  1. I mean is there a way to re-position items. Like some sort of editor? Is there an .ini file or some kind of script for the layout? I wanted to look at designing a really slick theme for my cab at some point. I could possibly create some assets if you wanted to delve into that side of things with your launcher? J
  2. Where are you based? J
  3. Is it possible to customise the whole look of the theme? Thanks for this, excellent, been screaming out for a full touchscreen interface solution J
  4. Later techs will suffer the most I imagine. Scorp 5 and large format layouts with scaling. Shame to spend all the time building a nice cab and then fitting it with an underpowered pc. You could check out ebay for a montherboard/cpu bundle. Some slightly newer tech way more powerful than you have at extremely reasonable prices. I got a 3rd gen i5 2500k with motherboard and 8gb ram for £45. It works perfect in my cab, it runs all emulators I use including Dreamcast. J
  5. Extremely doubtful with the spec of the PC. Wonder if we could have a minimum spec sticky in the new members area? MFME recommended system specs. J
  6. Think v6 supports Win7, but any later version is Win10 only, so any layouts released after v6 you will not be able to play. You will most probably experience speed issues running mfme with that machine. It has a fairly weak CPU, a Pentium 4, it also only has 512mb ram. Be interesting to know how it does perform but I would expect it to be a little underpowered. J J
  7. Will it run Win10? Can you post a pic of the computer you are going to be using. Can’t understand why you can’t mount it portrait, it would be so much better. Your going to have very small machines in landscape mode. What size is the screen 19”? J
  8. I personally would rather plug a machine as, back then at least, I don't think it was illegal to do this. It wasn't a discrete operation and you would get barred from a pub for doing it, but it's unlikely the police would be involved. Clicking was far more discrete but it carried a higher risk if caught. Potential physical harm or police involvement. I will say though that there were plenty of crooked bar staff and landlords. I would determine the risks before I got involved, I didn't want my pretty face to get smashed in J

I have no experience with foreign machines. They are just totally different. Don’t think you have gamble options etc. Never played it, I just prefer UK based machines personally. J
  10. Or just click it exclusively on jackpots then check actual percentage after 20 mins. Be nice to see the figures for any non jackpot wins. I believe they will directly affect the percentage. Taking lower wins amongst jackpots might skew the results as the machine will gain value as jackpot wins are 100% unaccounted for. An extra thought is that it might be something as simple as the following. Once the machine is jackpot happy a flag is set to 1. As soon as you take the jackpot this flag is cleared. As you play on the jackpot flag eventually flicks to 1 again and so on. During the jackpot sequence the machine is reset before this flag has been cleared thus keeping the machine happy. This also explains why the feature will come back in a few spins when resetting the machine during the jackpot sequence. Both the jackpot and feature entry flags are not cleared if the machine is reset before the jackpot sequence ends. You can simply reset the machine at the start of the feature or just before it kills you and the feature will come back in a few spins. Collecting and plugging any win other than the jackpot will clear the feature board flag. Sorry for the waffle by the way. J
  11. There’s not always any logic when it comes to this kind of thing, but I’ve always understood that there is an issue with the jackpot sequence or the way the jackpot win is accounted for. I don’t believe it has anything to do with token wins at all personally. I bet you could find an IOM all cash jackpot machine and find that it’s an issue with the jackpot sequence. Even though the £10 all cash version of Pink Panther is a hack, it kind of proves my thoughts. Regarding resetting the machine when streaking. If you just plug exclusively on jackpots the streak gets stuck in an extended loop. It’s either never ending or insanely extended, depends how the machine sees a jackpot sequence whilst in streak mode. If you really want to prove if non jackpot wins are registered you’d need to check machine actual percentage every time you take a win and plug machine. You do this by entering test mode and checking the percentage information. That’s the only way to prove it 100% accurately. The info you seek is in the logs. Not sure how to access them now, it’s been a long time but you enter test mode by opening the door and then scroll through the various tests using the machine buttons. Be great to see all this data logged. J
  12. Pretty sure the button panels have been covered on here. Plenty of people have made them with the iPac in mind. J
  13. Actually I did find a RollerCoaster in mfme that would drop in the jackpot. This was years ago so I don’t have any of that stuff any longer.’l J
  14. JPM Fireball SYS5, don’t think plugging works, doesn’t work on all Sys5 games. Generally you will find that machine with clones will inherit any issues. A new game will have a new base code. Look at all those pluggable JPMs, most are clones. We used to plug Indiana Jones and RollerCoaster and any JPM that would drop in the Jackpot when the machine needs to level percentage. I’ve tried loads of roms and yet to find a JPM Impact machine that will do this, even some of the Sys5 machine you could plug like Popeye (Non super), again they don’t drop in the jackpot if you sack the wins off. J
  15. It’s not that juicy but it’s an interesting quirk that affected a lot of earlier software in those cabs. J

    End of the 8-bit Era

It's not actually obsolete in certain circles, people are still writing games for it in 2020. The spectrum demo scene is still very active as well, some amazing demos by some seriously talented coders. J
  17. I don’t have the 777 Heaven £6 roms here, you could request them, I’m sure some will upload them for you. J
  18. I think we have a £6 token set for 777 Heaven. That method they told you sounds like a load of BS, but who knows. What happens when it drops a win in, 777 Heaven would often give a ‘simple’ fast start for a win. Anyway, I do think we will have some roms for the standard 777 Heaven version. J
  19. It’s not really a story but I found the info extremely interesting personally. J
  20. There is a nice little story for a vid regarding the final 06 versions on £6 Ace Coins. Need to research and make sure it’s correct in the emu, but I will post some findings J
  21. If it's not just a 'normal' plugging method. I only really like the interesting ones that make the machine do extra strange things ...I will watch it if you upload it though, but I'm not going to dare you... J
  22. I suspect someone somewhere was doing them. I can't remember seeing them get done, I wonder if it effects the BFM's that has a Skill Cash feature, it would get slower and slower J
  23. I don’t think I did mate, depends what area you are in. We met a lot of people when travelling around. You just swapped little bits, this was pre internet days . I just like talking about this stuff, always fascinates me and still gives me that buzz. I couldn’t imagine playing machines for fun without having any kind of edge, back in the day at least. Loads of stuff we never knew, but because we travelled a lot you always could spot players back then, or people up to no good. Lol. I always remember going into an arcade in Great Yarmouth, a floor walker approached us straight away and asked us where we were from. He said you can play here but we don’t stand for any messing about... We had a little walk round and spotted 2 Cloud 999’s and a Blue Moon all CL’ing . Literally everything was on it’s arse J
