My first computer was a Vic20, everyone else got Spectrums, so I was the odd one out. I did have some fun times using it though and with the 16k ram pack fitted there were some pretty decent games to play. I used to play Perils of Willy and Wunda Walter to death. My pathway to the Amiga was Vic, Spectrum, Spectrum 128k, C64. I did have most fun on the Spectrum, all my friends had them so C90 full of games was nice back then. J
  9. I used to collect Retro Gamer, hand all the early issues with the DVD etc, now I only buy the annual copies, it pretty much has all the best bits over the year. They do seem to repeat stuff which can be annoying. J
  10. I still have a Sinclair Programs. I also have some excellent copies of C&VG from 1983 to 1985. Not as good as Crash or Zapp64, review wise. J
  11. Graphics were colourful but blocky on C64. Spectrum had detailed graphics with colour clash. My good mate was over at mine last weekend and he showed me a ZX Spectrum game that he is working on in his spare time and there are coding techniques to have multicolour graphics with no colour clash, he showed me the main title screen and you wouldn’t think it was a Spectrum screen at all. J
  12. Giana Sisters will be worth a small fortune. Pretty sure they’ve gone for over a grand on eBay. The game was withdrawn from stores shortly after release, so is pretty rare. 3D Moster Maze was s brilliant ZX81 game. J PS Would love to see a pic of it if you have it. I remember getting about £75 for my Ultimate Boxset on eBay.
  13. Totally agree. Both Bomb Jack and Commando by Elite where superior to the C64 versions, graphics wise. The Rob Hubbard soundtrack on Commando for the C64 was pretty decent though. J
  14. I used to love the Christmas editions. I loved both Crash and Zzap64. Brilliant magazines. J
  15. Bobby Bearing was an excellent game released by The Edge. I never really played Inside Outing, I had my C64 by then but by 1988 I wasn’t playing computer games on a regular basis. In 1989 I got my Amiga, I didn’t play a great deal of games on that to be honest, I was really into music creation and started using Noise Tracker, got one of those sampler carts and this is what I mainly used my Amiga for, this and Deluxe Paint. End of the 8-bit Era

Yeah I remember seeing the adverts and being a little upset and sensing an end to an era and that soon everything will change for me, I would be leaving school soon and I just wanted to pause time..... But, the 8 bits had a decent run for their money, the ZX Spectrum and C64 had game releases well into the 90's, that's really not too shabby. Also the Atari ST was available in 1985 and had games released for it, the Amiga 500, 1987. I just feel blessed that I was a kid growing up in the 80's, such a brilliant era. J
  17. You can't beat the look of the Vector based games, they look timeless. J
  18. Living on a seaside resort I was exposed from an early age to both video games and fruit machines. A few of my favourites over the years from mid 80's are Phoenix Star Wars (sit down) Tron Circus Charlie Pacland Wonderboy Rygar Wardner J
  19. I didn’t know anyone with a Mattel Aquarius, I can’t remember seeing any games on that specific system, it was Z80 based like the ZX Spectrum, it was released in 1984, way too late to have any kind of impact, also 4K ram didn’t help. J
  20. One of mates at school had an Amstrad, he got battered. J
  21. No worries Dad, let me know fella. J
  22. Ultimate, TheEdge, Hewson, Odin SabreWulf, Fairlight, Cybernoid, Robin of the Wood
  23. Let me know if you want the composite video mod doing Dad, did it on all my Spectrums, fairly easy, just means you can plug it into a modern TV that doesn’t have an analogue aerial ;). Also I’ve repaired a few with blown ram if it doesn’t work I can fix it for you J
  24. I just think the ZX Spectrum was and still is an iconic design. Here is an arty pic of my old ZX Spectrum 48K Issue 2. I really should have cleaned it up a bit better.
  25. We used to swap copies in the playground. Our computer club pretty much just copied games
