appstrader
The reason for this post to gauge how much interest there actually would be for the release of this program, I did a post saying I was thinking of building this program and I did just that and this is the results. I have been working on this new program that will replace FruitBar, although it is currently named the same as the older release but it is superior in a number of different ways plus it's 100% rewritten re-using no existing code so it is 100% new and a lot faster than the original utilising some smart features to make it a lot faster. I'm still building some of the features but this post shows it looks currently, but it will change quite fast ! It can filter on MPU type, still working on the bigger MPU list as well as the thumbs used as the images are not easy to locate. It can also filter on manufacture names. The rom loading works seamlessly with a double click bringing up the loading screen while MFME kicks off and loads the rom so it is already fully playable. I will be building a cloud for this program so syncing of media files should be seamless, I have not built the controls yet but it will get built and so will be cloud. The configuration basically involves setting your paths and generating the data, its that simple. Once the data has been created you can just place your media files into the rom path where the program will look for them, no file management as such as long as the files are there it will work. You will notice i have started to add some touch controls for the volume, I still need to add more and some other options to select roms without the use of a keyboard although I have not decided what to preference of the use of controls, I believe touch controls are already active I do need to test them, I also need to get the marquee screen working so it can play video or just show an image, shouldn't be difficult to build im sure. The program can be controlled by mouse currently although you can scroll through the rom's using the cursor keys with a double click on the selected rom to start the touch controls may already be working. The program currently works in landscape there are no controls to orientate the view, YET ! but I will be adding options to move things around a little so its customisable. I am thinking of releasing possibly a private build where I can get some feedback to use to further the development, it might look simple but believe me it isn't and I think feedback would certainly help to build things faster, like the cloud it will take time and it would be great to get a few people using it. I do have plans to maybe add more emulation within the program so if you can imagine space invaders, pac man and all the other favorite arcade cabinets, emulations in the same view that may even be coming at a later date. Now I have created a proper post and shown the current status of development, what's your thoughts ? Nothing about this development on the domain shown, but it might become active soon you never know. 2 The new MFME Frontend, are you ready ? aland888
This looks pretty amazing —I’m new to all this and have no idea how that’s all done but it’s brilliant- ive actually just started building a small home cabinet of my own ,so something like this would be superb. Thanks, @aland888 when I develop these things it is really built for cabinets so it has a visual impact, Is your cabinet touch screen? landscape or portrait ? feel free to share a picture its always great to see a cabinet. 1 The new MFME Frontend, are you ready ? aland888
It will be touchscreen —-and portrait —-I’ll get a few pictures up in the next week or so maybe when I get a bit further on —hopefully it’ll be a fruit machine and arcade combined is the aim —I’m doing the build bit first ….and will look for guidance with the technical stuff as I go. some real wizards on here ….ive trawled through many threads with interest —-great work
appstrader
Syncing to the cloud starts to take some shape, a little basic currently but it will know I am missing cabinet images and will grab them from the cloud so that's a move in the right direction. It means once why cabinet images are in the cloud any setup I use where i sync the images will be downloaded straight into my new configuration, i dont need any file management they will just appear when I restart the program currently. In this example its grabbing the cabinet images for the two top rom's as that's all that is the cloud currently, Quite a lot of work to do in this section but the mechanics of it are in place for cabinet images, i just need to add the other types, top logo, marquees, movie files, etc. The new MFME Frontend, are you ready ? I am looking to add mame and some other emulations within this program but that will appear at a later date as it just looks so good with arcade cabinet views of the classics, 1 The new MFME Frontend, are you ready ? appstrader
A lot of work integrating media syncing into this software but its nearly finished, once this is fully implemented it means that media files can be uploaded directly in to the online platform where they will be downloadable, I do have to redo the syncing where the files will download directly in the rom folders but that is a simple job and the code has already been built to do that so some degree. The upload button shown will simply upload all the media for that one rom, where there will be another button to sync all media files so it would send all the media files to the server which is great for me as all my media files can go straight online with no file management required. I know other programs like this use 3rd party software and sites to get media files, but this would be all in house. I have not added video files yet, but once the sync code is finished adding additional media files will be simple enough, So there it is FruitBAR with media syncing..... (I will update the layout soon enough, just working more on mechanics of the syncing than the visual impact) S 2 The new MFME Frontend, are you ready ? appstrader
Thank you @aland888 @boredn2022 I will be looking to release a private beta while I continue to develop the app a little more, But currently my time has been diverted to another development so in the near future this release should happen once i get more time to put into this development. The private release will probably be on a first come first served basis and there may be limited slots. I was in the middle of working on the syncing where the app will sync the images simply by setting up the cloud and of course your lucky that the cabinet images match your rom list the upload sync is working, i just need to amend the download code so nothing too difficult. Other than that the main interface you see fully works, although I will be tweaking it a bit so things will change as always with a new development. The new MFME Frontend, are you ready ? I seem to spend my time moving from language to language as lots of fingers in different developments but gets a bit too much when its like 20 hours a day. The new MFME Frontend, are you ready ? merivaman41
looks really good, i used to use pinballx`s built in MFME launcher then moved over to your earlier version of fruitbar and it was some much better, i never got round to adding many machines ( about 30 of my favorites ) but it was so easy to use, so really look forward to this. appstrader
Great to see some interest in this program, the thread just sat here for a while without too much interest. I will find some time to release it soon enough, been bogged down with some other things recently. It's certainly progressed further than the images posted on here.
