  1. My experience of service station fruit machines, are losing on 70% average payout machines.

But they do bring back lots of memories of days out and holidays with my mate.

I'm not a driver, so don't really know the name and positions myself, but my mate used to map them out where we would stop. I can hear him saying, we'll stop at Keele and Chievelys, that you mentioned, on our trips to Blackpool, Manchester, Alton Towers etc to and from London.

I'm pretty sure it's down south, but Clacketts (sp???), was one he mentioned a few times.

It's a shame that someone in your personal life saw fit to spoil that. There are some assholes around.

I don't believe that was the case.

More a case, that his work and other members of his family could become aware of it and it could bring trouble to his door. Just like people get sacked or forced to resign for a view or action expressed from when they were a completely different person to what they are now.

My brother got the sack from a job for a Facebook comment, which was reported to his work.

  3. I too hope the channel returns.

Perhaps it could return as a private video channel, where people could only watch them if they click on a link in this thread for instance. Or certainty ones you consider controversial and bring trouble to your door.

It would miss out on new viewers in general, but would still gain some through new members here.

I'm guessing you are missing being able to get your voice out there on subjects not just FME related.

  4. I do agree with Serene, this will continue to happen.

There's been links on here where you can download all the layouts, if you look beyond the initial landing page.

Posting links to people's Facebook pages, websites etc... also provides further links to disks.

The hope would be that some good comes out of it, for instance new members, who can offer up new resources.

I think the word of FME is now spreading further than ever, with lots of members interested in adding FME to their cabinet set ups, from Italy to the USA.

If the Arcade Simulator, ends up with MFME and MAME together it will probably explode, to all parts of the world, as MAME is worldwide.

  5. These machines remind me of Prize Bingo, when people say, I won some great prizes from Bingo over the years, but forget how much they paid for the bingo.

I remember at Butlins, some people would spend most of their holiday, playing Prize Bingo, in the arcades. Mind you of course I can't talk, I used to do the same on the fruitys lol.

There is an arcade in Hemsby near Great Yarmouth who have removed the ticket payout and instead the machine prints you a receipt with the amount of tickets you have won

A good idea, but probably not as popular with the kids, who love seeing them coming out of the machine.

  7. Occasionally this has been reported.

It could be that after a certain amount of days, it will look for an update automatically.

Or could be for some reason your install lost a file or one became corrupted and so it been downloaded again.

  8. I enjoy watching RMC.

The guy Neil, seems like he is a genuine guy, who doesn't profit from what he does on this project.

If I had anything to give away that I thought was genuinely worth preserving I would be happy to send it to him, confident, that he wouldn't just sell the item or keep it for himself.

  9. When you load in a layout, the roms will automatically be attributed to the layout.

You have 9 layout files there. C01 being Classic layout 1, DX01 being DX layout 1.

You can tell straight away some will be the wrong jackpot or stake, by looking at the gallery for the layouts.

    https://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/gallery/category/8-barcrest/&sortby=image_caption ASC%2C image_id &sortdirection=desc&page=27

In the description for C01 for instance it's a £10jp, so no good.

So having found out, which ones are £6 layouts, then you need to load them in the emulator, then see if they pay out in tokens/cash, perhaps the layout notes, might say so.

Failing that, you could try looking at https://www.planetemu.net/?section=recherche&recherche=road hog&type=Tous les mots&rubrique=roms

You need to download each individual rom and then when you go to upzip it with winrar, it will show in the description what type it is for instance the bottom one in the list on the link above R_0 3.0, when you go to unzip it, is labelled rh5p8.bin, meaning 5p £8.

  10. I play tested a few of Scorpio's layouts back in the day. One of them was the MPU4 machine, Rich and Famous.

    https://www.fruit-emu.com/forums/files/file/892-rich-famous-1280-wdx/

They were a very good DX'r, who just came out of the blue.

Then they seemed to disappear off the scene, for no obvious reason (i.e not involved in any arguments etc and I think it was during one of the scenes calm periods too). I hope they are ok and I hope perhaps they are still around under a new name or will rediscover the scene once again.

  11. If you are talking about machines with £15 - £70 jackpots, then the button has a few different uses.

It's basically a hint or slow down button.

So depending on the machine, it's can be used to slow down a skill stop, give a true skill on a mystery, bonus or dapple gamble. Also it can give a hint as to what the next hi-lo number will be, or even give a hint on what a feature does, before you decide to take it.

On some machines, you hear a laugh sample, when it activates, but if the button lights during gameplay, it's always of use.

If it says anything, it usually, lets play or play Barcrest or just has the Mr Barcrest logo on it.

  12. There aren't any as far as I know.

You should have a look at The MFME for new designers guide by Reg and have a go. It'll show you how to create a non graphical "classic" layout

    https://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/topic/559-mfme-for-new-designers/#comment-1551

It's how I managed to produce my first layout for MFME, after I had been a member on the FME scene for 16-17 years beforehand. I've now done about 50 layouts.

All the graphical DX layouts we have, start by either the DX author or someone else, producing a classic layout for the machine beforehand.

If you manage to get a classic layout done, do post it, even if it's the one from the guide. Then if interested in doing a graphical DX layout, then I'm sure our DX layout designers will help you out.

    Hi

The games in the legacy section only contain the layouts but there are no ROMs in the games, or at least the last time I downloaded from this section this was the case so you will need to source the ROMS before you can actually play the game

For about a year and a half now, upon loading a legacy layout, the roms are automatically downloaded and added to the layout.

  14. Strangely I was just thinking about doing a post to thank you, as it's not practical, to like every screenshot post.

Thanks very much for all you do, I mainly use the gallery often for looking to see if previous releases of potential layouts have been done.

I also use it to look for old classic layouts from the early days of FME, where a DX has never been released.

Background stuff like this, is just as important as the next release.

  15. Under downloads you'll see legacy layouts.

    https://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/files/category/37-legacy-layouts/

Click on the manufacture of the machine, then if necessary click on the section it will be in, I.E. A-E for layouts titled A-E.

Then click on download this file, it will then take you to the list of machines and just select which one you want.

It will download several version, if several are available.

Then when you load them into the emulator, the emulator, will automatically find the roms needed to run the layout.

The layout gallery, is the place to look, if you can't remember a name of a machine, just sort them by caption, to sort them by alphabetical order.

  16. I pre-ordered one of these a few months back.

A bit expensive, but I just kind of got into collecting mini consoles/computers, without the intention of doing so.

Many of them, I haven't even opened, but it's quite cool seeing them all in a row on a shelf behind me, when I turn around from my computer desk.

Normally, I would say, what's the point in buying something and then not opening it, but I see these like ornaments or paintings for an old school gamer, something to display. These are my little treats to myself every so often.

  17. I get this also.

I've a feeling there are different versions of fonts on different versions of Windows. So a layout produced in Windows XP, 7 or 8, will use a different version of the fonts, to what you have installed on Windows 10.

I find when I produce a layout on my Windows 8.1.1 laptop and use the Lithograph font, the font looks different when I finish the layout on my Windows 10 PC, sometimes words that fit correctly on lamps in the Windows 8.1.1 version, don't fit in correctly when the layout is loaded on Windows 10.

Why are you using v19.8, when v20.1 is the latest version of the emulator. https://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/files/file/687-mfme/
