I'd be gobsmacked if any of those 'chase trail' games were emulatable. I don't know for sure but weren't they all 2018 onwards? Surely they weren't still doing Scorpion 5 rehashes at that point - I can only imagine they would be Scorp 6 (I'd expect the Bell Fruit Robin Hood version to be that, definitely) or Pluto 6.

Currently owned digitals : T7 Encore, T7 Original, Astra iPub and Storm Street Casino.

MFME cabinets : Genesis cab DIY by No1Stoney, Interplay conversion and Vegas Strip conversion (both are works in progress!)

Daft question, but what exactly dictates whether or not a machine is emulatable (new word of the day!)? Is it the availability of the ROM? Imagining the day when Prince of Thieves or Chase the Rainbow are payable in an emulator but suspecting it’s years away!!

Availability of ROMs is very important, but even with ROMs they need to be supported by the emulator.

The most recent hardware that MFME supports is Bell Fruit Scorpion 5, the most recent pub machines will run Scorpion 6 or Heber Pluto 6 (both are unemulated).

We must be nearing the end (if we haven't already) of what recent machines can be emulated.

Until FME, I didn't even know different technologies existed.

But it's largely down to the technology used. But also the availability of roms. Thirdly that there may be something on a machine, that isn't emulated, such as coloured lights and it locks up the emulator.

Scorpion 5/ MPU5 is the most up to date technology that can be emulated.

Many modern day releases from about 2012/3 are on Scorpion 6. MPU6 is also quite old now from when it came out, but isn't emulated either.

Going back even further some techs from the 90's/early 2000's aren't emulated, so it's possible some machines from that era also won't appear emulated.

Some companies, still use Scorpion 5 though, so it's possible to see machines from 2019 or even later that can be emulated. We have a rule of not releasing layouts for machines where they are less than 3 years old.

So it may seem strange even though a machine from 2013 can't be emulated, one possibly even from 2022, will eventually become emulated.

Those must be Scorpion 6 ,which is too new to emulate as people have mentioned. The Mega Streak on them is often just £100 but if it does go over, then it's a massive £120!

This… I used to visit fruit emu and they were separated by the techs and I had no idea what I needed for my game etc, that’s why jpemu was so good for me as it wasn’t difficult to find the games I was after.

as said I am gutted that the age old tech spAce thingy is not working as oh what a carry on @MPU_FIVE owns, is what I grew up on and it was so prevalent that I thought it would be done but now thanks to the wonderful community here I have a better understanding of what they are inside over the game and features that are interacted with

Yes they are amongst my most wanted, along with another spAce tech machine called Circle Line by Ace (video of it on YouTube) and more Phoenix Electrocoin machines, like Mr Do and the Space themed ones.

Perhaps the PCP space ones may be emulated in MAME one day.

Aww yeah, am desperate to see my what a carry on emulated, as the poor actual machine does'nt work properly & I'm too thick and stupid to know how to fix it... Mr P once said he'd fix it, but time passed for whatever reason, then i contacted him again and he wanted to buy it off me, but i'm never selling... EVER. So unless i can find someone else who'll fix it, it sits in the corner, sadly...

Would love to see Mr. Do emulated too, and Pennies from Heaven... Electrocoin had some lovely hi tech's back in the mid to late 90's.

Dreamland in Margate had a Mr. Do, remember playing it loads... it played a tune every time you span the reels, and to get the most time out of my money, i'd listen to the tune completely before spinning the reels again, lol.

As you say, hopefully, MAME may come to the rescue one day, or maybe a new fruit machine emulator may come about... I wonder what happened with Guitar and his Amber project?... or maybe when JohnParker007 has finished his arcade simulator project he may make an emulator all of his own! - well it's nice to dream!

Gary.

I remember Electrocoins Mr Do!   A fairly rare machine I’d say.  We had one locally but it was only ever set to 5p £6 tokens.  It played tight on this stake but to be fair when you finally managed to get a feature it pretty much offered something decent.

I too would to have a play on this again!!

Bugger me, I do remember that!  It was like a piezo-electric ignitor from a lighter, but then the stealth angle was attaching longer wires inside a coat sleeve!  Not sure why we needed more than a single wire, thinking about it now - but yeah, so then if the arcade owner comes along, you've not got a clicker in your hand, I think we were doing something like having the wire attach to a metal button on the end of the sleeve?   So then the coat would look totally innocent.  Or maybe it was just the bare wire, which is somewhat suspicious anyway!  I'd be better at making things like that now, I have tons more electronics skills than when I was 17, I only really knew about bits of computer programming back then...;)

This reminds me of a total bell end of a landlord who walked over to us in the admiral in st Anne’s, and accused us of scamming his machines. A rich geezer and an early happy hour. He barred us/ why? I had one of the early text mobile phones and was sending texts and he was convinced we were scamming his machines. W4nker:
