This is the layout - but I know how annoyed I'd be if somebody released this work and it was not mine - I honestly thought it was 100% available.

I think an updated one of this showing some depth and put in a better cabinet maybe better for all.  Also the SideWinder lamping needs some attention as well.

    ...is it ready yet? ;)

Where did I say I was ungrateful?? I just said they are of no use to me unfortunately for the reasons I stated. I am allowed to express an opinion aren't I?

It's implied, as I did not get any thanks for doing the laborious task you suggested I undertake... rather just that it was not good enough.

As for opinions sometimes it's best NOT to, you know it's called tack.  In fact I'm currently using a great deal of tack by not expressing my opinion on this forum... 😟

As I said before the whole section as it stands is of no use to me unfortunately.

That's just tough and rather bloody ungrateful to be honest considering I was spending over 8 hours a day for nearly three weeks to convert all the layouts basically because YOU wanted them like that and now once that more than tedious task is done it's still not good enough or to your worship-fullness' liking.  Well maybe you should have coded your emulator differently so the .hex files were not an issue or that it automatically read a rom and changed to the name YOU want...

I've done the very best I can to get a fully playable compatible 'history' of MFME layouts in one place so people can check what is out there and download it with the least hassle possible without DIF hosting all the roms... but no still not good enough.. I wonder if the Whine for Wizard donation is refundable? :(

There is a tool in MFME to unpack a rom.hex into the 4 original ROMS with the correct naming.

Then that is my next job to go through the mpu5 games that use .hex, unpack them and use the correct rom names.  Like I said fairly pointless because I think at one point I had four or five versions of a layout (by different creators) and they all had different named roms even though the rom itself was identical.  There is no perfect solution.

  6. 1 hour ago, Wizard said:

Yes but also by renaming all the ROMs you've lost the original version numbers that some had, and you can't tell what your version is unless  you delve into the ROM

Makes no odds to me, just that I can't give anyone the ROMs required as I don't know what they are, in fact I don't even know what the layout is without looking at the screenshot either.

A ROM has it's own identity and should be re-named to match the layout it's used in.

So basically all my hard work over the last three weeks converting files, and weeding out dupes was for nothing... :( :(  Just can't win :(

I've not renamed roms for the sake of it just .hex files that more often than not were named 'rom.hex' these were done to match the layout name to avoid confusion

Where roms like Maygay has a definite 'name' in the rom file that has been adopted to try and weed out dupes like cluedo1.bin and cluedo10p5.bin when in essence they were both sa-415 for example because people like @Reg  ;) would release loads of Monopoly layouts with the mon.bin when it's real name was sa-876 - real names have always been adopted whenever possible.  No point have four or five roms in a set that are identical but folk have named them differently...

    Excellent - thank you mate.

That was the worst one yes ?

Yeah fella by a long way, Barcrest had 17 sections, next most I think is BFM and most of them are already .fml.  BWB, BFM and JPM out the way it's a doddle... basically a manufacturer a day.

The 'misc' section will take some sorting out to make sure the correct roms are about as will Maygay... most Maygay's have 're-named' roms in them which is a shame as it's one company that actually has the rom name and revision in the file!
