Sold to me, currently keeping my half-converted Interplay happy ;)

Amazing how much of an extra dimension having coins in/out makes, and the front-end that's on it is bonkers. It's quite scary seeing your profit/loss on a decent large display at the bottom 😮

As an example of what can be done it's brilliant. Top man too, very helpful.

Back to losing my shirt in Monopoly Wheel of Wealth now :D

Glad its working well for you mate.

Hmm.  This is sad to see.

I know I spend my spare time working on the YT channel, but I was always in awe at what you had built here.

As @Road Hog Mad has said, you may regret this.

I'd pause for a couple of months and if you still feel the same way then obviously go for it.

Your cab ( like everyone else's ) is one of a kind and yours is pretty damn unique in a very good way.

Thanks @Reg You're probably right, I will probably regret it. But I have kept another of my cabs with the same functionality which is far more portable and takes up a lot less space. As for giving it plenty of thought, I have, for a good few months. Even though I've not gambled in many years, it destroyed my life when I was in my teens/20s and I find myself wondering why I still surround myself in the things that did that to me and have for the past year, sold off all of my fruit machines and related bits and pieces. Also a couple of years ago I found a new hobby (in retro video game collecting) which I now invest a lot of my time in.

I'm also really happy where it has gone to and know it will be looked after and enjoyed.

You'll regret selling it, you'll end up building another, if you're short of money try to stick it out (or bet it all on black on 888.com lol). Short of space, build a wall mounted one like mine.

I have 2, this is the larger (albeit more functional and more like a real fruity) and im keeping the other for now.

Surprised I hasn't seen this post before. Very fair price for a fully working MFME cabinet. I'm tempted myself as I'm too lazy to finish building my Interplay.

Hopefully someone beats me to it!

(edit) Where you have put it requires two people - is that due to it needing to be moved downstairs for example? If not I'm sure I could move it by myself with a sack truck :)

Thanks everyone. I am very proud of it i must say.

I only said it needs 2 people as its the size of a normal fruity (perhaps a tiny bit heavier?) But yes a sack barrow would be fine to move it. Also I'll be here this end to help. So no need for 2 people to turn up

The price is fair. Cost me about £400 to build mine. As a pioneer of these machines, you should get what you want for it. Thanks too, for all your input in cabinet building. Without you, I wouldn’t have mine.

Thankyou mate. I still have another to hang on to for now but I just have no room for this one now.

  6. Hi everyone,

I've come to the decision to put one of my home made MFME cabs up for sale. Sadly, I don't have the time to play on it like I used to as fruit machines are not really a big hobby of mine these days and need to make room for other projects.

It is the same size as a standard fruit machine and was made from a donor Barcrest Genesis cab. It is on castors but will requires 2 people to move.

The machine takes all coins, and pays out from a £1 hopper. All other coins go into the original coin tray at the bottom of the machine. Easily accessed from the front.

It runs on a slim PC inside the cab, and has 2 Pacdrives, 1 iPac and 1 keyboard encoder to control the lamps and buttons. There are 3 screens.

It currently has well over 150 games installed but if there's any issues surrounding me including MFME and ROMs pre-installed then I will remove these before selling, and let he buyer know how to put their own games on.

It's pretty maintenance free. Press the button on the PC inside the main door and windows loads up, and my custom front-end loads automatically. Then the machine can be completely controlled using the buttons on the machine. Select a machine using the buttons, and then click the play button. MFME loads up, wait for the machine to boot, and you are ready to play with coins. Click Exit when finished and you are ready to choose another game. I will include a wireless mouse and keyboard with the machine. To play a game without coins, you can use the keyboard to insert coins instead. When you have finished playing, press the PC power button again and windows will shut down on its own.

Each machine displays a running total of your IN and OUT amounts when playing so you can keep track, and shows you much more information on the bottom screen such as the button mapping for the machine you are playing. It also shows a running total of your IN/OUT amounts for your entire session across multiple machines.

I have put a lot of work into this machine and getting it working mostly fault free. It's been sprayed black inside and out and has a caron fibre style wrap around the button panel. I am looking for £350 for this, which I think is a very fair price as all the parts & materials alone cost me more than this. This will be collection ONLY from LN4 area.

Here is a video I made showing how it all works:

If anyone is interested, either reply here or PM me. At this moment, the price is firm as I am in no particular rush, and would like it to go to a good home.

  7. I have one of these phones wired into my fruit machine cab. The dial turns when dond is active on dond games. In its original form the dial spins and the phone shakes on top. Also has lights around the dial.

Here is a photo I found when I was modifying it. Hopefully someone can work out where the plugs would go on the scorp 4 from the pic.

Great cab that's what I want to do use a real machine but I would use 2 touchscreen and most of the front unit for a dual setup. And use real buttons. But I can only dream lol as don't have the space or the cash

    Great work @No1Stoney

This is why I stuck to non-touchscreen. I needed to keep the costs down 😅

The ultimate cab!! Well done old pal. You've done sterling work. I can only imagine the contorted shapes you must have pulled wiring that thing up. Amazing work!

Cab building has just evolved to the next level.

    Really impressed :):):)

Thankyou so much!. Long time no speak. Yes it was awkward at times but working in a front opening cab was far better than working with my old one. Can't wait to see your new cab 😉😉

  9. MFME works and looks great with a monitor in portrait mode. Just set your desktop settings to portrait mode and fire up MFME. Then put mfme in full screen mode. Nothing else to it. As for having another monitor in landscape thats fine too just goto desktop properties and arrange the monitors how they are on your desk.

  10. Most freshly downloaded 3 players should load up everything automatically, just open the topbox first.

If it doesn't, load all the slaves and topbox individually and move all the windows around until they are in the right position (press ESC on a window if the window is borderless to be able to move it around and resize, and F1 to revert once in place) now make click onto the topbox and press ALT+L to link everything together.

Now they should all work as intended and when you close any window it will close them all. Also when you now reopen the topbox, everything else should load in how you left them last time

Unsure, thinking of doing two versions, one with him as (hidden features are hidden) and one with the best attempt at artistic redraw

Take your time. Have a go at redraw. For the reasons in the OP, this deserves some time putting into it to get it as good as it can be. You're not going to be it 100% without extra sourxe images and I'm no expert in this area but maybe remove the area with the guy and maybe use some of the cobbled bricks from the flyer @dad posted and add those to that area, and then overlay a red magic carpet image as close to the proper one. Then its just a case of adding text as close to the original art. Not easy but there's no rush.

  12. Is the blokes head part of the cab or is that something added from a flyer ? Looks like something is supposed to be behind him? Hopefully there's other images to use for reference so he can be edited out. Good luck @woodsy I'm sure you will do it justice

  13. I have the game selector on the bottom screen. Thats what those buttons are for at the side of that monitor. They are used for scrolling through the menu. Top screen shows a video of the machine in attract mode before clicking to play, then the top screen is for the actual machine in play.

As for 10p hopper, I never have a problem with mine, it always paid what it was supposed to. Definitely check the sensor.

Your cab looks amazing No1 !! Really impressed with it! Plus, I love the idea of sharing RAM files with your mate for that real-life experience 🙂

On the subject of your 'smaller' screen - have you considered running it on a Raspberry Pi or something along those lines to keep it separate from the main PC if all it's doing is a music controller? Or a cheap small form factor PC?

Alternatively (and I've no idea if this would work) I know there are programs that let you have more control over multiple monitors - if memory serves there was one called multimon? I'm not sure if this would help with the 'losing focus' issue or not - I've never gone that in-depth with them but just ideas I had as I read your thread.

Keep up the brilliant build mate 🙂

Hi mate long time no speak. Thanks for the feedback. Updates will be slow for now as I'm on holiday for 2 weeks from this weekend and haven't got time to work on it even though I'm itching to. I'm still unsure of the exact implementation of the small top screen. I've got a few idea in mind. As for the focus issue I'm hoping I code a quick app that will return focus to the main front end or mfme after say 500ms of no touch on that screen. If that fails I'll look into a downloadable app for it. Thanks for your suggestion.

@Road Hog Mad you would think there's loads of space but in reality not so much as I want to use the original payout tray and coin mech entry which restricts things to the far right of the cab. the other constraint is the bottom monitor as its recessed into the cab and that takes away another 2 inches or so of space at the front. I have a few suggestions on how to route my coins but if all else fails I'll reduce to 1 hopper instead of 2 to increase the space I have to play with.

  15. The plan is to use the bottom screen as a sort of information screen for the machine being played which will include money in/out & percentage for the current session. And a graphic showing what the buttons do in relation to each machine.

Also something I did think about, but not convinced it will look right, is use the bottom screen as the topbox for some 3 player machines.

This is very much still developing as I go so I am not exactly sure how it will all look in the end.

    ...thank you for posting !

Reference the above - I bet at some point, you build one like your current cab for your friend.

I am rather looking forward to see the end result of the next one.

Me too! Going on holiday soon so progress will be halted for 2 weeks.

Oh and here is a pic of my first cab before I changed it slightly. notice its taller, no buttons above the monitor, and the rejected coins came out of the shoot on the right. This was terrible as coins just flew out across the room.

Would you be able to post pics of your original to this thread please as well ( if you don't mind ). :)

I've put some pics up now @Reg.

Wired up all my buttons and lamps today so that's all working great.

Tomorrow I'll work on the mech, then the next job will be to get hoppers working, which is going to be very tricky due to limited space and other constraints. There's a small chance I'll have to make it a 1 hopper cab (£1s only) but we will see. Then once its all together, I'll get the software side of things up and running properly.

  18. As requested by @Reg, here is my first cab build (well kind of a v1.1 as it actually started taller and less refined and I modified it slightly to get it to what you see here.)

This cab pays out in 10ps and £1 coins and takes all coins. It was also the smallest I could get it as the coin mech takes up a lot of room. I still have this cab, but a friend of mine is buying it from me so we can play games with shared RAM files (As I built a new one:

HOWEVER i must ask you to please help me first one last time... PLEASE swap the cancel and collect buttons around hahaha

Haha yes noted and actioned. 😆 that was because I was so eager to get the machine back together and wanted to see how it looked after painting, I forgot the original order of buttons. The button decals will be changed anyway at some point

This is going to be a very unique machine, I have to ask and sorry if I missed, the top panel on the left hand side are you doing something like I did with prize ?

Well I'm still not 100% sure on its implementation yet. Its a touch screen so originally I was thinking something like a controller for music, maybe linked to Spotify or something where I can choose a playlist tap for next/previous etc. If that doesn't work out or can't find a suitable add-on that works well then it will be another screen that shows some kind of info for the current machine such as jackpot amount like you mentioned. One issue I came across but didn't think about originally is tapping that screen takes focus away from MFME so I need to figure a way around that 🤔.

  21. Quick update. Painted the cab outside today and then put the panels back inside. A quick wire up of the pc and monitors just to see it working. And this is the result.

Still lots to do, wiring the buttons up properly , coin mech and hoppers to wire up.

But I'm quite happy with the results so far.

  22. By all means, create a Dropbox account for yourself as its really easy to do. I can't at the moment because I already have an account and can only use 1 at a time when they are free personal accounts. Then pop your roms in there. Any pc logged into that Dropbox will have access and as a result, will share the same rams

  23. The idea is simple enough. Those who want to participate would all log into the same onedrive account on their pcs. Then simply load the roms from the ondrive folder as normal in MFME.

The problem with this is that you can only log into 2 onedrive accounts if only 1 is a free personal account. Any more, and you have to pay.

As my pcs are logged into my main account I can't add a throwaway account for mfme without paying.

The reason why its good for mfme is that onedrive acts just the same as local storage on your pc so mfme finds and loads the files just like when on your pc.
