Thanks Chris. Got to be either some sort of weird firewall issue. The first time it tries to update, doesn't windows firewall ask you if you want to allow it or not? Whichever firewall you're using, I'd add a rule for mfme just in case to give it incoming and outgoing rights. If as Chris has said you can access the forum, it won't be any special ports either, just 80 or 443 which will already be open. Got a lovely Smoothwall box here. NQ.

Just going back to this, for my entire playing "career", I've always found this to be the case. I've not played for appox a year, and machines that were gagging when time was called late on Sunday, after the engineer has visited on Monday morning, were totally dead atferwards. Going back years, I'd read "get this feature it's a JP", but when trying it, it would cost you more than the JP to get it. Probably everyone was doing them, but come on, on a machine that was in a dales pub, that was only open 2 nights a week, and you're expected to believe it was being done? Despite the same reels showing the same days apart? In fact, despite what info folks have told me, last emptier I made a "living" off???? Donkey Kong, so i can say that, in the last 20 years knowing anything made me lose more. Only other ones I've seen cost mega money. Supercharged was offered to me at 6 grand. 6 grand!!! The idea being, you're near the top tier, punt it on for a grand a week before it was chipped to as many as you can. That was what, 18 years ago? Either on internet forums, email, youtube etc there's bullshit about, "pros" are doing okay, or the manufacturers know exactly what's going on, and apply updates as appropriate (which you can't disagree with obviously as they're a business). I'm 49 in September. When all this started I was 29, and reading mulptiple forums many times daily, was a piece of cake. Now is it just me, now 20 years later, we've only 4 forums really, (One that's cack, one thats more the electronic/electomechincal side, one good but quiet (Dads), and here, where it's bat shit crazy with loads of posts) and I'm only reading one, namely here, and I can't cope. Back in the day used to comment on everything, now I want to comment, but just look at all the posts and think, "I haven't the time". Yet years ago, it was far far busier, and we managed. And we had IRC, Newsgroups, real chats on the phone, other forums, real meet ups, being pissed 24/7, stoned, tabs, substances, work, lasses, family etc. Now I read two threads, and say "that's me done for today", 20 years ago I'd have stayed up all night to read stuff. Now where's me slippers, cardie, and cup of hot choc. N auld git Q.
