Thought I'd follow up the photos of the cab with a video. MFME starts at 1m27s for those who can't wait. A fair bit is mute, probably not enough! Hope you like it. 😀

love  it  :D

Gonna have to have a gander at this thread a bit more later, interested to see how and what people have done

So finally finished my small bartop icade conversion. The cabinet lent itself perfectly for the job although was certainly tough trying to squeeze everything in!

So I bought off Ebay an ION Icade off eBay for £18, a HP 15" 4:3 touchscreen monitor for £12 and a Dell micro PC for £40. I ordered an Ipac, Pac drive and a load of buttons from Arcade World along with a Barcrest button and 5v leds off eBay.

I had to cut the top pieces of the side panels off the icade to accommodate the monitor which I stripped out of it's casing.

I wanted the sound to be pretty good as that's the best part for me, the nostalgic machine sounds and music so I fixed a 2.1 edifier PC speaker system to it. The sub on the top and the satellite speakers in the back as didn't want them sticking out.

I simply used sticky back metal effect plastic on the sides. I replaced the control panel for a nice bit of wood.

I used 10 main buttons, an exit button on the left side and a coin one on the right as well as 2 small buttons I use for volume under the fake coin slot which I wired to a USB on the PC.

I am very pleased with the way it turned out 😀

Took a gambling awareness sticker off my old reel king machine today. Cut it up and slapped it on my little cab to finish it off nicely 😁

Very impressive !!!

I have one of these in the loft - although I don't need to make another cabinet as I have one - I really love what you have done here.

What a brilliant job !!! Definitely looks tight in that control panel so I bet that was fun squeezing everything in!! You've made a cracking job of it all though and I completely agree with you about the sound being really important (second only to the smell of an old arcade). Great work :)

Looks great!

I was thinking of stripping out my bartop Raspberry Pi 4 based arcade cab I made a few years back, removing the marquee section and putting in a portrait mode screen to make a compact little cabinet for the bedroom.

Although coin in and out would be very difficult in the cabinet (could be mounted externally?), it would be nice to have a compact little MFME machine to go with my full size cabinets :)

Attempting to quit gambling since January 1st 2025.

These are all great—-amazing what can be done and everyone’s different ideas ….and using what’s available ——I’m definitely going to get the finger out and build something —-especially like no1 storeys set up —o want to make something countertop and compact with a working payout system just for my own money box use —-great information and pictures folks

I was inspired a few years ago by another member who got MFME running on their virtual pinball cabinet.  I finally got around to finishing a removable MFME controller for my vpin cab.  Fun little project, and I hope to build a complete fruit machine cabinet with coin mech and hopper someday.  Thanks to the creators and community that make this all possible!!

Also, here's a little gameplay:

If ever you are wanting to sell please, I am looking for one.  Particularly that will run 2 monitors via hdmi extended desktop so I can mount another large landscape monitor on the top of the machine and do extended desktop for top boxes, party time etc.  Was wondering, if most of these payout in 10p and £1, what happens if you play token machines and win £4.80 in tokens etc....?  Would it just give it out in cash 4 X £1 and 8 x 10p?

Not sure others machines but, for the one I built, I wrote a small accompanying bit of software that tracks the payout value in MFME and just pays out whatever it counts via two hoppers (£1 and 10p) - although it accepts payments from everything from 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 -  so, you are right, for £4.80 in tokens or money it would just chunk out 4 x £1 and 8 x 10p but others might have added other functionality.

I think anyone can program nowadays with the advent of ChatGPT etc. Just tell it what you're looking for and it will be able to help. :)
