2 USB cables go from the PC to the Button box, which houses the IPac and PacDrive, and a LAN cable goes into the back of the box below with the hoppers, mech and note acceptor (Hacked toy money box).

The speakers plugged in to the monitor add a bit of vibration to the whole thing when played in its static position.

Very nice mate but you lost me at ipac and Pac drive lol, now if you would have said pacmanI may have had half a chance of understanding you 😂

    Nice set up Craig:)

I have a similar monitor set up on a wall mounted arm, and put my button box on top of a separate box with hoppers and mechs in it. Everything is easily moved around, and takes up very little space.

It does add a lot more realism, and makes a nice money box. It is nice to have a handful of coins and play to win something tangible.  I have 1500 MFME layouts that work great with my set up, including the Electro Mechanical slots and quiz games. Unfortunately I can not go and play a real machine, so this is the next best thing.

Can I see your set up please mate?

Whilst only mocked up at this stage, it does feel pretty good to play, can't get me off it at the mo :)

Will start a new topic on the build,  good idea Slasher, certainly a long way to go...currently waiting for some 5v bulbs as the 12v ones surprising still work on 5v but obviously dimmed.

re Hopper and coin mech, I am considering it.. but also want to keep it slim, perhaps even wall mounted.. so will see how i go.

Justme2019 I am also running games on this, but being portrait it is restrictive -  great for pinball though !

Gutted lol, never really been into pinball. Will look forward to the build.

Not really much point of a hopper is there, isn't that a bit overkill.

    About £125 - £150.

The problem here was I never noticed the annual was A5, all the others have been A4.

That is why I think best to wait for the bigger annual to have a larger advert.

Is that the A4?(when it comes about) I don't mind chucking something towards it if it helps

Taking a pause on this advert, if you are buying the Fusion 2021 to see it - don't.

Just saw that the annual for this is A5 rather then A4, that is way too small IMO for all we want to have on it.

This will wait until Crash of ZZap 2021, whatever A4 one he does next.

How much does a full page advert cost in something like this or would you rather not say.

  6. I'm not even sure if the title is the correct terminology 🙄

Is there a way to randomise the money in/out of a machine, so that it will always play different? I have tried resetting the Rom but that just kills the machine and I have also tried editing the money in/out but that doesn't work. If this is possible it would be the icing on the cake for me.

    Thanks

Do u get more downloads for that? I will happily give a tener. I did download ten or so things quite quickly as I looked through a lot of the emulators. Would only do the odd few from now on. I tried fruit emu as well but not sure if after give money that it’ll work. I think I’d rather stick to one and I know I can get them working here

You can download unlimited with a donation to help the site keep going. Actually at the moment the money goes to Wizard who created the emulator.

  8. Only when I'm at the seaside. No machines really appeal to me anymore and are just designed to get your cash as fast as possible. I could sit for hours in seaside arcades though, playing all the old machines. Pretty difficult to lose £40 in a day.

    "Wine for Wizard - Update"

Just a note to say on behalf of this campaign things are going rather well and a many thanks for people that have dipped in so far.

It's worth noting that some people have asked not to have badges so don't assume just because there is no badge they have not supported - the badge is default unless asked for it to be removed or the smaller one.  Look at my profile for example here - I have absolutely supported but live in a world of no badges as I am just an Account Monkey !

I will not be given a raised total at any point - I just want this to be a surprise for Wizard when we hit the two month point.  It also allows me to round it up by adding whatever to a nice round figure at the end.

For anyone that has yet to support and donate Wine for Wizard, please take a look at the attached PDF.

This document was about twenty years ago.  I have updated it a little to swap names around ( IE - old users to their new user name ) but that is it.

The point I want you to do is look at all the great DX's that we have from current .FML Artists and read through and look at the first emulations that were done.  There is a section about the first memories of Fruit Machine Emulation and what people played.  Take a look at the comments by a gentlemen called Michael Lynch.  He has a picture of one of the first versions of what is now MFME, look how far it's come.

If the graphical side is not far enough - then consider the techs.  It used to be called FRUIT.EXE if I recall and it only every did two techs, you can pretty much have everything now.

Rome was not built in a day, it took many years.  MFME was not built in a day and it is still going and being built twenty years later.

For everyone that has supported the Wine for Wizard drive, thank you.

This is the first time in twenty years that we have ever done anything like this for the man that gave us everything on Fruit Machine emulation.  If you are a lurker who has some cash to spare thinking it's OKAY others will support this thank you ( AKA - Wine for Wizard ) campaign then please remember that is has been built over twenty years with zero reward and do what you would hope would be done for you if roles were reversed once you have looked at the PDF attached.

    Thank you.

I just read all of that and it was very interesting. I wish I had read chopaholics article years ago, it may have saved me a lot of money. Was that a digital magazine or something like that? Are there any others available to read?

    Thanks

You can download the layout itself. I.E the toy itself, but if you want the batteries to run it, i.e. the rom files, you have to find them elsewhere, on a rom site for instance.

You may need a specific type of rom, to find out which type you need to use, you need to open the .gam file, that comes with the layout itself, open it with notepad if it asks which program to use.

Once the .gam file is open, it will have something like this showing (these are the roms shown in the .gam file for the £25 version of the machine.)

    Sound 95008440.bin
    Sound 95008441.bin
    ROM 95412452.LO
    ROM 95412453.HI

Whatever the roms are shown in the £5 .gam file are the roms you would need.

So you go to a rom file site, that has fruit machine emulation roms (normally they are under mame roms), such as this https://www.planetemu.net/roms/mame-roms?page=I

You download sets of roms for the machine in question until you find the appropriate roms.

Once you have the roms, put them in the same folder as the layout file.

EDIT.......Not including ram file part, mean the machine will load up as if it's been switched on for the first time, with no money ever put in or taken out. You may get a ram error with some machines, but that should clear.

Thanks for the explanation mate, much appreciated. I will know for next time.

Please be looking in the legacy section, that is what it's there for, thank you come again..

I did check it and to be honest I was lost by what the following meant....

This also means that a little "leg-work" will need to be needed to make them run as this are distributed without the rom needed for the game.

The games here also do not include the RAM file so will be in a reset status.

  12. I just wondered if there is a list anywhere of the emptiers that you all know about. I know a few but never knew them back when I used to play machines, probably why I lost so much bloody money.

Also I remember a thread where people were putting up downloads of happy machines but I cannot find it anywhere.

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated, thanks.
