I've put together a very basic guide for taking a good side profile photo for modelling purposes... this could be improved on, but I am short on time right now, and my photoshop skills are not great :)

Tech update :)

While I'm not at the stage where I can be making new machines right now, I have made an exception, for @Spidy21982's exceptional contributions of the new cab models :)

I've tweaked the model to match the side profile we have on the Crystal Done flyer for this machine (there's a minor issue I noticed with the footrest, that's my fault from when I was doing adjustments to the model).

As 3d buttons are a long way off at present, I've had to remove some of the 3d modelled button panel, so the 'flat' 2d buttons can show through.  When 3d buttons do eventually make it in, the front panel will be restored, and the 3d buttons will sit on top... which will all look much nicer :)

Various hacks and whatnot to get this test working, alpha display broken at present etc, but awesome to see a working Spidy cab!

Hiya @davep180 :)  As @Spidy21982 is stepping up like an absolute boss with this 3d modelling of the cabinets, and is on the hunt for resources - could I introduce you guys :)

Hi there,

I was away for the weekend. If you need more photos let me know. Still haven't got the space back, but hopefully I will by the end of next week, then I can drag the machine about and take photos from anywhere you guys need.

Yeah. I have seen those models he made. They look really good mate. The wall mounted ones would work great for an MFME cabinet!

I guess we could in theory have virtual wall-mounted MFME cabinets in the 3d arcade, running some of the original 2d layouts on their 2d screens - that would be cool (and bonkers) :)

Since the 3d buttons are a long way off, I've done  manual test to get more visible buttons... I have to rewrite some stuff to get an accuracy fix in, then that'll mean that games in the new cabs (this one and the variant without the 'rolltop' coin mech on top) can have slightly better placeholder 2d button graphics (they were heavily cut off at the bottom on previous video):

Last vid of some Winner Takes All gameplay (autonudge does something weird on this machine!) now that a couple of issues have been fixed in processing, so games can convert ok into this cab now on the new process :)

Going to have a play with the Mazooma Casino cab from @Spidy21982 next, see about getting that in for a test layout.  I will have an issue to solve with the top of the machine, as it's a curve, and I've only done rectangular glasses up to now... big thanks again to Spidy for making these models :)

way to miss a skillstop and a fiver hahaha, it looks lovely mate, but is there a disco mode or is that reflections causing the cab to change colours?

In my defence, I have insane amounts of input lag on my setup :)   The colours, I'm pressing 'R' to randomly cycle the ceiling lamp colours just to see what they were like reflecting on the realtime lit part of the cab...

An early WIP of working with another @Spidy21982cab, big thanks again to Spidy for making these (and @vectra666for the test layout) :)

Plenty of things to sort out yet, really nice to see such a different looking cabinet in action though :)

It is me or did cabs start getting bigger in the 2000's, those S4 and S5 cabs look massive next to the older cabs ;)

J

I noticed this - I really do believe they did start getting taller mate, perhaps to outcompete each other for visibility (but width/depth stayed roughly similar).

Rolltop:
image.thumb.png.86bcf4a676d37f14870db7ed28a2caca.png

From the net (I'm pretty sure I verified this earlier from other sources):

The fruit machine displayed above is a Bell Fruit “Deal or no deal” machine and is in an “Eclipse” cabinet. The dimensions of which are:-

Bell Fruit Machine Dimensions

Overall Height 1798 mm
Width 710 mm
Depth 675mm
Weight 108kg

So from the Rolltop to the Eclipse, they grew 10.8cm in height :)   (bear in mind the height of the rolltop is measured up to the top of it's 'rolltop' coin mech housing on the top-right, so the left side is even shorter).

I guess since people and doorways are more than that height, they realised that a taller cab was more eye catching, just as practical, and not very much more in manufacturing cost...

Here we can see the different sizes of fruitys in a row.

Youtube videos are good for comparing cabinet heights, so we can estimate the heights of ones we don't have measurements for :)  I have a few on the 'Cabinets' sheet here:

Oh my god this is amazing! :D  Thanks so much for all your hard work Spidy, it's really appreciated :)

You can see the 'rounded playfield' issue on the Mazooma Casino variant video above, where it currently has black triangles... I have some ideas in mind... :)

Absolutely amazing work on these cabs, they look truly authentic.

I know this is an ask but would it be possible to release these cabs as front on images for 2d layout designers, they are just so good and I think they would be very appreciated.   Absolutely fantastic work on these bud ;)

I know 3 Players are a long way off but this pic might help with the likes of Party Time and Bullion Bars etc.. ;)

Thanks for these, very useful!  Accurate measurements are always very highly prized over here :)  Multiplayer cabinets (and the technical hurdles in implementing) was planned for further down the line, but definitely planned for.  For now, I'm just sticking to standard reel-based techs in single player machines...

For sure - I had some patience when working on the lower front door, and the JPM logo... after that I wanted to crack on with the ever-growing mountain of programming!  I'm not an artist to be fair, I just do basic technical placeholder art when required  for progress :)  I'm super happy with these new cabinets coming in, it's just what the project really needed - @Spidy21982 is doing a smashing job :)
