football 80 was the only ne I finished hunted for months for a St Mirren sticker with 2 people on it in the end swapped all my spares for it and it was a hell of a stack but didn't care as I had completed my book
I never even managed to complete just one book ever! Remember doing the same as what you did with the swaps. I would be that desperate for a couple of stickers, I was quite happy to be fleeced.

Those were the days........ when chocolate actually tasted like chocolate.
Spot on bud, and you got decent size bars not like now...

I remember the Milk Tray bar but don't remember the Dairy Box bar, I came across it whilst looking for an image of the milk tray one so thought I'd post both. Oh, man, the coffee walnut whip tasted good!

Remember that, but never had one. Seen a cheapo rip off china crap one in B & M at xmas and thought of this had a little smile on my face.
Yeah, I was gonna say there are some crap copies about these days.
Some nice Raleigh bikes here! I posted two Raleigh Burner pics as I had both colours at one time or another.

50p gas and electic meters.
Well what can i say about these apart from when ever they came to empty the thing there would only be one 50p in there cause for some reason money was tight and dad would brake the lock and just keep putting the same 50p though all the meters then when he wanted some fags use the 50p at the shop then we would run out of electic and send me around next door with a load of pennys for a 50p piece late at night.
We never had the gas meter, only the electric one and the number of times I was playing on the Spectrum and the bloody electric suddenly went off, then would hear them downstairs scrambling around for a 50p in the dark. I always knew when the electric man had been, there would be a stack of 50p pieces on the kitchen table.

I loved hearing the electric milk float making its way up our street at the crack of dawn on a cold dark morning accompanied by the sound of clattering bottles. The Co-op milk float would always turn up in the street late morning, not good for the folks who needed some milk early.

evo, I'd forgotten about the Fidelity HF42, I never had one but a friend at junior school did. He used to play his Madness vinyl records on it.

I loved Treets. But I remember them as chewy soft toffee/caramel in a crunchy shell.
Yeah, that's how I remember them. I think those were also in a blue bag. I didn't know they came back briefly in the 90s.

They don't make selection boxes like that nowadays, evo, as you say, they are a rip off now. I fondly remember those bags of Treets/Texan bars & Spangles.

New Years.
British Tradition.
On the stroke of midnight, people open the back door (to let the old year out) and ask the first dark haired man to be seen to come through the front door carrying salt, coal and bread. This means that the following year everyone in the house will have enough to eat (bread), enough money (salt) and be warm enough (coal).
Anyone still do this?
Happy New Year to all at Desert Island hope you have a great 2019.
My Mam was always into that kind of stuff, she'd insist on my Dad being the first through the door after midnight every new year to bring the house good luck, it rarely worked!
Happy New Year to you as well

So fond of those 8bit days. My first computer was a Vic20, everyone else got Spectrums, so I was the odd one out. I did have some fun times using it though and with the 16k ram pack fitted there were some pretty decent games to play. I used to play Perils of Willy and Wunda Walter to death.
My pathway to the Amiga was Vic, Spectrum, Spectrum 128k, C64. I did have most fun on the Spectrum, all my friends had them so C90 full of games was nice back then.

My next door neighbour got the Vic-20 just after it was released. I remember standing in his front room and just staring at the computer in amazement, he had it connected to his parents big black & white telly. He then sold us his Atari 2600 as he no longer wanted it. Happy days!
