Hi Ginge Welcome to FME land. The issue with DVDs is that it is against the rules to distribute this way and also as new layouts are born, an official release would need to be updated often. I agree with Chopaholic that something needs to be done, as this has been going on for a long long time. Personally I have my own opinion of how I think this could be done and could work. I think it would also be a good idea to involve all members, not really a vote as such but as a team sharing solutions. Too many cooks don’t always spoil the broth

So basically in a nutshell they have apologised for stealing from here, selling it as there own and then saying they are going to continue to do so, with or without our backing! They know it’s wrong but they want to stop others from doing wrong, only if we allow them to continue to do the wrong thing! WTF BTW is wrong with some folk, no shame whatsoever!

Do you have a printer at home? If you do, then do you print your own money? What your saying, is just the same as saying to a community somewhere, let me sell drugs in the town and you will be the only one, because if we allow you to do it, then you would keep the others off the street. Although the people here and in the above scenarios are not being financially impacted like the way a musician would be with a copy dvd, it’s still theft. Calling a member of this community an idiot, because they have stood up for what is right, which is speaking out against folk like you thieving of off the work of others, then you have the cheek to say that you are willing to talk or negotiate here to get your own way. Whatever way you look at it, it’s theft, no more no less. You are making money off of the back of other peoples sweat and hard work, which is available freely to anyone who simply has to look for emulation, but to sink to the lowest of the low by selling Wizards software, is just plain wrong, surely you can see that? How can you justify what you are doing, as it’s shows you have no respect or compassion for others and only thinking of making a quick buck? You want to talk, cards on the table, how many have you sold?

Think I’ve seen DVDs sold on Amazon as well. Whichever way the seller tries to look at it or to justify their reason for doing it, they morally can’t as it’s basic theft, no excuse! The problem is the seller, they don’t care who’s sweat and time they rip off for a quick buck and that’s where the problem lies. In an attempt for the FME sites and designers to combat this, I kind of have an idea but don’t know if it would be easy enough to put the idea into practice.

Chris, Gone but never forgotten. You are one of the good guys, a guy that developed something phenomenal that allowed you to enjoy your hobby, and you shared it with us to allow us to enjoy our hobby too. A top bloke who devoted a lot of time, skill and effort over the years and never once asked anything in return from any of us. I used to be addicted to the machines years ago, and you have helped me overcome that. You have also brought back a lot of happy memories for me that I associate from past machines that, has only been possible because of you. You wanted to see us be happy with our hobby, and for that my friend, you truly are a diamond I don’t drink alcohol but I raise a drink to you Chris, rest in peace mate.

I’ve just read this today, and I’m honestly shocked to hear this. This is really really sad Wizard has helped everyone on here by creating not just one but several versions of his classic emulator time and time again, each one better than the last. He has helped keep all of our memories of our classic and favourite games alive. Its thanks to Wizard for this, and for allowing designers to be able to make history with publishing their layouts, and for the reason we are all on here today. Wizard has also helped a community of people to come together. I’ve used from v2 all the way up to the current version and I would like to say a big thank you for all the time, effort and commitment you have dedicated, into your software over the years, and for keeping guys like me away from the machines. All the best pal, and thanks again for everything you’ve done for us all.
