  1. I notice there's a flyer available for this on eBay - do we have any roms? https://ebay.us/m/nzNniD

    Gorf

Wow. That one brings back memories. The Collectors Record Centre in Redhill used to have two video games, and this reminds me of the time they had Gorf and Carnival. Must have been about 1981.
  5. It's probably better that they're shit, so fewer kids think they're a good way to spend money. That's how it starts
  6. RollerCoaster is the pinnacle of AWP design. Play it on £10 jackpot for the best experience.
  7. And that that had to have a sticker on the front that basically said 'sometimes the machine will offer you a gamble with no chance of success'. For example, hi/lo on a number that will lose no matter what you choose.
  8. The more you play you'll find there is a big difference between true skill and pseudo skill on many machines. For example, many old machines could have all their money emptied out of them by players who were good enough to hit skill stops constantly, and the developer hadn't thought this would be possible. However, play any Betcom machine you find in the downloads section and you'll find things like the very top reel that you get to spin after the 'deal or no deal' type feature is 'pseudo skill'. In other words, you're supposed to think if you're good enough you can stop it on mega streak, but in reality it stops where it wants and your input is irrelevant.
  9. Thinking back though, I'm pretty sure there was a £200 rom that would let you have both pots. I'm basing this on hazy memories of a Lee Dixon charity golf day about 20 years ago, where a chap in a wheelchair, no doubt a beneficiary of the day, was playing the machine in the clubhouse while we had breakfast, and by the time we'd finished our round he'd gone and so had both the cashpots. Love to know if anyone else here had managed to get both in the wild?
  10. The whole point of cashpots being a 'free' win is that it WOULDN'T leave the machine on its arse when it paid a jackpot. It was probably the BEST way to compensate a club machine. Someone with knowledge - or the balls to climb it out on earlier machines like Club Attraction/Explosion - could make their money without ruining the game for the casual, which would of course then fill the machine up again for the pro player. It was around the time of these later chips that I stopped bothering with BFM club machines.
  11. Some ROMs would let you have both, others just one. And some later ferry versions didn't pay it at all!
  12. The later BFM £100 AWPs would get all excited about any win over £25
  13. It certainly is incredible, and we must always thank the astonishing work of Wizard (Chris) who built the emulator. He sadly departed this mortal coil a couple of years ago.
  14. I'm not convinced they're separate pots. It won't award either unless it can afford them, and in my experience you're unlikely to get 99 nudges unless it's behind enough to pay both. The one I have is so far behind it'll usually pay four jackpots, either both pots and two jackpots or one pot and three jackpots before clamming up
