Reg wouldn't take it, he only accepts in good faith when it is honest dough. Principles are hard to come by nowadays, which is why this is a strong and growing community.

Myself personally would throw his donation back to him and I'll replace it right now @Reg. After all the dough he has made I bet it was only a measly fiver(this applies to nobody else) as an honest fiver means more than any bad, backstabbing money.

"Wine for Wizard - Update"

Again I am pleased to say another chunk of money has been passed to Wizard.

Thank you for all your support on this and I hope that he is sober enough to continue work on MFME v20 !

The final total as promised for all donations will be revealed on the 1st of July.

I am pretty damn pleased with what we have done as a community here so far and cannot wait to share the final total.

You should all be proud of yourselves here for the support you have shown Wizard which shows what a small community we are and how much the emulator means to us as a scene.

I expect the final cheque will be done for 30th June now and we'll see what the grand total is as he gets his final money.

Thank you for your support for Wizard.

"Wine for Wizard - Update"

Time for another cheque to Wizard for his wine...

WineNo5.thumb.png.973dfcfd6e64be2f1b727004017b28dc.png

The final total as promised for all donations will be revealed on the 1st of July with the sixth and final payment happening on 30th June.

As said previously, you should all be proud of yourselves here for the support you have shown Wizard which shows what a small community we are and how much the emulator means to us as on this site.

This has been a long drive to do this and I really want people to know and understand that the money raised here far supersedes anything that this site makes, or has ever made even in total with everything else just simply added up.

You have each been very generous who has the special badge with some staggering donations that came in which shows to me how much this emulator has helped cure some people of the disease ( myself included as I said before, I once passed my thanks to Wizard for his work personally ).

A long time ago I thought I was perhaps a little insane to do that once before, but the support from others here have shown that I was not alone in this boat – they simply needed the method to say thank you.

Gambling is a crippling disease and MFME is part and parcel of the cure.

The reason I make this point is don’t think the site is rolling in it as it’s not and has never seen the volumes that have happened this time through supporters and this is the last time that I will be doing a drive like this.

On the subject of supporters donating to the site, I will talk about myself here - rather then ask any future New Member to support - I want to avoid that direction going forward.  Please just point them to the FAQ on this URL going forwards.

FAQ.jpg.4cc03473286eb686f5f6e912b8199db3.jpg.a08365f408b8d221496eca0e7b3de20c.jpg.1abc74081377da97f4fd2923622d1f8a.jpg

As there will be no more promotion drives let the FAQ do the talking and see if they can work out why they have a problem when they complain they can't download or have broken their allowance.  There might be the odd one we need to steer, but the FAQ must always be the first port of call.

Thank you for your support for Wizard and continued development of MFME.

Reg.

Just reading the 20 years ago letter, strange how far we have come, from the then new £25 jackpots, and the doubtful 50p stakes of bigger machines, to the vast amount of bookies stakes to then setlle back at £2 max, and with some non club machines now having jackpots of £25-£35-£50-£100-£200 (now some are up to £400 at £2 stake), not including the already in place £500 jackpot machines.

What will we see in another few years? £1000 Jackpots?

I dread to think. Possibly £200 or £250 rehashes of existing £500 B3 machines in pubs limited to £1 play? To be honest I'd probably rather play one of them than some completely dead compensated cat C that somebody has used methods on and left dead for the next player.

Don't quite get why private members clubs are limited to £400 jackpot at £2 play when you can walk into an arcade or bookies and play for £500 at £2 - the exception being B3A lottery machines which I sometimes did well on, and sometimes were utterly appalling.

Note - I'm currently in a 'gamble free' phase do don't intend to gamble in pubs or arcades even when they do reopen (except possibly £5 jackpots and pushers e.t.c. at seasides!)

I'm not bothered about jackpot size but I am bothered about quality of gameplay. If I lost every time but had some cracking gameplay along the way, I'd not be so dejected. Yeah i'd still be miffed but if there was some entertainment, I'd not cry as much when my wallet was stripped bare lol. But today's games are 'all or nothing'. Manufactures don't give a toss for the end user. They only want to devise more streamlined and efficient ways to get our money from our pockets, to please the operators...Thank god... actually, strip that. God has nothing to do with this. Thank WIZARD for MFME to help me break the cycle of self destructive gambling that was absolutely no fun at all.

I avoid the gambles on any machines, but ironically, dont play online casino gampling at all, i dont really know why it hasnt bothered me at all, i prefer the actual technology of the game cabinet but the last few months have ironically saved me money that i wouldnt normally have had... but i actually prefer the gameplay too, i like having the long board play for a while, rather than the constant, Game Over, Lose, Killed, Thrown Out, Pack Your Bags type outcomes. but prefer the good run at least you can collect a fair amount back. I dont use gamble features at all on machines, but i play to get some sort of bonus feature, then play other games, usually on a T7 or T8 now. But a lot of arcades (near me at least) dont seem to have any of the £25 or £35 machines anymore, which is a shame. mainly T7/8s B4s or £500 B3

Just donated.  It's been 13 years or so since I first discovered fruit machine emulation.  This alongside mame has given me the chance to relive my youth from childhood to early 20's without being totally skint in the process... 🙂  Cheers to all for years of fun and of course to Wizard for kicking off the fruity side of emulation...  (oo-er 😉

"Wine for Wizard - Update"

Good evening all !

We are approaching the final day of Wine for Wizard and on a personal level, I am so damn proud of each and everyone of you that have been part of this.

I was going to end this right at midnight tomorrow, but the mistake there is this is a work day and I really should not be up that late !

We have had over 1,600 hours of this fund raising drive when this kicked off on April 23rd and I am going to bring the closing time a little earlier tomorrrow evening then planned.

The last PayPal transaction that I will include in this will be up to 16:00 tomorrow, 30th June 2020.  The dropping of eight hours is to allow me to neatly bring this to a close tomorrow.

Today, we are now into the final eighteen hours of this.

If we don't get another penny - I am again so proud of what this scene has done for Wizard, I really am.

The next eighteen hours is not about fund raising anymore - this is about getting the profile badge to say that you were there and you were part of this.

There will never be another fund raiser on this site like this and to be honest, I am not sure if I have ever seen anything like this before in any other scene and this really was a one off to do anything on this scale.

Wizard - thank you for the past twenty years of MFME.

Reg.

It's been a great event this Reg. You've done brilliantly in organising it. Can't wait to find out what the final total is.... it's like watching Red Nose Night!!! Are we getting Lenny Henry on to announce it??

Pat yourself on the back Reg for a job well done and, I'm sure that Chris will be very touched with your hard work. At the end of the day, the cash is a lovely surprise but I think it's the thought and sentiment that's come out of this that really counts. Hopefully Chris will see all these messages and realise that between his software and the rest of the hard working members of the scene who convert the machines and flyers etc, what a massive difference they have made to so many peoples lives.

I think that this software is unique in that, for some, it has been a lifeline out of addiction and so it has literally saved peoples lives!

Quite something.... 😃
