serene02 2,380 Posted November 5, 2018 Report Share Yeah I remember seeing the adverts and being a little upset and sensing an end to an era and that soon everything will change for me, I would be leaving school soon and I just wanted to pause time..... But, the 8 bits had a decent run for their money, the ZX Spectrum and C64 had game releases well into the 90's, that's really not too shabby. Also the Atari ST was available in 1985 and had games released for it, the Amiga 500, 1987. I just feel blessed that I was a kid growing up in the 80's, such a brilliant era. J Quote Link to comment
wearecity 3,853 Posted November 7, 2018 Report Share I used to drool over the Silica Shop adverts. I eventually got my Amiga A500 with my first decent pay check sometime in 1988. Got it from Silica shop itself, Sidcup being less than 10 miles from me. I remember it came with a bunch of games, a poor Arkanoid clone and Thunderbirds amongst them. Quote Link to comment

J you needn't of worried, when you started seeing these ads in 1985 the 8bits still had nearly 10 years of life left in them before obsolete! Quote Link to comment
serene02 2,380 Posted July 12, 2020 Report Share It's not actually obsolete in certain circles, people are still writing games for it in 2020. The spectrum demo scene is still very active as well, some amazing demos by some seriously talented coders. J Quote Link to comment
