Can You Beat The Banker ? Turns out you can with this nifty little trick involving the Cash or Bust feature.

Noel declares 'You have won that is your money now' as you bust your way to profit in the video below.

Thanks to @vectra666 for this great Dx

    About the video:

Started after I'd got the machine into about the right state and already busted a couple of big wins. The first third or so of the video may be a bit confusing - you will see me kill off or avoid boards - that was because I thought busting shortly after a big win would always result in busts or low wins - that theory was wrong and I abandoned it - at some point later on you will see 3 big busts in a row within something like 20 quid of credits. So really the second half of the video is better.

@Chopaholic you might want to do a better video - from downloaded state bung about 50 through on 50p stake. Then play boards (not collecting) until you see two that offer £20 or better on the cash stack. Then start busting every board on entry.

As per the quote above I did a video of the empty which still worked at £35 - @Chopaholic tried to do it but kept having issues IIRC.  The only issue is if it gives GATW on board entry as that seems to stuff it up.

  2. From the ZX Spectrum Wiki page ...

From August 1982,[125] the ZX Spectrum came bundled with a software starter pack in the form of a cassette tape entitled Horizons: Software Starter Pack,[126] which included 8 programs: Thro' the Wall (a Breakout clone), Bubblesort, Evolution (an ecosystem of foxes and rabbits), Life (an implementation of Conway's Game of Life), Draw (a basic object-based drawing utility), Monte Carlo (a simulation of the rolling of two dice), Character Generator (for editing user defined graphics) and Beating of Waves (plots the sum of two sine waves)

As Reg says I'm sure there were promotional sales including one or more other games too.

When I got a ZX Spectrum (48k rubber key) for my Christmas present in 1985, Mad Martha was one of the games that came with it..

That's right same for me - I was thinking yesterday how come I had the original but that's why

    Hiyas

Sorry didn't know what to title the thread, OK  today I downloaded the emulator and 2 fruit machines, What I wanted to know is after playing a fruit machine and then closing it , When I open the same fruit machine again will it  be in the same state as I closed it or will it be in the same state as when I first played it ?

    Thanks Anna

    The answer is both.

Normally when you close it will save it's state and therefore when you reopen it will be as you closed it.

However there's an 'exit without saving' option on the menu - in this case it will be in the state when you last opened it.

    • Thanks 1
  6. For the original barcode you are only missing 1-2-3

The likes of Spectre and Shogun had differing features but on those any code followed by stop would give you stop a win for potentially the highest cash value.

Why do people still use the old versions? I thought the new one ran just about everything.

mfme 5.1 is used to convert machines in the old format to the new .fml format which v20.1 uses. So you load the machine in and then save it as .fml format.

    @Wildmanslots

Many thanks for that long and detailed explanation.

Yes - in my experience, the latest Chase (with a 100JP win symbol) was a huge huge improvement on standard Betcom fodder. Much more enjoyable to play - either on an out and out force - or just for fun collecting things. Many more decentish features, the third and forth levels of streak being reasonably achievable... much much fairer deal offers.... wins between £8 and £25 which would repeat...... and of course a physical deal reel so no dodgy look what you could have won!

In a way - seemed to play like a number of Reflexes which are fair and fun - as long as not playing out and out for a JP. Thins like Jungle Bucks, Drac pack (i think thats the title) Valley of the Kings and a few others.

I really liked this machine - shame this was thier last hurrah - cos they may have managed a huge improvement.

That one (the chase is on) did actually pass test (get approval) so there's lots of them about - having said that it does seem rarer than the other approved ones.

If the AWP JP is ever increased from £100 that would mean the only reel bases that would survive, if any, would be reflex.

Drac pack - do you mean drac in the box ?

Maybe not new software - but new artwork and a license fee to ITV / Endemol to boot!  Betcom weren't paying a license fee for Baking Bad and all those.

At the time of the death knoll for AWP's - i'm surprised they were forking out money for licenses.

    Fair point 👍

They bought out the DOND licence aswell.

Both these franchises are on the blueprint digis of course, they must have thought the familiar brand would attract the players.

  10. December 2019 I played a DOND Perfect Deal with about 70% of the bulbs out, this meant you were both playing and counting in advance of pressing start eg when a SPIN square with broken bulb was 6 ahead you had to see if it span a 6 when you hit start.

    Was quite good fun.
