A new patch is live :)  Adds 10x new machines; 9x Vogues and a Roll Top - these new arrivals are all down at the end past the video games.

Known issue - the attract mode on Snakes & Ladders (JPM in Vogue cab, not the one in the Eclipse cab) is corrupted.  I've added this to the bugs sheet, as I couldn't see a simple cause for this.  It doesn't cause any issues, just means the machine looks a bit possessed!

The Vogue needs further minor work to fix some proportions, plus when I can figure out some UV mapping stuff, it'll be getting bump-mapped mottled plastic texturing... all works fine though, just some planned future improvements :)  And the old Vogues are now also in this new model - thanks again @Spidy21982 for providing these great new models :D

Awesome!

I just tried Bronze Voyage, to see if the sounds work, but it crashes AS totally. I deleted the save files and now AS does not load at all!

Yes, I have broken it lol

Yeah - no lighting on the actual glasses, it's a complex issue (but solvable in the future with a lot of work), but the cabinets themselves have reflectiveness and whatnot going on :)

And sorry you haven't had one in yet, it will happen, just needs the cabinet, and layouts that are compatible with this quite early version of my process to be aligned - got a bunch of limitations to do with reels... it will happen though! :)

Cash Counter - just checked that one will likely be a while, as it's using a less common variation on a Barcrest Casino style cab (wide side trims)... so that cab will be built from as a variant of that cab.

Take Two - we will need to craft a significant variant of the Trad cab model, has a few differences... but other layouts you've done that are in cabs that are already done, will likely go in sooner, as part of future batches - most efficient from my end to come at it from the built cabinets end, and fit in available layouts that can currently be built (like have done with the recent Vogues).

Other work needs doing next, but hopefully get back to building more machines after  :)

Also - not strictly a walkaround, but thought I'd take a break, so have recorded a 1 hour odd play through of the new Vogues, plus some random games dotted around the arcade, should give a sense of the (frankly ridiculous :D ) scale this thing is growing into!

Prob take a while after this before the HD is available on youtube, this might be at 480p for half hour or so yet...

Yeah - there's quite a bit of work involved in further developing the RAM management system before I can force-push out a fix for that Bronze Voyage sound - there is a bug logged on the bug sheet for it though, so it won't be forgotten when the time comes :)

Fluorescent reel lamp test :)  Basic effect cobbled together around my existing reel lamps shader - top/bottom of reel slightly more brightly lit, as you get when it's 2x fluorescent tubes behind the glass on these older machines.

As an aside, it's really clear here how bad it runs in the Unity editor.  Each time I press a key, the whole thing freezes for like 1/3 of a second.  So every time I hit a gamble or feature stop in this video, it looks like a crazy pause then bounce :)  One of the things to get fixed by a rewrite of some stuff, that will also be needed for more scalability in the real build (e.g. >1000 machines in library) in the longer term.

Been testing, I think have a subtly 'cleaner' anti-aliasing mode :)  Looks like it'll cost around 4-5% GPU usage from a very rough test.  Will need to await developing 'dropdown' controls for the user settings menu, then will be able to switch anti-aliasing between (these all shown at 200% zoom):

- Off (existing setting: sharper, but has jaggies)
image.thumb.png.68c817cc95da873301e96a1066cee8ca.png

- FXAA (existing setting: improves jaggies but is blurry)
image.thumb.png.2fb25100c8578b3c3423af2f8d6ea77e.png

- SMAA (the new setting: further improves jaggies, significantly less blurry than FXAA)
image.thumb.png.3f76a02230097d1eb00ee2e522e1a683.png

('Jaggies' is the pixellated lines you see on the grey lines of the right side of the Vogue cab, mainly in the top screenshot with no AA).

I do need to develop a dropdown chooser for other menu options anyway - so this will allow those with more capable GPUs to have crisper anti-aliased rendering :)

Awesome JP and all good on this side, should be on this NASA PC (builder made that term up), only problem I have is poxy Windows 11 and their auto updates, wake up to find it switched to Linux (set by default on booting).

With GPU+CPU intensive applications like this one, you can never have too much power - a 'NASA PC' is a good thing to have! :)

You know how much I spent but it is well worth the investment not only to run smooth but not get frustrated, see many comments on this thread with members having issues only because a lot of older systems either have a slower processing rate or cannot keep up with the times. I for one am very passionate on a 50/50 basis with MFME/AS and don't want any blips, it is you, Serene, Slasher and PCPFan who have advised me well, now all I am waiting for is some emptiers in the arcade so chop chop🤣😉

I run AS on my mamecab, when I built my cab I got the motherboard and CPU i5 2500k for £45 quid and it already had 8gb ram fitted.  I did spend just over £100 on this second hand GPU recently, the GTX 980 is still a bit of a beast !!

I don’t notice any difference on my work PC which has an RTX 3080!

Impressive!!

What I wasn't happy about was spending £812 on a graphics card but had to meet the specs below;

Corsair Case, Thermaltake 600w PSU, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, DDR4 2666Mhz Ram - 16GB, 256gb SSD NVMe M.2, 1TB Storage Sata Drive Western Digital, Razor Mouse & Keyboard.

Has multi cooling fans to cool me down in the summer;) but want an addition 10tb WD Hard drive put in it (I have my reasons;))

Looks decent…  why didn’t you just go bigger on your pcie SSD?, you’ve fitted a 1tb sata mechanical drive?  Was it an overall cost thing?

Honestly mate I didn't have a bloody clue but having honest loyal mates seriously helped so let them get on with it.

I knew if I had of waited any longer that GC would of doubled in price. In the end I drove up Norf to that wonderful bastard, picked up the machine and had a few beers. A fucking great memorable day!!

A new patch is live :)  This adds the new fluorescent bulb lamp shader to Rat Race (previously had dark reels as it's the currently only machine that didn't have reel lamps).  Also, the default anti-aliasing effect has been improved - this does come at a small GPU cost, but it is much better.  Later there may be an option to select between different effects.

Oops, jumped the gun a bit there, had to change something and upload new patch - now the latest version has the new anti-aliasing effect :)
