Missing MS Sans Serif font error (MFME Build 19 Update 8)

I'm trying to figure out why I am constantly getting a Missing Font Error when running some layouts.  Windows 10 has the font, I double checked my PC and it has Microsoft Sans Serif installed, I even tried putting a .ttf for Micross.ttf into the Fonts folder (and doing a re-add of games to the database - do you have to delete the original database first??).

Or maybe it's looking for a different version of the font?

Any ideas what's happening here?  (Thank you in advance!)

I get this also.

I've a feeling there are different versions of fonts on different versions of Windows. So a layout produced in Windows XP, 7 or 8, will use a different version of the fonts, to what you have installed on Windows 10.

I find when I produce a layout on my Windows 8.1.1 laptop and use the Lithograph font, the font looks different when I finish the layout on my Windows 10 PC, sometimes words that fit correctly on lamps in the Windows 8.1.1 version, don't fit in correctly when the layout is loaded on Windows 10.

Why are you using v19.8, when v20.1 is the latest version of the emulator. https://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/files/file/687-mfme/

Thank you for the input, I was wondering if it was a different version Font thing.... as I noticed that some of the Microsoft Sans Serif I was trying were different sized .ttf files.  If anyone has a good solution (or method to keep the Font check screen from coming up) I would greatly appreciate it!

I will update my version of MFME, that's just the latest version that the version that came with a CoinOps collection (PicMick's) that I started with as a base trial would update to on its own.   Thank you for pointing me to the latest!

OK, I figured it out and thought I'd post it here in case someone else doesn't have a definitive answer.  (Not sure if it's corrected with latest install of MFME yet)

Windows 10 is missing an old fixed user interface .fon Bit Map Font MS Sans Serif.  (Presumably it'a since been replaced by TrueType and Open Type fonts which are supposed to be backward compatible and more resolved on higher resolution monitors.)

So the fix for me was to hunt down a copy of SSERIFE.FON and install it.  Missing MS Sans Serif error gone.

I used a user enhanced one here (but there are other more official sources): https://jeff.tk/sserife/
