You know forewell that my last post was utter bullshit but if I was to be honest I have broken buttons and cracked a few screens myself in anger all over what... a few bloody quid. When I look back on it now I don't just laff but think what a fucking twat!!

Quick update: 
Got the basic version of the RAM management stuff done (that'll allow for save slots, online play with shared RAMs etc).  It also opens up more converter work now, which is nice to get back to :) 

Here's a sneak preview - four new machines that I had part set up from earlier tests:

Going to keep on with this - I have a strong feeling the bearded one is on his way lol :)  There'll be a patch update maybe tomorrow night with the new machines added to the arcade.

Hi there :)  No, they are manually created by me - and then the Arcade Simulator program receives regular automatic patch updates, so end users will always have all of the latest versions of each machine available.

Currently entering into a phase of converter work, so layouts that work (that I have cabinet models for) should start coming through over the next few weeks.  At around maybe 50 machines, I have some other work to do on scaling up, and a download-on-demand system for the machines... after which converting will hopefully continue.

This patch contains the base version of the new RAM management stuff, this seems to be working correctly :)  More RAM options (revert to layout original RAM, save slots etc) will be available in a future update.

Issues
- I've introduced a graphical bug that makes lamp on textures blurry, this'll be fixed in the next update.

- The number reels on two of the new machines have corrupt graphics, this'll be fixed in due course.

Thanks for that info, great to know - I've just checked, it's not working for me either - I will sort out a fix and put it in the next patch (along with a fix for the blurry lamps on the new machines) :)

A new patch update is now live :)  (when you next start Arcade Sim it'll auto-update to the latest version)

- fixes blurry lamp textures on the new machines
- improved reel rendering at distance/oblique angles
- fixes Rat Race not working if some credits are left in it from the previous run ( @jabbathehut :) )

Yes, planning to eventually pull in as many layouts as layout artist permission is available for :)  The order they come through in is going to be pretty random, expect a lot of machines in Eclipse (plus some old Barcrest / some JPM Vogue) cabinets on the way initially as that's what I have made the 3d models of so far.

Tech update :)  
As I've been going through layouts to convert to machines next (some more are underway, hope to have them in perhaps by the weekend), I've been reminded of the brightness differences between the backglass images, so I've been having another tinker with a shader (adjusting brightness plus contrast for better control)... to do on-the-fly correction on the GPU.  Very slightly less efficient (than pre-processing the images themselves) - but it's super quick to tweak on the fly while the feature is under development.

Here's showing flipping between Game of Gnomes unlit backglasses in their original format (a lot brighter than the surrounding machines), then toggling to some settings that make it match the other machines more (also makes the lamps look kinda cosier :)  (Ignore at the end of the video, where a load of random settings get applied)

Ultimately each machine would then have settings so they all roughly match in terms of brightness/contrast, so the arcade will look more internally consistent.

You don't want to bother about those crappy 100 quid machines, awp lo tech has the biggest playability factor, saying that I am not at the helm.

I need to get the unique machine count up at this stage (currently 23 unique machines live) for the next round of research (mipmap streaming vs virtual texture streaming, and then download on demand/updatable machines and how that might actually work).  So as there are lots of layouts in Eclipse cabinets to download, and I have the cabinet made, they make the most sense to focus on right now... and then I can also focus on converter issues whilst doing that.

At a later point I'll get back to making cabinet models again, which will then open up what layouts can be converted... so it's just a matter of hanging in there ;) 

This will probably be the next batch to go live, I'm currently working on them:

Mate you do whatever you think is best as you are the dealer, I ain't going anywhere and know they will all be done at some point down the line, that is inevitable looking how far this has come from just doing the upscaling stuff you were on originally.

There are several I don't like which you have integrated into your platform but still it is nice to look at 3D wise (shhh don't tell anyone).
