Mind blown!

Awesome - just watched this on my lunch break! :)

Feel free to reach out for some more info of how it works under the hood etc.

A couple of notes I should mention:

- it can work on some integrated graphics, just not the older ones (or very old discreet graphics cards).  It needs a feature called 'Compute Buffers', without it, it can't draw any lamps/displays etc

- it does require the latest MFME to be installed on your PC, that doesn't come with the download (Then during install it finds that MFME.exe and makes a copy in the Arcade Simulator folder).

Thanks man, I feel quite moved that my project has become worthy of a video! :)

At about point 18:18, I think it says that MFME is installed with this ?

I think it copies MFME as it needs to be installed on your system first ?

@johnparker007 is that correct ?

Cheers.

That's right - it appears like it would have been installed, but what it does is a fairly in depth search using clues from the registry etc to find MFME.exe.  Then copies that MFME.exe into the install folder.  If you click 3x in the very top left on the frontend menu, you'll see some debug output from MFMEExeCopier - so you can delete the MFME.exe, then on next startup it will find it again and reinstall it.

For further verification, here's the public ArcadeSim latest build folder on the DIF server:

No MFME.exe, and then I forage for it on the end users hard drive :)

Laugh reaction was my laughing my fanny off with that response, lovely how you just bypass things so you ain't disrespecting anyone, you wouldn't of come this far if it was going to be a stopblock, unless of course I have missed something!

Just wondered if you was to of been able to use MFME would it of made the job quicker/easier?

Cheers for the link and wonder if it is a good idea for you to pin it to your signature so it is easier to find in future? One good turn and all!

In hospital with covid at the moment, I have new releases to release at some stage.

Would love it if you could add it at some stage, obviously no rush, but a very popular machine.

All the best John, this a natural progression into the future, I bow down to your skills.

The MFME exe copier thing was initially a bit time-consuming, but it seems very solid now (in that it always finds it) - so didn't cost too much time in the end.  I've just popped a link to that donation sheet in my signature so people can find it, though I'm not tin-rattling or anything!  :)

Will we be able to make our own arcade soon instead of having a arcade already made

Absolutely - there is already a very early version of the arcade editor, but it's not ready yet.  I built the arcade in the video in the editor, I have more work to do in this area, organise the user saves, along with the fixed 'default' arcade(s) etc...

Firstly - get well soon mate! :)

In terms of Psycho Cash Beast -
I'll add you to the permission given sheet, and it will go in, but it has to wait until I've built a placeholder 3d model of the Genesis cabinet further down the line to put it in, along with other Genesis cab games (and that's one of the trickier cabinets, quite a few curves on it)...  but it definitely will go in at some point, as you're right, it's a classic of that era! :)

I know that @johnparker007, a worthy cause is a worthy cause, it wouldn't be the first time;) and anyone has a right to ask this (except the Author), Wine for Wizard, Amots Drink or the current one that Reg has done for Chris with the puss puss thing, through my eyes it is fitting just like your Arcade Simulator. It isn't your place to tin rattle as we both know that would be highly unethical but a suggestion by another member (wish this fucking fly would piss off buzzing round me like it wants to play MFME) off their own back is a different case scenario.

So pleased you manage to please both sides of the spectrum with your platform, was touch and go in the beginning but good coders from what I hear 99% of the time find a work around even if it is a pain in the arse.

On another note I haven't played your AS for a while as this lappy can just about hold together with MFME thanks to all the updates it has received but only just, so saving your software for the new system.

There's something very "ASMR" about this.  Just walking around, looking at all the machines, going in demo mode, is strangely pleasing.

Then picking the one you want, lovely.......  That said, I just walked out.  No Labyrinth, Big Chief, Seventh Heaven etc. :)

It's be nice in the future, to have all the classics in one spot, then the more modern ones in another place.  Sort of like the "retro" bandit arcades are set out.

Great video Al ;).

John Parker deserves some exposure to a wider audience.  I also find it kind of mind boggling.   That is JP all over.  He was staying for a weekend break at mine and I got talking about how difficult it was to build a fruit machine layout in mame, this was just prior to mfme v5.  Anyway literally a week or so later he had build converter that could take mfme DX layouts and create a make compatible layout.  Very impressive guy, it’s an absolute honour to have him as a friend real life.  He’s on a complete different level, hard to keep up with him to be honest ;)

Big love JP ;)

Only jesting of course.  Played a few, still in sort of starry-eyed amazement of it all.

:)

You and me both. We disagree on some things and have different points of views on some things but have no intention of getting out my pram, healthy discussion is good and you responding with no animosity says you are not a childish twat.

Gonna start a new thread on AS as don't want to flood JP's thread, hope he don't kick my arse over this lol.....

Saw this via Degsy's video, and im torn between "Wow" and "FFS"

Wow being, this is really really amazing. For years Ive said to my brother, just imagaine if you could have your own virtal arcade, think I even wrote a post about it, but I was basically laughed off stage

FFS being, it wont bloody run on my shitty brick top of a laptop, says, my 3d graphics hardware doesnt support computer buffers, but in fairness, Degsy does pre warn about Laptops and the graphics cards side of things. To make matters worse, the PC I got, is windows 7, so know that wont work, as MFME 20 series requires at least windows 10, so "FFS' is a understatement

Never the less, John, hats off to you, as for the past 10 months, you have proved yourself to be deserved a a knighthood in the FME World, so I salute you, "FME John Parker"

Sorry. Can anyone help please.

You have to show a little patience concerning Johns AS, this is why I think this thread should be closed as he through all pages of this thread is overwhelmed with requests and fixes, not starting anything but this coding stuff no doubt needs a lot of focus (imagine what @Wizard went through), determination and an incredible amount of patience, we also need to show some compassion (including me as just as eager to have his finishing product) so he can complete his off the scales platform and put a massive grin on all our faces.

Me, I am not thinking of myself or other members I am thinking about new beginnings and Johns wellbeing whilst he does his job to satisfy the masses whilst asking nothing in return which sounds like someone else I once knew!!

Much love all and lets do the right thing by him:)

I think you can still upgrade to windows 10 for free.
