    80's arcade games

Looking at the pics I'd have to say Star Castle, but remember its well over 40 years ago lol

    80's arcade games

Nope not that either, the closest match so far is Black Widow.

    80's arcade games

Nope, not that one. It had wireframe graphics which were all green, no other colours.
  4. Ha! I used to sell stuff like this when I worked in a Model Shop years ago. "Bandia" stuff was mega popular with hand held Space Invaders and Galaxians games....... we sold shitloads of those. I used to spend a good half an hour every Saturday evening playing with all the stock lol
  5. Bloody right it is. I'd shag that Altaira

    My first pc computer

My first PC? I can't quite remember much about it apart from it was an Amber Screen and lasted about a week. I then got into the Amstrad 1512 range, then the 1640 (fuck me EGA a full 8 colours, cheer bliss lol), plus a 20MB hard drive fitted which at he time cost £395 for the HD alone. My fist 'proper' PC was an Elonex 386 with 2mb of Ram which cost me £44 to upgrade to 4Mb running windows 3. After that I went through just about every revision & upgrade going till about 10 years ago, when I'd just about had anough as things got stupid. Having said that I've recently bought myself a gaming laptop

    80's arcade games

Nope not that one. If I had to date it I'd say 78-79.

    80's arcade games

Extremely close!! This looks like an updated version of the original game. The one I recall just had one colour (green). Same principal - destroy the ship in the middle by shooting away the web and as in this vid you could fly off the screen and come back the opposite side.

    80's arcade games

Thats very very close but not the one I remember, it was a little more basic than that . Thanks for looking though.
  10. Thanks When I get a mo' I'll dig it out and test it. Pretty sure the last time I tried it had some issues.

    80's arcade games

In my local arcade I was one of only two people I knew of who could clock the original Space Invaders round to zero again. Obviously we'd usually leave it on 9990 then wait to get killed off so no-one could beat the score There's one game I used to play the name of which escapes me and I can't find details anywhere. It was green wire frame graphics that looked like a spiders web, and you had to shoot your way through to the center. You conrtolled your little spaceship the same way as asteroids and had these little fizzy ball things that came off the web and chased you around the screen and tried to kill you off. It wasn't Tempest as I remember that one but fairly similar. Any ideas?
  12. All things considered I'd have to say Codemasters.
  13. Speccy 4 me. Never owned a c64 not did I ever want one. Played my sisters once and thought it was crap. I'm pretty sure the Speccy was resposible for getting me into programming. I spent hours keying in bits of BASIC code from books and went on to simple machine code, most of which I've long forgotten. I also had a multiface where you could freeze the program and tweak various things which led me to write an infinate lives POKE for a Dizzy game One of my all time favorite games was Star Raiders II Might even get the old girl out and see if she still works
  14. Still got my rubber key speccy tucked away somewhere. Not sure if it even works now. I also had a 48k & a 128+2 with the light gun & remember playing fruit machine simulator till 4 in the morning lol Be interesting seeing what this thing can do though! Oh yeah, Dizzy still rules
  15. Looking good, and thanks for the 'plug' Reg. Was an avid Crash reader back in the day along with the other two sinclair mags. Really wish I'd kept all my speccy stuff but gave it away to a charity shop years ago. I still have a 48k rubber key job kicking around somewhere though hehe. BTW the Dizzy games were by far the best IMHO. I wrote a infinate lives crack for dizzy 7 using a multiface and sent it in. Not sure if it ever got published.
  16. I have said it many times that a fruit machine addict (and yes I've been there) actually WANTS to lose. It’s a kind of self-punishment!! Winning on a fruit machine no longer gives the buzz as it should and only prolongs the agony of wanting to get rid of your cash as fast as possible because we all know that it'll end up being put straight back in. I know a chap who recons he's a pro-gambler and never loses - yeah right!! He came to my door one day waving three grand in cash saying look what I won last night, six Jackpots on machines like Rainbow Riches, Elvis & Reelking etc...... Within another two days it'd all gone plus a good wedge besides. This isn't some numb nut, he's a highly qualified bloke in his 50s with a wife and family but the trouble is he lived within walking distance of the arcades, it was all too easy just to nip round. A few months later he admitted his massive addiction and took the huge step of moving house simply to get away from temptation as he was about to lose everything. I kind of lost touch with him for a while until the other day when I heard that he now drives 50 miles plus almost every day just to play the machines again. How can you help someone who’s that addicted? It’s a sad state of affairs. I live within walking distance of some seaside arcades and occasionally pop in, more to help with emulation than anything else but I'm fully aware that it wouldn't take much to take me down that dark path again. I like to kid myself that I have it under control now which is kind of true I suppose as I've not gone mental for years but I'm under no illusion that gambling is in my blood and probably always will be. I'd advise anyone who recognises they have a problem PLEASE just TALK TO SOMEONE and tell them. There is no shame in admitting an addiction and talking about it really helps. If need be, get professional help. Some of the chaps on here and the other fruit machine forums have been through the same problems, some are still very much experiencing the pain of addiction and living a miserable existence because of it. If that's you, all I can say is you’re not alone and if you want some good help and advice then this is a good place to start.
  17. I remember that very well. I still mention it these days when the topic of fruit machine addiction crops up.
  18. Any size will do so long as they’re nice and sharp and free as possible of reflections. My party fruits WIP isn’t going that well due to the piss poor photos I took so i’m really looking forward to seeing what you can get. much appreciated
  19. Agreed! Good to see an acknowledgement for one of the best DX'ers the scene has ever had. Long may it continue
  20. Good to see you here Dave.
  21. Yay! There's my old Top Tenner avatar at the end which I had for years.
