Great new site Reg. :)So, who`s got the rarest game in their current Retro collection?...not me! :(

But I will kick things off with "Panzer Dragoon Saga" (PAL) for the Sega Saturn (obviously) near mint condition.

I love this game. It was by far the Saturns best game IMO. Grounbreaking in its day. i remember getting the 1st disk of 4, free with a saturn magazine, when the game was 1st released in the UK. It blew me away, and i went out and bought the full game.  At the time, i had no idea that its was going to become a rare classic, as i had assumed that there was hundreds of thousand of copies sold (only a few thousand were actually sold in the uk and europe) and i thought it would never hold its value....so as i was working at Cash Converters at the time, no prizes for guessing what happend to it..Yep, i sold it. i sold it for a lowly price of £15, and £90 for the Saturn console....what a dickhead!

So 3 or 4 years later, i decided that i wanted to play it again, so off i went in search of a saturn and another copy of "Panzer Dragoon Saga" i was in for a more expensive time than i had first expected.. the console was no problem...£25 from a car boot sale...the game? £150!!!! Fook me! when the game arrived in near as mint as you could get, i decided that i would not use the discs, through fear of scuffing them...ive never even opened the manual, as i didnt want it to be "used" so i wrapped the game in newspaper, and it has sat in a drawer till this day (except the the pic above that i have just taken)...unused, un touched (discs and manual) hell, i wont even open the case more than an inch!! The PAL version of the game, sells for around £250 to £450 on EBAY nowdays, so it was a good investment...though i dont think ill ever sell it TBH.

the only time i actualy got to replay the game again (and many, many times since) was when the Saturn was eventualy emulated on PC. not quite the same, but it will do...

So, Its over to you.... whats the rarest game YOU own...

:)

I can't remember what they are - but I have about 5 of the same game UK PAL versions of something on the Neo-Geo pocket in the loft.

I once saw them in an Electronics Boutique for £1.99 and as the Neo-Geo pocket flopped - figured I'll take those - you never know.

Last time I checked I saw one sell of £60 but I be damned if I can remember what game it was.

Giana Sisters will be worth a small fortune.  Pretty sure they’ve gone for over a grand on eBay.  The game was withdrawn from stores shortly after release, so is pretty rare.

3D Moster Maze was s brilliant ZX81 game.

J

PS Would love to see a pic of it if you have it.

I remember getting about £75 for my Ultimate Boxset on eBay.

All my vidya games have long gone sadly.

No I fire up the emus but at 50 I finally stopped buying.

Since I was about 9 however I've had just about every console and since SNES buying imports because 6 months earlier!  But the most value to me was art of fighting for Neo Geo cost over 200 UK's finest £'s when I bought it.

Started getting looks from the misses so didn't do that too often.

Obviously Intrinsic value of ROMs isn't apples to apples but I have a name ROM called 'Bastard' which is probably one of the few I'd never heard of. Considering I've been collecting ROMs for perhaps 20 of years.

Japanese title but English (English) with curse words a plenty. Unusual release.

I bought this when it came out - sold it 18 months ago when i was out of work and hard up.   I got £350 for it at the time I was gutted to part - but had to do it.

Such an awesome game - Saturn's had far more processing power than the PS rival which killed them off - but was a bugger to program for hence designers flocking to Sony. This game utilised all its power and was a beauty to behold and play.

They don't make them like this anymore.....!

Edit: Looked on ebay, it's as rare as hen's teeth - they've got it listed at £700 - jeez, may have to look at flogging this - I'd be happy with half that!

Nice find!!

I sold a fairly rare Spectrum utility (educational) for £150 pounds.  I knew it was a rare title and it was mint unopened, I put it up on ebay, I had no idea on a price so I put it on for £100 buy it now or make offer.  A guy contacted me and offered £150.  It completed his collection so he was happy, he'd been looking for this title for years.  I just got lucky and purchased a load of Sinclair stuff, it was all absolutely amazing unopened and rare/mint hardware   ;)

Doubt it's worth anything but I have a pre-release somewhere of Byte Bitten by Firebird on ZX Spectrum with proper artwork. The released game the sub game reward for finding the item is Sea King, in the pre-release it was Jump Jettin' (maybe Jump Jetting).

Jump Jettin' was a rip off of a C64 game at the time so the game wasn't (to my knowledge) released in this form.

Here is the released one. I will try and find the pre-release one.

Othello on NGP sold about 3 copies in the UK, the rest where re-flashed and sent back to Japan allegedly (and I sold 1 of those copies in Electronics Boutique Bromley fact fans)...  I used to play it in my break ... it was between that and the fruit machine games on the ngp for worst selling game ever I believe (I did have the sales figures once, will have to see if I can find them again)
