  1. To keep the wife happy, I'm just doing a bit at a time, I'm conning her by incorporating in with other house DIY jobs lol. Today I have made a wooden bracket, this will hold the monitor in place on the front of the machine. Cost = £0.00 (wood, 2x2's left over from media wall I built and the wooden battens are from the packaging of a new tumble dryer we had delivered today). There is about 1/4" gap between the 2x2's and the top of the monitor (not flush in other words) that's because I'm going to have the screen slightly out of the front part by 1/4". So it's like a pronounced front, the play buttons will stick out 1/2" and the payout tray a lot further (unless someone has a slim line pay out tray, I'm thinking of using an old Bell Fruit Scorpion style one.
  2. Ohh No... I have certainly caught the Cab Build Virus (I Blame @Reg :D) In my previous builds I had an old Paragon Pro Quiz machine converted in to a home build and a bar top machine using an old laptop. The issue I had with the other 2 builds was space (and the wife constantly moaning), they were always in the way. Upon browsing eBay like I do periodically to see how much machines are selling for I saw an old none working wall mounted fruit machine, I think it was a German design, I thought that's an idea.. a wall mounted fruit machine in my den under the stairs. After grovelling to the wife for 30 minutes, rubbing her feet and cooking tea for 4 nights in a row I was granted permission to build a wall mountable fruit machine! I have posted a few pics of where I am up to, I have done a design and already have a 22" open frame touchscreen monitor (£80 off ebay with all the wires, not a bad price if you ask me), I have also ordered some I-PAC stuff from www.arcadeworlduk.com which I have used in the past. I also thought about trying a different mech (see pic) less wiring up, I'm going to have a 20p and £1 hopper as I had endless trouble using a 10p hopper (in fact I smashed the last one up in anger). The price was £5 less for each mech when I ordered, dunno why they have jumped in price!?!? Hoppers... I'm not that keen on using the Azkoyen Hoppers again as they're bulky (cost about £60 each) and the last one wasn't reliable at all, so if anyone has used different hoppers please let me know in here, I also need them to have overflow for when they're full (Azkoyen ones don't and I had to make my own which was a pain). The depth of the wall mounted machine I am aiming for 6 inches as I should be able to squeeze everything inside. Attached: Machine Build No. 2 (Bar Top Edition) Comments and Suggestions WELCOME!! Subscribe, smash the red button, smash the blue button or whatever it is.
  3. You can go through £20 on 2p pushers in an hour! I can anyway. Why would need 10p pushers or slots?
  4. @woodsy @chriss82 @No1Stoney The only issue I had and that just may lay with PC monitors is that they looked dreadful in portrait mode partly because they where TN monitors, in other words the viewing angle in portrait mode was crap and you had to move your head as it went darker in certain viewing angles. I've never tried a modern TV though, so don't know how they'll look. As @woodsy said charity shops, or even fleBay! (you may get a cheap one without a bracket/stand etc.).
  5. MFME is updated, it was just when I loaded astra celebration, the one from dads website did it
  6. Anyone know a fix for this?
  7. There wasn't an issue selling one like this before. Obviously the new owner will put what they want on it.
  8. Sounds silly @davep180 but have you pressed 'r' on the keyboard when the said game is loaded to reset it?
  9. @Altharic @eagle64 Relisted... Home Made Fruit Machine (MFME) 100's of games!! | eBay @eagle64 The games aren't for sale the machine is. For the purpose of the auction the games and emulator have been removed, I have sold one before. @Altharic Yeah! Got a licence number now
  10. Yep, I'm selling my home build and looking to build another, I thought a smaller one would be better but I think I'll prefer a bigger one made from an actual fruit machine cabinet. Anyway, it's here if anyone is interested... Home Made Fruit Machine (MFME) 100's of games!!! | eBay
The invicible board is when all the hi Los light up
  11. @MPU_FIVE If you can suss the buttons you can suss the payouts. The coin mech is like a big button push, insert £1 and 0 is represented, 50p a 9 etc. Just follow the wire diagrams!!
  12. I've caught the build virus @Reg, so I was thinking I wanted to build another one. But in a 3/4 cab, the type of cab the Fair Games bar 7's are in (attached pic), this size will fit under my stairs. Open to suggestions for another cab style of around this height (about 5FT 5"). After seeing @No1Stoney cab build in an old mpu5 cabinet, I like the idea of two screens. Has anyone had the emulator running in two screen mode? one screen in landscape at the bottom and the top screen in portrait. I'm thinking the bottom screen could be like the interaction point or something or for playing pac-man on for example. So first thing would be a cab, as these machines aren't that popular I'd probably need a different cab, again.. suggestions here are welcome. I'm thinking an old £30 i3 off eBay will handle the computer side, I can always double up on RAM and install an SSD along with a DUEL graphics card, X2 VGA, 512MB would probably be enough, I do recall playing an emulation once, Viz I think and it was using 20% of a 2GB card so 512MB would probably be fine. A decent monitor for portrait mode, not a TN monitor as they go dark if you change your viewing angle. Taliban Express sell touch screen addons for around £7, not that i've ever tried them but this would just be for selecting BIG icons to load a game so wouldn't have to be that accurate. Any suggestions apart from 'don't tell the wife?'
  13. Good idea how the game selector could be at the bottom. @Monk3yboy1985 Stop now or i'll be buying empty fruit machine cabinets lol
  14. If I had the room I would make one like that @No1Stoney, it really does look brill!! The hopper I use for 10p's still keeps paying out too much, I asked the seller (e-service) to send me a new sensor as a bit of investigation turned out it was faulty, they did, it improved it but it's not perfect (It was one they had lying around apparently). Anyway bit the bullet and ordered a new one off eBay for a couple of quid but will have to heat shrink it to the existing wires/terminals. Anyone else had problems with 10p payouts?
  15. That's pretty cool, loads of room inside for hoppers, a PC etc. I wonder what games you can play duel screen?
  16. It seems one 10p payout game screwed all the others up, trying another game and a reboot later it works fine. ThAnk god! So we now know for sure if you make a laptop build and are using the original power supply and powering the hoppers off a separate supply, connecting the winipac ground to the seperate power supply earth common grounds it all. Thank you to all that helped me!
  17. Update, connected ground on ipac to separate PSU that creates common ground, hoppers work but.. 10p hopper pays out continuosly. Any ideas? @No1Stoney @Reg
  18. I thought I had already done this in the pictures above?
  19. Must be software related, hopper powered up as confirmed with a bulb, wire connected to 16 and other wire connected to winipac ith a [
  20. Getting power... connected right,I don't get it
  21. If I do a bulb test between the the psu live and laptop earth no bulb lights up. Bear in mind the laptop powers the laptop and the psu powers the coin mech and hoppers. The coin mech still works.
