Fruity Nut
Please don't laugh! I'm thinking of using an old ION Icade cabinet (see pic) I would change the buttons for small fruit machine ones with the neccesary boards and use a small touchscreen monitor in portrait around 15". I'm not sure what ration suits mfme better 4:3 or 16:9? I would expect the screen to be slightly wider that the cabinet which will be fine and would have to cut the top and sides slightly. Can someone please advise? Thank you Edited December 10, 2023 by Fruity Nut
Amusements
I prefer 16:9 in portrait mode, because you can always add blank space to the top of layouts to make them fit snuggly to the bottom of a cab. 16:9 is also better for the taller layouts with belly glasses and top features. Treat every day like your last, because one day it will be! Fruit Machine <<<My new project!
slotsmagic
Interesting idea but doesn't really seem worth it. That cabinet is designed for a 9.7" original 2010 iPad from what I can see. So to get a 15" display in would require more than just a bit of cutting. You can get smaller touchscreens obviously. Don't forget you've got to also get a PC, capable of running MFME inside there, as well as iPac for buttons. As a novelty project I guess it would be an interesting challenge but if you wanted a compact cabinet you'd be better off building your own, or looking for a portrait mode bar-top. Fruity Nut
Thanks guys. Good to know your thoughts. I have just picked up a new Picade for £50 still boxed so thought I would use this as I already used one for a small mame cab in portrait using a 15" 4:3 monitor. Turned out really good actually. I will upload some pics of how it turned out. I had to take the monitor out of its casing and modify the cabinet slightly. Fruity Nut
I have decided 4:3 in portrait is by far the best for fruit machine emulation as the majority of games fit the screen perfectly without huge empty gaps top and bottom. Shame that 4:3 touchscreen monitors as low resolution.
