  1. just to add to vectras post. MFME uses the .fml extension for it's layouts. If you download a layout for JpEmu - the layout will have a .JEL extension and won't work in MFME v20

So ideally, stick with MFME layouts, and use JpEmu only if there's no MFME version of the game to play. Hopefully that makes sense :D

  2. So assuming this is in MFME and from a RAM clear, clicking on S Door to open the service door, let it completely go through the boot process, then clicking it again to close the service door and letting it completely boot should sort the issue.

  3. i always wondered why they didn't have the camera at a fixed height, instead of it expanding its view depending on your speed - that was the worst thing about GTA1, London and 2 :D

Glad you did this vid though, definitely bought back some memories from when I used to play it as well

  4. In no particular order, but:

Pilotwings, Mortal Kombat 1-3, SF2, SF2 Turbo, Rival Turf, World Cup Striker, Fifa 96, Fifa International Soccer, ISS, ISS Deluxe, Madden 95, Theme Park, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario All Stars, Super Mario World, Legend of Zelda ALTTP, Street Racer, Top Gear, Super Tennis, Micro Machines, Killer Instinct, Rise of the Robots (which was a really dull game, but graphically pushing the boundaries), Super Mario Kart, Starwing,

EDIT - more games i remember: Super Ghouls and Ghosts (which had me pulling my hair out), Tiny Toons - Buster Busts Loose, Addams Family - Pugsleys Scavenger Hunt (very pretty but insanely difficult)

There are others, but it was so long ago. I recently purchased a mini SNES which has been modded, which basically has a raspberry pie in it, so it has over 2000 games from various systems on it. So i'm rediscovering my youth, and loving it, and because I never had a master system or a mega drive, i'm exploring what I missed back then

  5. It looks like you like you're a  Barcrest (and similar - such as BWB and Vivid) MPU4 and MPU5 games) type of person

Personally, the list of fun games to play in MFME is too long and, if you're limited to how much you can download each day or month, I fear we might recommend you something you don't like. What I would say is there's some handy channels on Youtube where you can browse people either playing 50 credit challenges in the emulator, or just play the game for about 2-3 minutes just to show the layout and what the game is like briefly.

I'll link 3 of my go to's when it comes to searching for what games I might be interested in that i've not heard of before.

https://www.youtube.com/c/WorldofMFME/playlists - this lists games by operator, have a look around the barcrest playlist, as well as the BWB and Vivid ones for games of that ilk, and of course broaden your horizons with other manufacturers.

  6. The setting itself is odd, but it works so do as follows :P

Click on Design and go into edit mode.

drag the window open slightly to the right so you have a bit of open black space available. Right click in that bit of space you've created and go down to buttons, then select the option "Button". Right click the button you've created and tap on properties.. Leave the button number blank, but underneath in the coin/note drop down menu you need to select "20p Binary" . Then choose a shortcut (as pressing 0 gives you £1 credits, I usually would choose 9 as a shortcut, so whenever you press 9, you will insert a 10p coin) If you want, in the big open box at the bottom right, you can label the button like I have, but you don't have to - basically make sure you have it set up as per the image below

    Then click on apply.

    Close the properties window

Drag the right hand side of the window back to where it was, so it just shows the machine and hides the black area and the button. The Save the layout (Design, Layout/Game, Save layout) and come out of edit mode.

    Jobs a goodun.:D

I did spend ages trying to find other coin inputs such as 20p or 50p, but I tried every button number from 1-160 with no joy, and all the options in that drop down menu. Sods law those coins have really silly button numbers, but hey, I got your 10p working!

As said in another topic don’t ram reset the machines unless you know how to re-pair them also @fruitsnappa has a valid point, these layouts were released recently so they should be accessible within the normal download sections/reflex if so they should load up fine from the various release threads

I only thought downloads from the legacy section were for older layouts that aren’t a available through the standard download sections these layouts afaik shouldn’t be in there? But obviously they are?

:D it's how I'm learning about it in MFME - I like to start a machine from afresh and ran into these problems myself when I ram cleared, spent a while trying to  figure it out and got there in the end :P

  8. So i can sort Game of Gnomes and Club Treble Top.

    Assuming you're using MFME 20.1:

Game of Gnomes -Tap on Design and go into Edit Mode, Open Service Door by ticking S Door, go into Configuration options

Make sure Note Acceptor, Hopper 1 and Hopper 2 have DES ticked and that note acceptor has GB2 selected underneath (as I think when you download it, the note acceptor might be set to GB1 which might be causing the error) . Basically you want the values set in the photo below

Then, Tick Trusted underneath Note Acceptor, Hopper 1 and Hopper 2.

Hit Ram Clear, let the game do its thing to boot up. As it's initialising, the 3 ticks underneath DES will disappear as this is the machine pairing the coin mechs and note acceptor... and make a cup of tea whilst it sits through the SND CHK from 1 to 100. If (When) Succesful, the display will say £1, 10p and Note acceptors are trusted.

Untick service door so the machine reboots,  and come out of edit mode then you should be good to go.

Make sure you save the layout too - Design, Layout/Game, Save Layout

Basically do the same for Club Trable top as well.

There is definitely a £5 version of Mortal Wombat because I know of one in an arcade.

yeah @woodsy updated the release with the correct roms for the £5 version. Strangely, the roms in the £5 version can be changed up to £25 JP, but the roms in the £25 version released can't be changed from £25, and you can only switch between 25p and 30p stake (otherwise it will error)! All fun and games but it got sorted :)

  10. Just for anyone who has the £25 version of Mortal Wombat and sees that it's mute, close MFME down, go into the folder where you've saved Mortal Wombat files, open up the GAM file for Mortal Wombat in notepad, and the MasterVolume setting is currently set to 0.. Simply edit it to something around the 120 mark, save the GAM file, then fire up MFME again, and load Mortal Wombat back in, and it should then, have sounds

  11. @woodsy there seems to be a problem with Mortal Wombat £5 version - the £5 version is released still on 30p/£25 but when you lower it to £5 jackpot, it gives the "invalid key 4.6 error". Whats bizarre is that on the alpha display as it's booting it says 5C 10p (as it does for any other stake/JP you try to set) but the error only disappears when you put it back to £25JP at 25p or 30p play. So i'm not sure this is a runner at £5 unfortunately
