Virtual fruit machine with real buttons?

Hi All

Very new member here, I have not searched everywhere here yet but is there such a thing as using a screen/monitor for the virtual fruit but have it tied to real buttons on a frame?  I searched on youtube but maybe I am not searching correctly?

I started down this rabbit hole as I live in Florida and was considering shipping a OXO fruit and a Only Fools machine if I ever found one but then came across this forum.

Thank you

So you mean playing the fruit machines but with real button panels?

That's very easy. It only gets more complicated if you start wanting payout mechanisms fitted :)

Have a look in the Cabinet Building forum here, it's here :

If you just want buttons that you can play with, you really just need a PC, monitor and a set of buttons, with a keyboard encoder (such as iPAC) to run them. If you want the buttons to light up, you'll also want something like a PACdrive to handle powering the LED lamps and coordinating their behaviour in MFME :)

Hi,

Also new, but totally possible in so many ways.

I've just set up a cardboard box stuffed with real machine buttons, hooked up to a Pico2040 for control and a pacdrive with relays for 12v LEDs.

There's a forum section here I'm sure someone more experienced will point to, but the easy answer is you have lots of options that can be really cheap and can be done off the shelf. Any input controller can be made to work with any button you can get your hands on.

I did a very similar thing when I was getting into virtual pinball cabinets, a sturdy cardboard box with buttons installed is a great way to start these virtual cabinet projects :)  It's the emulation hardware equivalent of measure twice, cut once - good luck with your project :)

If it works it works 😂

Once the lights are off, the monitor is in portrait, I can barely see the Shark steam mop box. It's all the vibe you really need.

Having said that, I plan to go a bit more crazy than that eventually.

My personal advice to anyone wanting to build a panel, is just concept it out with something that works and is cheap. If you want more, you've already got some of what you need and none of what you don't. Having a controller of any kind enhances the experience IMO.

Exactly mate!  My whitewood virtual pinball setup was 2x TVs (42" and 32") and a monitor on an extending dining table - I had some kind of very sturdy post office cardboard box underneath it (the playfield 42" TV) with some leaf switches and a plunger, all screwed into the thick box - once you were playing and in the zone, you didn't even notice the cardboard framing - it is always the way to prototype first :)

Stu,

If you want more information/discussion on what you want to accomplish, give me a shout and I'll be glad to help. I assume start small?
