No stress edward . Real life first. We all have time. Hope you and your wife are ok after shit covid. Thats all what counts.
Greetings spidy
Echoed, by all I am sure. Really is one of those threads that draw the eye and rightly so!! Thanks for your update and look forward to more when the time comes!

10p reds are pure value games and they bizarrely throw in big mega streaks and super if they are set up for reds and blue, take every win you can whilst retaining you know how to get the mega etc, additionally play them on super spin not mega, as they often give the super bonus blue/reds to give the big win

I've popped a note into Trello about this feature - the entire camera/character controller stuff will be being completely rewritten, current implementation is just hacked together to tide us over (like many things in AS )
Excellent work on getting this mystery Dutch SRU rom running, and Sodoku-ing through to build up the layout! I'm guessing this ROM cannot be made to run in MFME? Once I'm up and running with this new conversion stuff, people can make MFME v20.1 classic layouts to be converted for MAME internal reference layouts, though it's always loads easier to create if it can be playtested in MFME first. Those symbols look perfectly playable, and you've probably got them pretty close anyway Since the consensus was not in favour of the SVG fruit symbols - for most fruit symbols like the ones in the layout, I'll just do filled ellipses, but they will be colored appropriately (green for melon, red for cherry etc), with potential a second 'primitive' to differentiate same colored shapes. So on your layout above for instance, I might do something to differentiate between lemon and bell as they'd both be yellow. So with the word and the color and the shape(s), it should still end up somewhat 'playable' I think. Reels on the test Adders & Ladders look like this, pretty easy as it has very few symbols:
Ta for the heads up on the SRU changes - I'll be doing some platform level configs (so 'all SRU digits reversed' etc), along with per machine config overrides - so things like reversed/forward digits etc will work ok, with minimal extra effort when building all my machine conversion configs.
If the new SRU machine can be run in MFME (or even if not), perhaps someone will build a classic layout for it, that'll work for a MAME internal layout with minimal changesEHHHH just thowing in my 5 pence... maybe a triangle fo the bell>

Well when you're a bit older i'll show you how to get high of the permanent ones
great to see you upcycling the electronics matey!! keep up the shabby work eh...
but it's warming to see progress in visual and written ways, that for me helps a lot and i'm confident others will too!!

The high resolutions are always much appreciated - as they're definitely more future-proof, both in terms of future higher resolution monitors (8k+ etc), plus VR is getting higher resolution eye panels... plus when VR is in, it will be easy to physically lean forward and look more closely at glass artwork. I do also plan at some point to build in a zoom function for when playing with keyboard&mouse / joypad (so something like the mouse scrollwheel would be used to zoom into the machine a bit).
I guess you're like an artist metaphorically, you see the grand design in your mind and the ability to code allows you to make it a reality like the project is your canvas..
really fantastic stuff, and i totally agree, soon 4k will be standard as things go bigger and better and cheaper too..

You too! I checked your 'Files' section to find an image preview of the Happy Fruits layout you requested, you've made a ton of layouts now, keep up the good work
Everything takes ages, but at some future point I will be back in the position to do a fresh 'new machine' push, and then I'll be able to build more of the Spidy cabs (plus planning to adapt some MPU4 cabs to do Sys 80/JPM SRU) and add more converter functionality, and I'm sure some of your layouts will then finally make it in to Arcade SimThanks for your positive comments! I really enjoy that I can add to the scene in my own ways, I see your work as the future and that’s why I’m striving to do as high a resolution as possible and of course looks worthy of a place in the heaven on a laptop that is A.S. As for the time I feel that the internet will live on long after I’m gone so being immortalised is my best achievement as the mfme side of things. I really appreciate your explanations and I hope you understand that I am not asking to be a priority etc, just to have it on the lists. Thanks for everything you do

Ah cool, I've updated the note on the requests sheet, since it's a single reel it should convert ok, but will just have a horizontally stretched reel lamp for the moment
you sir are a legend

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1VtMkjI0R3fnQE3ueasZNUrVk2DltPRjZFSPTPgYVQoA/edit?usp=sharing
If that is 2x adjacent reels for the dual number reels, that currently trips up the converter, so that's a potential blocker.
I'll not be back on ArcadeSim for a while yet, as this MAME layout/config/debug view work is turning into a significantly larger task (as I want to do a much higher quality and complete job of it than the first pass I did back in 2016).
When I'm back on AS I may initially convert Spidy's JPM Electra cab in the existing MFME+Retroarch arcade with some Impact machines - but the main new work is building a second test arcade, that will be driven by MAME for both fruits and videos (this is all tech yet to be developed, but should hopefully be doable). These will then have 'instant startup' via save states, and that's where the 'wallet' and multiplayer stuff will be initially developed (using the save states). Also potential for cross platform further down the road... so much work planned, never enough timeOooh sounds great!! Thanks for the update and fyi it’s just the one horizontal 16 stop reel for the numbers. I have a lot of admiration for the work you’re doing and I won’t be anything less than happy to see your progress on any of your projects

@johnparker007 fantastic work and detailed explanations as always.
excuse the off topicness but please can you add my latest release happy fruits to the arcade when that time is upon us, of course any of mine too but that one has special meaning to me and i don't mind the wait mate just want to get it on the list for the feeling i get inside you see!!
keep rock starring in your mame group

i think i may have actually got the banter result i was aiming for haha.. it's been greek from my arrival and probably before that too, i've translated it before and it's vague but if you use a thesaurus you can get a definition although they seem a bit like a horoscope... it's what you make of it really..
glad you all took it well thought @Sarkymark77 being new might just fall for it haha

I never do 'one at once' I get bored easy and between work and family time is limited to bitesize sessions.
My wip folder has over 100 projects in it many abandoned over the years due to versions released by other designers. Others haven't been touched in a long time.
In reality I only have upto a dozen in active development, LTGTR being one of these, flyer has been scanned and and in the process of cleaning up and removing lines, I cannot give any time lines here.
ok well i respect that fully. i just wanted to ask and thanks for the detailed response.

Nice one! Would love to know if that’s ram or internal memory that’s 8gb so I can compare the market with a better idea of things but as a n00b I’m guessing it’s not ram

hello good buddy, it's my first time posting on your D-EXCELLENT EXCELLENT site, thanks for your service.
I previously discussed my desire to see ltgtr remade and don't know your work style, if it's one at once, many at several stages etc..
whilst I don't want to seem rude or pushy, please can you let me know if you will be putting that in the mix anytime soon? i'm not quite but almost as excited for this as i was fortune wheel you provided for me..

Haha yes I agree. Wiring diagrams can look sp overwhelming sometimes. My advice to anyone who feels this way is to not look at the whole picture. Print the sheet if you can, or create an editable inage on your screen of choice. There are 28 terminals to connect for this, just choose a colour wire and focus on that alone. Then after both ends are done you will have 26. Cross off the terminals as you go. You will soon be down to zero and have yourself a working hopper setup :).
@mpu_five as far as im aware, you can only drive two hoppers because of the coin signal input. Hence why I'm using £1 and 10p. I would love to add 2p payout because as a young lad I pretty much spent my entire two week caravan holidays in the parks amusements on the good old nudge shuffle machines :). You can however add multipliers to the coin output in the settings, so for example if the payout was expecting to deliver a 50p coin you can use this to spit out 5x10p's. There are some 10p play versions on this site of my old 2p favourites so I've compromised and used those instead. When I have more space I will build a second machine dedicated to 10p / 2p payout.
you will also need relays if you choose to go 12v for your leds. I think the ultimarc website shows how to wire, or its on here somewhere. Personally i find the 5v more than adequate, but each to their own.
I took a punt on my cube hoppers, got a box of six off ebay for just 20 quid. The guy just wanted his shelf back!
@davep180 thanks for the kind words. I hope it helps somebody
Thanks for your great advice! I am one who tries to do the maximum just because I know someone else can haha!!

That's absolutely great @madgerald1974It opens up more hopper opportunities for anyone else attempting a cabinet build. Many thanks.
23 hours ago, madgerald1974 said:Sure, i've made a jpg wiring diagram of my system. See attached.
The relays I used are HL-52s which are easily available from ebay or amazon etc. They are powered / grounded from the 5v / gnd pins in the centre of the ipac labelled for trackball.
You can see the pacdrive will first send the payout signal to the relay (green wire), which will then close the 12v circuit and power the hopper (red / orange wire), which then sends a coin issued signal back to the other relay (blue wire) which closes the circuit and signals the ipac (yellow wire) and that generates the required [ or ] to acknowledge the coin.
Hope that helps. Shout me for any questions and If i can help, I will
cheers
looks like a spaghetti bolognese imo.. but i like the optimistic side of dave sometimes!!

Look in the MFME v20 install folder and there's a file called Tips, which contains lots of helpful info and shortcuts.
One thing that MFME never had, was a really good general users guide. I started to create one back in the day, when I used to create disks for mates. Just about how to load games, do some simple edit, view meters etc...etc...
Regs guide for dummies about layout creation was great though and is easy enough to follow, to get anyone interested in layout designing started.
That guide is the way I got to grips with designing, that and uncle @vectra666
