Where did you find out about this site ?

  1. Cracking graphics. Makes me wish for a 55" touchscreen...
  2. You really need two 5:4 aspect ratio screens. Or a big single 5:4 aspect ration in portrait mode. I've looked into it and it is frustrating as 4:3 and 5:4 are both fairly expensive if you want multitouch screen enabled. I was also looking for a wide and narrow touchscreen for a virtual touchscreen button area, just can't seem to find any sources. Possible Ali Express etc, but that could be a potential nightmare. I have a large 27" Acer screen T272HL. 1280x1920, running in portrait mode. It's about 300 pixels too tall, ideally I want 1280x1600. The easiest way to fudge it would be to have some artwork about the machine, maybe a cab logo. I don't want any physical buttons on my build. J
  3. So... doing some initial testing and portrait widescreen monitor are not the best fit for most fruit machines as the screen is too long, probably a 5:4 ratio would be better but touchscreen monitors at those specs are very expensive. There are ways I can overcome this problem. Some kind of artwork along the top of the screen etc. Full cab DX layouts will be fine. Ive reworked a layout I plan to release next year at some point. It’s looking stunning in screen tests. This touchscreen is epic, 27” goodness . I might even just mount it on a wall with some kind of shelf blow it and a casino chair. The quality of the artwork is very high and looks very realistic with the lamp work I’ve already done so far. The dimensions are a straight 1080/1920 portrait, not quite 4K but the screen size is immense and hoping it will be emmersive. No buttons just touchscreen controls. J
  4. Oooh, touchscreen ;).... The only trouble with touch screen buttons is that long term it's not a comfy way to play fruit machines. You kind of need two screen, the bottom monitor at a comfy angle like actual bottom, glass of a fruit machine. J
  5. CONVERSION - PART #1 01. Using a spare PC I found, I installed Windows 10 and setup to login automatically ( basically no password for the default user ). 02. The monitor for this turned out to be a 3M Touchscreen. The drivers were MT7.14.9.Win32-64.zip and these were downloaded from here... https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/touch-systems-us/resources/3m-touch-drivers-and-kernel-patches/ 03. The drivers were installed and the option to use HTD Mouse was picked. 04. Direct X9 Run Time was installed. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=8109 05. MFME was installed. 06. For a test, the DX from @Tommy c was used. This was edited before moving to the cabinet to drag the borders of the layout as close to the playfield as possible. 07. MFME was set to lauch the game in full screen, I think I picked full screen max. 08. Below is a video so far - this is very rough and ready - just testing the touchscreen actually worked. Ignore the flashing buttons they're still hooked up to the original PC. Off out now - but stage one - proof of concept that this actually is going to work - done.
  6. Fantastic, recently I bought myself a Microsoft Surface and have been using that to play some layouts on ther emulator, which got me to looking at costs of touch screens. Current thinking was look at a 24 inch touchscreen and build a second cabinet around that. Didn't even know they made these things, this stands my plan on its head. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. Pete
  7. @richy... all depends whether it’s a touch screen A full touchscreen would be great, you need to think it through as just s screen vertical is fine but with nothing to lean on it would get a little uncomfortable long term. I’ve always dreamt of a wall mounted touch screen with maybe a little ledge to rest the arms/hands. J
  8. I'll cut a long story short, I got a 40" touchscreen to play MFME, but for some reason the machines I have do not seem to not handle the portrait mode too well, and although graphics are fine - touch screen is well out (reversed/inverted/f*cked-up) So, in my trial and errors it turns out it works spot on (the monitor) on my chromebook - so my next thought, Linux..... So, has anyone emulated MFME *well* in Linux with a touchscreen? ... turns out it was'nt such a short story! You input is appreciated :)
  9. I had a touchscreen that used infra red beams in the corners, think yours does too. Mine was a pain as it was barely 2 point touch. I've used the one in the link below in portrait mode, definitely a great screen, the best touchscreen I've ever used, 10 point multi touch (capacitive). Only 1080p though. https://www.ebuyer.com/646730-acer-t272hlbmjjz-27-full-hd-va-led-touch-monitor-um-ht2ee-005?mkwid=s_dc&pcrid=51482416139&pkw=&pmt=&gclid=Cj0KCQjwibDXBRCyARIsAFHp4fqjJIhU-j_TMhRU76-piWTfOgTB0Oy5YqrOyDOkhg6PRdz4EcEFQpgaAoLxEALw_wcB J
  10. GPU drivers are as upto date as can be expected, screen rotation works - and whilst in landscape - life's good... Portrait.... thats the problem - I dont think its a GPU driver problem, but more of a touchscreen driver problem - but as it works fine under ChromeOS, I was hoping that route would be easiest - Maybe not! Cheers for coming back, I cant hep but think Ive missed something simple.... Monitor is this btw: http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/consumer/computer-peripherals/lfd-series/lcd-large-format-display/LH40CRPMBD/XY/
  11. You'll always get best results under windows - so no, can't answer about Linux. So one question I would ask, is the supporting drivers upto date for the video card on the PC - I assume yes ? If that's a yes - then is it one specific mode that does not work well - IE, is there a difference between how the touchscreen behaves between the modes of F1, F2 and F3 ?
