You can only play Rhino on a modified T7.  There as never an official release of it.

The T7 originally ran on either 512MB or 1GB RAM, with a crappy old Celeron D. The Firefox in the Astra / Novomatic iPub stuff ran on a Mobile Celeron, also pretty ancient, and about 1.3GHz. Can't remember if 1GB or 2GB RAM. I tried 4GB once... never got it to recognise any of it  

Most slots run on pretty low powered stuff. As fancy as you may think they look, let's be honest, 3D rendering is pretty low and they don't take much graphical grunt. Plus you need to keep operating costs down. No point a machine burning through electricity just displaying an attract screen.

Well tonight we closed the games for launch. If we didn’t do this we would just keep adding games and it would never come out lol. The launch list is about 40 games, cannot give an exact number as we might find one has broken or doesn’t work right on deeper testing. Now I am sat here installing each one, one at a time, testing all functions, making a note if you have to quit by keyboard or on screen or if the onscreen start doesn’t work and you have to use space to spin. We can fix these but again it’s time to release this to you all. Enough teasing. 
 

my tests will take probably two evenings then it’s passing to the testers who will try on various hardware and report back. Depending on their findings it’s then pack it all into an installer and get it out. When it that be? It will be soon unless a killer bug is found that can’t be fixed but it’s looking promising. Adding Astra to the launcher has killed t7 installation but that will be something stupid

Here is the config file from the game itself.  Something I never noticed before (because I never looked too closely at T8) is that videobet appears to start coming into view as there are various config breadcrumbs laying around.

On the question of what is different between T7 and T8 - it 'might' be the case that T8 switched to using Direct3D instead of OpenGL for graphics rendering.  In this case it looks like it's still on the older OpenGL.

Whats so good about raging rhino .I played a demo of it doesn't seem out of the ordinary for this type of this.Just interested.

I used to love it online back in the day. I think it was addictive due to the massive difference a couple of rhino symbols could make during the free spins, plus it would often retrigger.

Then, as often seemed the case, the online version seemed to be refreshed and updated, and felt totally nerfed so I gave up on it.

The T8 version was alright but I didn't play it that much when I had my T7-T8.

The discussion was less about how good the game is but more focused on what may or may not run from an emulation point of view as an emulator comes into view. The consensus appears to be it's T8 or above only so unlikely to be available from an emulation point of view from the outset.

Looking at Austin powers there was £100 jp. but in the pubs its no longer there saw the £500 jp in a local arcade untill they moved to a new highstreet and got took it away is the t7s just based on £500s or will there be some older £100s to and like mfme Is there 3 year rule if newer games work on old tech Looking Forward to it they have put older games on blueprint now from t7 but lag a bit wouldn't mind seeing monty millions, also will the sound packs be available to save looks fun though. Would it have to run though start up from windows load screen or will you just click on it they you did with mfme from desktop good luck with it all its fantastic but I know its alot of work so happy to giv3 a donation

My suspicion is the underlying logic is there in the game assets but might take some work to enable. I know for a fact that Rainbow Riches Pure Gold has the big stake logic i.e. reel strips, payouts etc n the game logic file so there is hope

Well for a start it's one of the older games that is believed to be (possibly incorrectly) run on a T7 and discontinued on the latest terminals (so may come into scope in the future),  that has the pie gambles to up to 100 spins, which for me personally is very interesting and I really want to play around with that.

The older games in scope will not have this.

Anyway I don't want to make this thread about my personal liking for RR so will shut up about it now.  Great news that release of the software is so close!

Spartacus was T7, I used to just keep pushing the 100 free spins out in the pies. That was a T7 title. Kings Honour - basically the same base game, was a T8.

There's a lot of confusion due to the amount of T8 content people have been running on modified T7, so don't worry about it. Then you have the rebuild market just to make it even more complicated

That has the likes of my old Betcom T7, Reflex T7, Storm T7, Concept Games T7... From the outside you'd be forgiven for thinking they ran normal Barcrest hardware, but inside most were just a basic modern PC and all sorts of random boards for handing input/output.

Very exciting times indeed, and no shame in liking RR. Entirely possible you saw it on a hacked T7 cabinet or possibly Videobet or similar running in a T7.

I had several decent big wins on it, back when I also had decent wins on other WMS slots. Then, not sure if it was around the time SG took them over, they all seemed to turn to shit.

Mind you if I take off my rose tinted specs I'm sure I had some decent spankings even on the earlier software. The later ones definitely felt nerfed though.
