Hi,

Is there any way to set the emulator to ignore missing fonts rather than having to download the missing fonts?

Also is there any way to resize 1280 layout to 1024?

Apologies if they are stupid, lame questions.

V20 should resize the window to the max size your monitor can handle.

As for missing fonts, I tend to just click ok to skip past it. Most are still playable anyway

Open the emulator, at the top go to file, select preferences then set your preffs the same as this screen shot.

Sorry, forgot to say i'm on MFME 5.1 as all the latest versions have dropped Windows 7 support.  Yes you can ignore the font errors but it kind of gets annoying everytime especially on older layouts.

Firstly V6.1 is the last version you can use on Windows 7. https://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/files/category/71-legacy-releases/

On v5.1 and v6.1, if you go to the file, preferences screen, you'll see a shrink to fit option, tick that and it will resize to your screen size.

Also if you use V6.1, it will give you more machines available, as well, many available only in the Dxcellent section. You'll find them, attached at the bottom in the first posts on the release and re-release threads.

Any thread started before 2019, should contain a layout that works on v6.1 https://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/forum/26-dxcellent/

As for fonts, unless I'm missing something, on all versions it will check fonts.

It's useful to know what fonts are missing, if things aren't displaying correctly on layouts, but I do agree, it would have been a good option for it not to do that by default, particularly as sometime I have the font it says is missing, but I think there must be differences between fonts in Windows version.

Windows 7 isn't supported by Microsoft anymore. Highly recommend upgrading.

Windows 7 machines shouldn't be on the internet anymore as they are at risk of all sorts of nasties now with no more updates to patch security flaws.

I've been running XP machines for years.  Virus scanned and firewalled and not a hint of any dodgy stuff. Each to their own I guess.

I'm very skeptical about why it's banded around that Win 7 is riddled with security flaws? With every generation of OS they peddle the same crap. New isn't always better in my opinion.

The amount of Windows 10 updates rolled out over the last 2 years that have completely messed up PC's and made them inoperable.  I'm typing this on my Windows 10 machine and I can tell you that every Windows 10 update breaks more things than it fixes.

Re the previous points.  6.1 doesn't work correctly in 7 as i've found out.  gam files don't associate to it correctly so went back to 5.1.

Re fonts.  Is there a full font pack to download or can anyone recommend one that will cover most of the fonts (An AIO installer)

Re resizing.  Might be of help to other people? The small program below is great. Not tested on 10 but works perfectly on 7.

1.Associate gam files to 5.1.

2.Create a bat file pointing to the gam file.

3.Open the bat file with reso.

4.Choose the required resolution and save the shortcut (you might have to mess with the settings depending on your required res)

5.Click on the shortcut and hopefully it will load the layout and display to your requirements.

Not all layouts can be resized but a high percentage can.  

Probably only useful to me who's dicing with death on Windows 7 but someone might find it helpful.
