  1. No worries! Was it in the Harris Amusements? Last time I was there (a while back) they had quite a few Fair Games upstairs along with all the old Bar X flat top cabs. I love to have a proper session on one of them and try and get the Crazy Money streak out of one but I'm too scared incase it takes hours and like £100 despite only being 10p play!
  2. The one in thinking of is a Fair Games machine? See attachment for Cherry Win Falls but it sounds like the game you are thinking of. If so I'm afraid not. I'm sure they run on Pluto but is either some unemulated version of Pluto 5, or Pluto 6 which isn't emulated at all.
  3. Regarding spares, new is always prohibitively expensive for hobbyists anyway - so even if you could buy new I'm not sure it's recommended! I still haven't sorted out coins for my MFME cab plan yet. But I'm going the single hopper route - it'll only pay out one denomination of coins. That's no good for older machines, which typically pay multiple denominations (say 20p, or 20p token, as well as £1). Or some seaside machines which might have a 10p hopper alongside a £1 hopper to pay smaller wins Hence why I assume people run dual hoppers
  4. I've been lucky with the existing artwork... it's only when I was bored one night and thought 'didn't I play some online versions with nice art?', and this project all spiralled from there. If there was decent art for Red Hot Roll I could certainly have a go. I do have the T7 version but not sure if I could rip the assets from it, or if they'd be any good. Also the fact that I'm more of an image 'manipulator' rather than an artist doesn't help
  5. Thanks to everyone for downloading and their feedback. I've hopefully got the £25 and £70 SESSION ROMs working correctly now - they are included as separate downloads as they use different lamp numbers (why?!!), and it's easier to just download working layouts than expect people to keep editing existing things to make them work Also, I didn't realise that non of the layouts had working shortcuts for TRANSFER buttons, I've gone back and added them back in so hopefully these are now in a better state. Apologies!

** UPDATE ** SESSION ROMS FOR £25 & £70 NOW WORKING AS INTENDED. NO WORKING £5 SESSION SET YET, BUT THE NON SESSION £5 ROMS REMAIN. Here's the latest in my lineup of Electrocoin based machines running Concept ROMs. Big 7 running Concept's 4 win (wood cabinet) ROMs. These differ from the casino cabinet ROMs in that they have lamping for the paytables and machine titles, which the casino ones lack. There's layouts for £5 (£1/£2/£4/£5 paytable), £25 (£3/£5/£10/£25 paytable) and £70 (£5/£10/£20/£70 paytable). What I've done here is include all the WOOD ROM variants for each machine... so you'll notice multiple '.GAM' files in each download, as well as multiple '.BIN' files (the ROMs themselves). The '.GAM' files will have the following letters at the end : FS (FLAT / SESSION) FNS (FLAT / NON SESSION) SS (FLAT / SESSION) SNS (SOFT / NON SESSION) The NON SESSION versions of the ROMs (with GAM files ending in SNS or FNS) are the ones that I think people associate with Concept being totally, mind bendingly brutal - they are the versions that can end up way, way behind percentage - and then go utterly batshit crazy. Probably best left to the sadists or people out of curiosity. That's not to say the SESSION ROMs can't also be brutal mind, just typically over a shorter term. Don't forget these are lo-techs - and very simple ones at that. They pay what they want, when they want. If you find the amount of GAM files too confusing, just delete the ones you aren't interested in ----------------- Reel gradients and masks : The reel gradients used in these layouts by default are the 'sunken' ones I seem to default to - I like them as they remove the jagged edges where the reel windows are cut out for transparency. However, @Ginge sent a couple of alternative graphics over, which some people may prefer. They simulate a more top-lit (fluorescent tube effect) to the reels, and also some reel masks which are for those who want full on, nicotine stained / aged reels! The graphics are included with each layout - you need to enter edit mode, open reel properties for each reel, load the gradients and/or masks, and if running the lamps, you need to add lamp values. For lamping based on the SUPER lamps that would normally be above the reels on the wooden cabinets, use numbers 76 (left reel), 75 (middle reel) and 74 (right reel). I've included a YouTube video if you want to see a quick tutorial on how to do it, taken from a shaky camera phone with wonky autofocus! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmNPb3TyJB4 Hope you enjoy, and thanks go to @Wizard for MFME, @Ginge for testing the base layout, suggestions and reel gradients and masks, @Road Hog Mad for the wonderful artwork he posted on the forum,@Reg for the site, the ROM providers who I don't know if want to be named or remain anonymous, and everyone else here for being awesome
  7. I've just uploaded a couple of photos of the Reflex Each Way Nudger... typical that I posted them and then came across this thread!
  8. I've never used a frontend for MFME, so I'll ask a (probably stupid) question Is this for people running cabinets - if so does it support portrait mode as that is what my current plans involved... or is it aimed at those of us running Windows and looking for a pretty way to load layouts? Also, I tried going to the website linked in your forum sig but I couldn't get it to work -

Right then, these should be ready for a bit of weekend play. Few things to note though : 1) You'll probably notice that random lights flicker every spin - that seems to be a ROM / emulator issue. I'm quite used to it and don't mind it, but it's a side effect of using these 'Wood' ROMs. 2) Speaking of which, I had no idea the £8 set was TOKEN payout until a few minutes ago. I could have sworn when I tested these layouts they were all cash - but alas not that one. I can't find a token entry via the button matrix, and pretty much have left it as a curiosity to make up the trio. It plays fine, I just play with £1 coin entry (keyboard button 0) and forget it's tokens apart from the fact it takes a while to pay out. 3) The Casino cabinet ROMs should run with fewer issues and WAY more paytable / price of play options. BUT they also have bugger all lighting. Since I had the Super Bar X art here I decided to go with the ROMs that utilise the extra lamps. On a casino cab I'm pretty sure the only lamps on Bar X are nudges and buttons. That's it. 4) The layouts are all released as RAM RESET, therefore they might take a while to start playing well - nature of the beast really. Seemed a bit silly me buzzing up some lo-techs before release. They will get to percentage fine, they might start off slow and then go on a run to catch up. Obviously these are Concept Games ROMs - they have extra features that normal Bar X ROMs don't. They can whistle / extra nudge being the most obvious one. Many thanks to @Ginge for playtesting the £70 version I had, and pointing out a few things. Also for helping me work out hopper motors earlier in the layout development. Thanks again to the ROM providers who provided these goodies for me to play with! Hopefully these versions are totally issue free (apart from the effing Token ROM debacle) but any problems let me know and I'll sort them. Notes supplied with layouts are attached below, they also load with better formatting when you open the layouts. Ta
  10. They pay exactly to percentage in the long term, but in a different way to Electrocoin. You'll probably find they go on a decent run at some point to catch up, but might take a few credits to do it! Cheers
  11. There's so many ROM versions and whatnot. I have one of these locally and it's not a bad game but does go through spells of £50 or so without a win. Then again it's to be expected really with a lower stake - prize ratio, and even a normal Electrocoin can go on a massive munch. Much better to play at home. I did wonder if the £1 play might be a better stake, but I was worried than halving the amount of dead spins, it might just save up for an even bigger run. I think there was a 50p/£35 ROM which again - could improve gameplay on the £35 version... or just make for a bigger run. Part of the fun of having 100s of ROMs I guess!!

Well here's a few lo-techs for people to play with. As per the WIP thread, I've got more artwork to play about with and will probably release a trio of Bar X (Concept) layouts soon. These will tide me over for now though! Hopefully they are all running correctly. If not please do let me know. It would be typical of me to make mistakes on the simplest of machines Massive thanks to the original ROM providers. Not sure if they want to be named but they were both amazing and as divisive as these are, they are just what I need to keep me out of the arcades. I really only play lo-techs these days, and these will be perfect running in my cabinet when I get off my arse and finish it! Layouts have only been tested by myself, I passed a few copies about but people were busy. I've only tested them on the gaming rig that I built just before Christmas, so hopefully they run fine for other people. No blended lamps but 4K resolution, large reels and large lamps might make them chug. Anyway, thanks for reading, and hope you enjoy!
  13. Ah, that's weird. Machines were almost always released with £5 options. Not sure why they didn't do one for it, but then again it wasn't a good game anyway. Normally happens when stored in a conservatory or similar with direct sunlight on it for long periods of time. Also happens to most of the later Barcrest Horizon cabinet releases due to some amazing self-destructing artwork technique they came up with.
  14. Not sure if it's already been mentioned, but fancied trying something else tonight - Random Reel Magic by Concept, also on the £70 jackpot at 50p play. Lovely DX by @dad in the Legacy area. It'll alarm and require a reset on first boot due to no RAM, so it plays from a reset. Different style of game - standard 3 win plan similar to Bar X 7even, but with a wild on the middle reel. Follows the 'no losing holds or nudges' formula used by most (if not all) of the Electrocoin '7s' games, unlike Random Gold which has 4 wins, no 'wild', and plenty of losing holds or nudges. Anyway - from a reset it's playing a nice game. I've just stuck £250 in and come away with £225, and that was with me refusing wins and a few other random things. Amazing that there's such a difference between the machines when both are played from a reset. This one is at bang on 90% now. Not sure what the machine is set to, but most Concept Random titles seem to be hardcoded at 90%, normally included in the artwork printed on the glass and so can't be varied.
  15. There's quite a few occasions of machine sounds appearing in different machines, by different manufacturers - presumably they were taken from a library of stock sounds. A bit off topic, but I often get a jolt when I noticed old sound effects from games, films e.t.c. being used in adverts, TV shows, e.t.c. It's like the sounds are buried deep in my brain and hearing them reawakens something I've heard the Doom door-opening sound effect used in an advert recently, and a Wilhelm scream used in an advert in the past few weeks.
  16. It's pretty obvious really, as with most machines on a run. So if it's not in the mood, you'll probably find you are putting in £20 for a maximum £5/£10 back. Rinse and repeat. When it's on a run, it's the opposite. You'll be collecting £5 from the bank, putting it back in, and getting a £5 or more return from it. Then you'll find the wins are holding, it'll be whistling (giving extra nudges and flashing the win available from the extra nudges in the 7 seg displays), and generally very happy. Of course getting a few more wins is no guarantee it's on a 'proper' roll, you'll only know that if you persist - and if it's not a proper roll, it'll soon die again. The run in my video started as usual, me putting in a tenner or so. That tenner ended up with a £20>£30 bank from what I recall, and one of the wins was a whistle for £20 xXx. So I thought I'd carry on. Very quickly the bank was up to £95, still from that initial tenner in (albeit I would have collected a little bit from the bank since it doesn't have a transfer option on the one I play). A basic explanation of the run will be that it'll be more generous, give more frequent holds after nudges (let 'em spins), and then normally throw in a jackpot, and this often holds. If the jackpot doesn't hold I'd definitely carry on with at least another £10 in as it'll often still be happy enough to give other wins, and the jackpot will probably come back. Walk when you feel that there is no more life in it. Say £10 without a win. I seem to recall the jackpot in this clip, from a hold after nudge, didn't hold - but it came back shortly after, and then a £10 XXX win that held twice for another £30, a few other bits. The total will have been about £250 profit. Last tenner or so I played through did bugger all, so I walked. As for T7s - they can be just as brutal. I own 2, and a bunch of other digital slots. The Betcom T7 and Vegas Strip can also be very brutal, but the Vegas Strip often does a triple jackpot (so £300 win), and the Betcom did a £100 + £300 top for £400 out on the Electrocoin OXO Reels game shortly after I got it. One thing I love with Concepts and other volatile slots - things like Ultra Hot - is I've genuinely lost count of how many quick hits I've had. Concept Magic 10 near me recently, £2 in, 3rd press was a hold for 7s for £100. Didn't hold, moved on. Loads of times I've put in a couple of quid and had a quick BAR win for £30, sometimes it's held.. Ultra Hot? I've forgotten how many times I've had a first or second press for a full screen for £80. But - get involved with them and that's when things can get dangerous. The softer profile £100 jackpots can be bad at the wrong time - they typically save up for a £200 (jackpot + hold) and then normally say £30 before and £60 after. You should still get wins even in a bad mood, but might be looking a £30 in for £10 back to give you an idea. But some 3rd party software kits are absolutely lethal and if you want a softer game I'd steer well clear. I learned my lesson on that last month. Put an absolutely stupid amount into a £1 / £100 by a company I wasn't aware of. I assumed it would be the same, or a similar profile to what I was used to. Turns out it's not, and it's a ROM designed for the B3 player - it saves up for an insane run. Put simply, I walked at £700 down, knowing it could have cost me another £700 to get that back. A hard decision to make, but ultimately a lesson learned.
  17. I found that TARG setting when I was playing with the existing Bar X 7even layout earlier which is running Concept £10/£15/£25 software. It's weird classing a hopper limit as 'target'. Does make me wonder if it might relate to streak potential... but at the same time I'm not sure
  18. There's a chap I've bought machines from in the past - he had one which I believe was from a reset and it played terribly for the first £1250 or so, before it started waking up, and even then he didn't get a good roll. Probably a sales tactic from Concept - 'We guarantee that the machine will pay for itself over the first few thousand credits'* His YouTube channel is Slots of Fun. In seriousness the one near me plays a good game - doesn't seem to get much play so I give it a week since I've last rolled it and try a ten or maybe twenty see if it's waking up. If not I leave it and try a week later. Either they take a VERY long time to settle down, or the one near me is a different ROM profile or revision. I'm not sure if Random Gold has different profiles - I know some Concept software is switchable between 'hard' and 'soft'. Maybe my local one is a soft profile. Definitely odd machines though, and apart from my local one I certainly wouldn't play one with more than a tenner. Not worth the risk of it having been RAM reset or similar. *Not a real quote obviously.
  19. I've had that on machines before... Might have been my Chuzzy Bar X? Whistled for X's but had enough extra nudges for the jackpot. Definitely have had it before but can't remember exactly where
  20. Had that today on Random Gold in the local, £10 in for £250 odd out. Only thing is they only float with £100... so had to refill it 3 times for me. With a mech that doesn't accept 2016 onwards £1 coins. Took bloody ages, but then I let them off, had a decent roll on the Bar X 7even and the Diamond 7 both times while waiting. Recorded it doing a let 'em spin on £70 and stopped recording before the first IOU. Didn't have a jackpot hold but had another jackpot shortly after and I'm pretty sure another one... If not it's my memory playing up. in any case it was a decent result. (Sod it, here's the shit clip I took. As per the title ignore the creepy gloves, I have to wear them due to coin allergies. https://youtube.com/shorts/5eCFisZ7gbI?feature=share ) It's a strictly no phone arcade and I don't want to piss them off! Random Gold is a brutal machine - so I play it like a lottery. Few quid here or there, hope it kicks off a streak, if not then walk. You can't get involved in chasing them. I mean I have, but it's never ended well, so it takes discipline to walk away, which I do now. There's a few indicators that it's warming up. I find the hardest thing is knowing when to walk when it's on a run!
  21. Afraid not, I'd love a Random Gold but haven't got one yet, and I feel the Double Up is a rarer version. No idea if the ROMs could just be plopped into a normal Electrocoin board or if you'd need a different security chip to go with it.
  22. I'm intrigued now! I had a chat with an ex-Concept programmer recently and (while a different machine) each stake had it's own sequence - the stakes were independent. So I doubt that'll make a difference but might be worth a shot! As @WonkySausage says above, might be worth uploading the RAM and GAM file (zipped up) so we can see what's going on
  23. They are a brutal game - I generally quite like them but don't like getting too involved. I'd rather get involved on standard Electrocoin, or a Concept 3 win plan game. Even if the machine is in a completely crap part of it's sequence, I'd still expect some wins - if it's like the normal Random Gold you'd still get the odd Cherry or standard XXX win every so often. I'll confess I've never played the Double Up but I'm sure it's the same. I'm sure there must be different profiles of Random Gold as the one near me - while brutal - isn't as bad as some horror stories I've heard. Are you certain it's not paid any wins? It could be the meters are knackered, or doing that thing some machines do where the meters only correct themselves when you exit and reload the layout?
  24. The machine RAM holds all the information that the machine would normally use in real life, so the machine will play as it should regardless of whether the meters in MFME are operating correctly. This RAM is saved out to a .RAM file when you close the emulator, and loaded back in when you open a layout. One RAM file per machine. Think of the machine RAM file as being a save state, a bit like a game save on a computer game. It stores money in, out, machine settings, and a bunch of other stuff. The meters in MFME - if set up correctly - give us a quick representation of the state the machine should be in, or our profit / loss per session, or long term... but they have no access to the machine software running within the layout. If they don't work it's normally either layout designer error, as the meters need to be set up, and also set to the correct values, for each layout. Possibly some machines uses some weird metering which isn't supported (unlikely).
