  1. I have just done another test. So in mode 1 the hopper works apart from when you test hopper and it empties the hopper completely. What I did was check on notepad when it was emptying the hopper and it was outputting [[[[[. This ment it was registering the coin output. I re did the the inputs and re did the wiring and now on an mpu5 machine it is now dispensing the correct coins!!!! Finally everything seems to be working at last!!

Thanks for all your help on this! Hopefully it will work on a scorpion 5 layout also 😄

    Is this your hopper?
Azkoyen Hopper UII - Parallel Protocol Rev 1 2011 | Manualzz

If so then you need to check pin 9 and ground with a meter, whilst coins are popping out.

Ok I will check this later and give an update. I have the Azkoyen Hopper U but its still the coin pin I will check.

    The hopper has 3 modes.

Mode 1 will let me hold the test button and it will constantly dispence coins but when you test hopper it won't stop.

Mode 2 when you click test the hopper will start spinning but won't stop even when you stop clicking the test button (opposite to Mode 2)

Mode 3 I think works by waiting for a pulse. Not when you click the test button it will despence 1 coin and stop. Quickly tap test 3 times and it will dispence 3 coins. When I click test hopper in this mode I get the 10 second delay and it won't payout. This mode seems to be the one that sees the coin dispensed. It just ends up looking like its waiting for the pulses when an actual payout is made.

Not sure what Mode it's supposed to be in yet but I will try to test the coin pin later and see that its working

  3. Hey all.

Ok a huge thank you to Andy at Ultimarc!! My I-PAC was buggered and he sent me a new one out so I am now back to where I was.

Ok so everything is now working as it should apart from the hopper. If I set up the hopper and test while it highlighted it chucks out a pound instantly. If I click test hopper it waits for about 10 secs and then chucks out a pound. If after 5 seconds after I click test gopher I close the software the pound will then instantly come out. Its like something in the background it thinking. I still can't get a fruit to pay out although I think it's due to this issue. I am so close to it all working as it should!!

Could you load winipac without the ipac connected. Find the output that uses '5' and disable that port completely. Then replug the ipac ?

Problem is if the ipac isn't connected then winipac shows no board. Am beginning to think it's buggered so may have to buy another one

Has this happened as soon as you sorted your common ground ? If so then its probably related to that. If it worked fine for a bit since then, its probably not related.

Does sound like maybe a wire is shorting somewhere?

Edit: just seen you said tried in another pc so unlikely to be that. Is it still doing that with all wires disconnected ?

Yes still doing it with all the wires disconnected. It was fine with the new ground. It was when I was trying to sort the hopper test delay I was getting. I think something must have happened then

Are you unplugging it (Pacdrive) and rebooting MFME after each time it plays up? If not then it will just keep playing up.

@Amusementsdo you mean the ipac or the pacdrive?

Ok here is what I have tried.

I have taken all of the wires out and plugged the ipac into another pc. Same problem. Just spams 5555555555 and opens explorer.

I have tried reseting it with the winpac to default but it locks up when uploading the settings to the ipac.

I have started MFME and then plugged in the ipac which didn't change anything 😟

Got there in the end. Well done to everyone involved and shows what can be achieved by sharing knowledge and putting heads together.

If the hopper stops after 1 coin maybe the coin sensor is dirty ? If the hopper detects a coin for too long across the sensor it stops the hopper as it thinks there is a fault. Am stumped on the 10 second delay though. Has that been resolved now?

Yes a massive thank you to everyone who helped with this! We couldn't have fixed it without your guys help!

I will try and test this later. It could have been due to it not being on a proper power supply. I have ordered one now so if it comes today I will wire it up and test it again. If that doesn't work I will clean the coin sensor @No1Stoneyand try again

@Psycon Yes ive cut the cable before it goes into the laptop and its giving out 20v so its powering the hopper fine , not sure if 20v is ok for coin mech if it is i will use it for that and not bother with the other power supply

Ahh ok cool. Have you had it pay out properly when you win on the machine yet?

@Psycon @Reg @No1Stoney and anyone else , It was the common ground which was the problem  , connected hopper to my pc cable which is 20v and now the hopper works perfect!!!!

    Thanks everyone😀

Have you got yours working @Psycon?

Yes mine is now working! Phew!! Doesn't want to pay out on a game yet but it is working when you test it in config. Is there a 20v output on the pc psu @cja272?

That looks ok for the PSU - sorry been at work.

That also looks like a common ground - I think that looks alright.

Thanks for that. Slowly but surely getting there now!  Ok I have had a break through. With the 24v power connected to common ground the hopper works fine and as it should when you test it. Finally it has life. The only issue I now have is when you click on test it will instantly pay out a coin. If you click on test hoppers there is a delay of about 10 seconds and then it will chuck out a coin. Also when you win in a game it waits for 10 seconds and only pays out 1 coin even if you win a few.

  11. I will test the ipac and pacdrive later to check for shared ground. @Regis this diagram correct now? The 24v now shares the same ground as the 12v and as the pc shares this ground the ipac and pacdrive should all share the same ground. I wasn't sure if you could put the 12v and 24v negatives together but it seems you can
