fyi, i finally got the juice in my new laptop to run A.S. its beautiful!! i did have a few issues though, the alpha is backwards on a few of the games and the hold buttons didn't work properly on sonic.. don't know if you're already aware of these but it's my first time in the arcade... total bliss

Glad to hear it worked ok for you on your new machine :)

I do have those bugs in the bug tracking sheet, ta - bugfixes will be coming, I should finally have a chance to work on converter issues after this next patch in a few days :)

Ok no problem I just wanted to let you know as the thread is now too long to browse through for me as I’m not very patient haha!! It’s a beautiful thing you got going on and I will donate on Friday but it won’t be much I’m afraid!! Just so happy to see the progress

Perspective quads set up - this is the second batch of machines as it currently stands for the update, hopefully ~80% of these will make it through final conversion/tests tomorrow night :)

Machines that don't currently coin up (but work with attract mode etc) will be left in for the patch, partly to keep filling out the arcade, plus I'm hoping to move onto a bugfixing stage soon to work on some of the issues... :)

any chance of a jpm roller coaster in there? Some old empires too! Just world love to see haunted house, high spirits getting the treatment!!

I am constrained by cabinets that I have made so far - that said, JPM Roller Coaster may be coming through after the next round of bug fixing, as I was planning to do some more JPM Vogue cabinet machines (as I have a JPM Vogue cab made).

New cabinets take quite a bit of work, so it'll just be old style MPU3/4, Vogues, and Eclipses for a while yet while I'm prioritising getting the number of unique machines up. Probably at around 100 unique machines total, I'll look at making some more (commonly used) cabinets.

Actually had a quick check through the legacy layouts - there's a lower resolution Roller Coaster that looks good :)  This type of glass art doesn't upscale as well as those hand drawn glasses from the Super Spoof era, but it can still be upscaled for some improvement, as the source image is good quality:

They sound great mate :)  I've downloaded the whole legacy section from here for JPM/Barcrest/BWB/PCP... so I should hopefully have picked up those Vogue cab layouts you mentioned plus any others - after a fair bit of converter bugfixing, hopefully I can eventually get all these Vogue layouts in :) 

I'll do a quick walkaround video after this next patch update, which should add probably 20ish machines mentioned above... I think it'll be around 65 unique machines so far (I'm balancing out other types of work required alongside purely trying to get the number of machines up, so it's a pretty slow grind lol :) )

More JPM Vogues on the way hopefully in a few weeks including that one :)  Won't have the AI upscaling, and the exposure normalisation stuff straight off the bat as that work is happening later on - so they'll be a tad blurry at first - still totally playable though :)

Why so negative to a man that is giving so much away for free ?

Due to this behaviour - you have fallen back into the New Member status, you reputation is below 4 - this is what happens when you barely interact with the site and get too much negative feedback.

You will need to do another welcome post or hope that others don't leave too much negative feedback on what you've posted already as you need to avoid getting -4.

How spectacularly rude and ungrateful, John has painstakingly documented the hundreds of hours he's sunk into this project over the last year, not least including how he's worked on making it as accessible as possible to as many people as possible on even modest hardware.

In one of my videos I demonstrate it working flawlessly on a midrange graphics card from early 2015, the only limitation it seems to have is running well on integrated graphics, which famously have the 3D grunt of a potato, so you can't blame Arcade Simulator for that.

If anything, I'm amazed at how well it runs on even old and modest 3D hardware.

Arcade Simulator is a fully rendered realtime 3D environment featuring a huge number of assets, and includes many niceties such as realtime lighting effects, that comes with a computational price.

I for one am incredibly grateful for all the work you've done on this @johnparker007 - and I know many of us here feel the same way, please don't let one bad apple spoil the barrel for you here at DIF.

Don't worry, I know you get people like that - we are all out here on the internet after all!  You just forget about them, when there's a nice friendly community like we have here... and then bam; someone's swearing at you and calling your work crap!

I’ve not even tried loading it up yet, mainly waiting till near completion but what I’ve seen via videos is totally breathtaking!

I remember asking wizard about online play and at the time it wasn’t on his wish list but hopefully he’s looking down and thinking 

They’re still playing my emulator and developing around it to something special maybe you @johnparker007 when the time comes will have a “ghost” avatar named wizard to lurk around the arcade even playing the odd machine sort of like a computer player like when you play against the computer in games like chess etc

Optional bot players are planned further down the line that wander around and play machines in solo mode, a Wizard avatar could certainly be in there! :)   There will also be a credits section at some point thanking everyone involved in software this relies on - MFME, MAME, Visual Pinball, plus all artists, testers etc.
