  1. So for a couple of quid I added a blue beacon to my home build, the lamp number for the beacon is number 11 off the actual 1-12 reel, and it is connected to the LED controller number 10.

As you can see it works when the POLICE lamp on the 1-12 reel lights up.

What other machines do we have with beacons? I used to own a cops and robbers fruit machine and I attached a beacon to somewhere on the motherboard, looking at the emulation I have of cops and robbers is the beacon or lamp emulated on that?

  2. Dunno if this has been covered before, but I thought of a thread us cabinet builders can list their annoyances that we have had or still have and maybe how we over come them.

A list of issues I had...

    1. Games refusing to work or payout,

    2. Coin mech giving x2 5 credits on certain games when £1 is inserted or not registering the credit at all unless you leave 5 seconds apart from inserting the £1. I'm not sure if it is an MFME issue, maybe some setting in that (the type of coin mech I have used is attached)

    3. Coin routing issues, seems where you want the coin mech or hopper isn't always right (them Azkoyen hoppers are a fare size, even though compact).

    4. The famous common ground problem, I actually nearly smashed mine up!

    5. The wife moaning.

Anything else you guys have experienced?

Thanks Road Hog Mad that seems to be working perfectly now. I'm guessing it's a case of trial and error with some of the layouts having different Hopper settings.

Next job is the coin mech wish me luck 🤞🤣

Yeah.. old machines are triac and newer hopper.

You'll be fine with the coin mech, but if you fancy a simpler option see my thread about my home build where I use an old style coin mech.

It's not an MFME dip setting.

If you have collected in the past and it hasn't paid out simply pressing 'r' on the keyboard should reset it (it'll probably spit previous coins out that haven't been paid out).

"However, collecting from the machine layout doesn't give any results."   In what way?

Thanks Road Hog Mad I'm gonna order a tower on ebay with similar specs.

Already have the 126 so will try and get that going first but will take a look at your build anyway as I'm still trying to get my head round the wiring schemes.

I have the Hopper wired as shown but can't seem to get any life out of it.  Ipac is set to [ and corresponding pacdrive connector to Hopper 1 but nothing from pressing test or when collecting from a machine.

Can anyone comment whether this set up would 20230309_144734.thumb.jpg.f978d383eae20c6b14fedc5695d543d4.jpgcause the common ground issue and is there a way around it whilst I wait for a tower?

    Common ground problem!

Earth your I-PAC 'GND' to the PSU 'GND' as well!

  7. @johnparker007 I have just downloaded it and give it a whirl, it is very impressive! I'm curious if it will work with a home build?

But that would probably have to include navigation from custom buttons and maybe a touch screen interface, and there's the hoppers etc. If a machine is setup to work with hoppers and a coin mech and then loaded in to the arcade simulator will it still work?

Not my intention to add my work to your current work load, I'm just keyboard thinking.

Just trying to get a few bits together for an eventual cabinet build. Gonna start with the basics and see if I can get it all working before I think about putting it all into a final cab.

I have had a play with setting up some basic arcade buttons.  Now I’m looking to take it to the next stage and get a coin mechanism, payout hopper, along with some proper fruit machine illuminated buttons.

From a quick research on a couple of existing threads I have put this list together. Any advice and input on choices would be much appreciated.

    Ipac

    Pacdrive

    Cashflow 126 Dfx coin mech

    Universal coin hopper mk4

Buttons, I’m thinking just order a set of used off eBay. Anything to look out for or avoid with these?

Not sure about wiring and connections yet to connect everything together?

Will also need some form of power supply for now as I am running from a laptop for the moment. Will purchase a second hand desktop in the near future. Any spec requirements with regards to processing/ram/gpu?

2GB graphics card will run MFME and 4K layouts fine. My setup with the a 2GB graphics card is 8GB ram, an i3 with 128GB SSD, it is not slow! Its probably over-specked.

Coin mechs, if you want something easier than a 126 cashflow see my cabinet build.

  9. My inspiration came from these style of machines (see pics)...

I suppose if you had an all in one PC you make one even more streamline.

The only big items taking up space are the coin acceptors and hoppers.

I opted for the type of coin acceptor on mine as they are simpler and a little smaller, they only intrude in to the cabinet by 4 inches max. You don't get the multiple coin acceptance capability but in reality you only play with £1's don't you? I don't go to the arcade and ask for £10 in a variety of coins. I installed the 20p hopper as I like the ability to play token machines (MPU4, MayGay, JPM 90's machines etc.)

Why have the coin acceptor on the top right as standard and have the pain of routing coins, why not make it more accessible and easier to install? Hence the way I did mine. You don't get the MARS ME126 coin acceptor effect when you insert a coin, click click click clunk but the emulator emulates this sound anyway. Also after putting around £400 through it, the coin acceptors I have have only rejected about 2 coins which beats a common coin acceptor by a long way.

Next job is the paint it! and I'll do a full lengthy video talking about it.
