Hi Davep180 and anyone interested in this idea, I was thinking of hosting all the images and videos certainly for mfme and building up system by system my initial thoughts are a £1 or so a month, I used to have a dedicated server for selling iOS apps and hosted all the images for all the apps in 13 different languages it would be over a million apps so i'm used to hosting a lot of images and things also did another site for reselling apple movies so hosted a lot of images of cast and movie posters, etc. I was thinking if I wrote this Im guessing there would be people that would upload and share their custom media, some people just like to create images and share. It's quite a bit of work to build this as it is quite a big project as I would need to build the web system to allow submissions and the other side where the images and things are provided to the gamers, so a totally bespoke system a one off. Although I built the sample as shown in the video it is a demo this is still an idea, so welcome any comments on this.

I have an idea, What if I could develop a web based front end that is a system you just configure your roms and things and the web provides all the images and graphics with minimal configuration. What if you could move elements around the screen to where you want them so in effect you design your screen so the video will go here, the static image goes here, etc.... So there would be a design mode and a run time mode, in run time mode you just scroll through your roms online and select to play with all the media being provided online. The system would not provide any roms just the media, images, video's, etc I would also look at different resolution of images and videos for the lucky people using 4k, 1080p, etc Sure its a fair amount of work but wondering what peoples thoughts are on this ? I have written some software that actually uses a similar infrastructure to what is required to build this so I dont see this as a massive issue to built a test system with a couple of games, etc. But why stop with fruit machines, the system could basically serve all the media for all the emulation systems and individual roms, as i'm sure a system like this would certainly mass a lot of user submissions The video is a quick web front end, so the images are just static images just to test the system currently but it hopefully gives some ideal of what I am posting, also started a new thread incase I add more energy into this project. Unfortunately a system like this would come at a cost for the hosting simply due to the storage that will be required and the bandwidth to service the media so i'm wondering if such a system is something of interest?

Thanks John, I think Jamie is looking for something with image scrapping and less configuration In honesty I had to resurrect the website with the images as its bumped around a couple of servers and not really have time to even check it was running ok, but many thanks for the plug,

Working for me, on both links. but the domain is lagging which is a bit strange.

I have been undecided to keep the domain name, I have updated the profile to include both links, Both links should be working now although the second link should remain up at all times. If you have any further issues let me know, I know I need to release the new version just not had the time.

Not available yet, not built the generator for it to make life simple, not everyone knows how to do web scripting so it needs to be simple, Almost like a selection of buttons that you select what you want your default layout to be then press the button and it will create all the files for all the imported roms. This way you can just load in the video file, animated gif, etc into the folder, enable it for the rom and it will work.

This is the version of FruitBar that I was working on some time ago to explain in a little detail, The panel on the left side is 100% web enabled, this enables the use of video, animated Gifs, still images, etc basically anything you want you can add into the panel, it really can be as easy as you make it but you can do anything with the panel that you wish limited by web technology. I was planning to add a generation tool so the template files will be self generated then you can just enable the panel for a rom and it will load your video file, so not exactly difficult to setup. You could of course edit the template file, or the individual files so you can do what ever you want to do. There is a lot more in this version too, yes I added mame and windows too. Any suggestions let me know,

@davep180 I had a bit of time this morning so I sorted the fruitbar site so uploads are now working, Not sure if it will be fast as it used to be, but its good for now. Andrew

I looked into the volume of visitors to fruitbar, in honesty compared to my other site that gets around 10,000 unique visitors a month with around 850,000 requests a month. The fruitbar site would not get enough income from clicks to pay for its self as the traffic is quite small in comparison. I will have to look at the options on this one and see what I do with it.....

Maybe I should add some adverts on there and see if it pays for its self, either that move it to somewhere else... I will be back developing on my PC soon, been tied up with app development and things for a while, so who knows I might release the latest release that has all the bells and whistles in it.

I was going to save a few quid and stop paying for the server....

Anyone still using the fruitbar site ? Tempted to close down my dedicated server or maybe relocate it to something less powerful.

I wrote some special software for the hopper and also using the pac device that has power on on boot up which is actually the wrong one. The ideal is the custom software gets the pulse output and takes care of the dispensed coins so once the coins have paid out it will send the character to mfme so everything is basically taken care out with the software handling everything rather than relying on this device or that device where the pulse times are not quite correct and give false payments. I actually have to reinstall my machine and set everything up its one of my to do jobs, I really need to update my mfme roms and fruitbar themes too.

I have to wonder which bit are you having problems with ? Once you setup one rom the rest is simple. It's simply a folder and naming exercise once you have that right it becomes simple. If you wish to post what ever part you are struggling with im sure we can point you in the right direction. The latest build does require a little more configuration but only if you want full game videos, etc simply because you can have anything you want attributed to any individual rom. Then you have the ability to run windows programs, mame, etc but start simple and you will soon be flying.

I still need to reinstall my cab @davep180 I am still using the version with the user configurable panel with anything you want, video, text you name it, it does windows programs, mame, etc I seems to have kind of quiet in here recently so not really posted or popped in too often, did i miss anything ?

Are you guys bored with the current version of Fruitbar yet?

Maybe I'm having a blank moment? In theory where you left the machine isn't that at a random state ? I believe the option to reset is within the game manager in mfme although i have never really look at this option.

I have a new version the one with the smart panel and lots of other goodies..... I will have to finalise a few things in it prior to uploading where it will be available automatically, not touched it for a little while. I added your images to the store thank you !

Once you press Shift the loading picture is really old things would of changed a lot since i put that image in there maybe time to updated it. So once you press shift, you have tabs at the top click on the different tabs to setup the section, mfme has its own config that really sets the different components size and locations, buttons used, etc. The rest is simple once you know how, like setting up the folders, images, etc.
