Sadly many machines meet this fate or worse, so many machines once really popular where now no pictures even exist and so no chance of preserving them in emulation either. Seen a load of machines get smashed with hammers and what could be burnt burnt and the rest smashed into smitherine's to get skipped. A travesty really, so many have no trace left at all, be they extremely rare or popular in their day. Was the law different once? Only a few arcades I knew, when they got rid they wouldn't even sell them or give them away if someone enquired, which seems to be absolutely bonkers unless they either enjoyed smashing and burning stuff, or there was some good reason why they couldn't pass them on. serene02 Posted September 2 Report Share Posted September 2 I remember around 1984, when a local arcade dumped a load of smashed machines that we’d class as iconic today. Space Invaders, Asteroids, also some of the old electro mechanical stuff, I specifically remember a Barcrest machine from the arcade there too, possibly an early MPU1 machine. It was all dumped on some wasteland near Cleethorpes Wonderland, me and my mate walked home that way and we had a good old rummage. I mean back then I wouldn’t have known these were to be future classics. Even then I thought why didn’t they just give them away. Obviously they probably just can’t do that.
